@@Trentberkeley86 They screwed up when the Clinton administration was literally giving away federal land. At that time, ford island was desperately trying to be handed off. 644 acres sold for $20.7M. That's roughly $32,143 per acre. Kamehameha Schools could have easily bought that land, although KS has ALWAYS been the largest private land owner in Hawaii, ever since KS was created during the monarchy. With over 360,000 acres of Hawaii land, and using only about 3% of that to generate income, the endowment of KS is over $14.7 BILLION. So spending a mere $20.7 MILLION for that Makaha land would have cost less than 0.2% of the KS endowment.

@@rayfujimori9833 Maybe so, given the fact that the mission of KS is to help (racial) Hawaiians (only), rather than helping the entire community (regardless of race). @@rayfujimori9833 When I was in high school (not at Kam), I heard that potential Kam students had to interview, and to be selected for enrollment they had to show not only good grades but also good manners. And back then, the Protestant religion requirement (for teachers) was still in effect. Plus they had an ROTC program and rifle drill team. When challenged in court, they dropped their religious discrimination. They also dropped ROTC because the military does not allow racial discrimination. The only reason they're still getting away with racial discrimination in enrollment is because they're so rich that they can pay off (BRIBE) the plaintiff to accept an out-of-court settlement in the millions of dollars. The US Supreme Court has already found Kam's enrollment practices to be racially discriminatory. One of these days, their racial discrimination will finally come to an end.
