Mirin does a lot more than add "a little bit of tartness." Make any dish with a bit of mirin, and the same dish with no mirin. It gives wonderful depth of flavour for everything from soups to stirfries.

This was so absolutely delicious. I subbed diced mushrooms for the pork. I know it's shocking but I'm trying to avoid rice due to the arsenic content so I subbed bulgar which goes great with mushrooms and apparently eggplant too. I used it has a salad topper for my work lunch. I made the banchan too. So awesomely good.

I didn't care for eggplant until my dad grilled it on his gas grill. It takes on such a smoky, sweet taste while still being soft. Now I love eggplant in any recipe, but grilled may be my favorite. Imagine charcoal-grilled 🤤 This bowl looks delicious! On the list for when I have ground pork 😁

If you put the sesame oil in the spoon first, it makes measuring and adding the honey easier cause it slides right off the spoon.

Quick, dumb question: Are there any poached chicken recipes in Korean cuisine? Poaching chicken is an unpopular method of cooking chicken in the U.S., but I noticed that poaching is a common method in Asian countries like classic Hainese chicken or Cantonese white-cut chicken. So delicious! Would love to see you guys make a Korean-style poached chicken recipe if you have one!

4:25 i got into weight lifting explicitly because I like snacking. It's not unusual for me to eat a family/party sized back of tortilla chips in 1 or 2 days while laying in bed and watching TV. Of course that isnt healthy so i started hitting the gym. I've gotten somewhat fit and dont gain any weight despite eating 2500-3500 calories per day (sometimes more, sometimes less). I'll workout as much as it takes so i dont have to stop snacking and eating like a pig.

I never get what you mean with mirin. The one I have is sweet, surely not tart. Is Korean mirin different from the Japanese one?
@Nijilove786 жыл бұрын
Maybe you have the condiment mirin? I have it and its sweet too
@melissasheffield3696 жыл бұрын
Mirin is kinda sweet. If offsets the saltiness of soy sauce.

Mirim is Japanese~~ Perhaps tart is not the best adjective. It is slightly sweet, but has a bit of dry, wine flavor.
