Well, it makes total sense that the US and Korea would cross-train. If the Korean military ever gets into a war, it will be against the DPRK/China, and the US will be fighting as well. Training together prevents a lot of unnecessary confusion and conflict between allies. It also means that personnel from either service can be used to reinforce a unit if needed and a system of command and control is already familiar to all, with (mostly) the same supplies used by all.

There is really nothing stopping her from joining the US military except time. If she gets a US sponsor and then legally immigrates to the states and gets a green card, and she is otherwise qualified physically and can pass the background check for security purposes, she can join the US military. There are many non-citizens in the US military. Non-citizens in fact can earn their right to US citizenship faster than other immigrants by serving in the US miliary. However, if she joins the US Army, she might find it difficult to get into Special Forces - even with her experience - due to her inability to speak fluent English. SF needs members fluent in foreign languages but a fluent comprehension of English is needed to pass the SFAS and Q Courses. There is a place in the US Army that might welcome her HALO experience - the US Army Parachute Team - The Golden Knights. When I was in the Army I was assigned to a unit at Ft. Bragg and I was in an airborne unit where we were required to jump about four times a year for pay purposes. I had a roommate who had about 300 free fall jumps sport parachuting before he joined the Army. He wanted to join the Golden Knights so he signed up to go Airborne so that he would be assigned to Bragg. When he arrived at Bragg, he discovered that 300 sport jumps still wasn't enough for him to qualify to try out for the Golden Knights, so he had to join a local sport parachute club and jumped every weekend for months until he had enough jumps to qualify for a tryout. He subsequently joined the Golden Knights and spent his whole Army career with them. He eventually got commissioned as an officer and, as a member and eventual captain of the team, he made many thousands of jumps before he retired. With nearly a thousand HALO jumps, if she joined the US Army, I suspect the Golden Knights might want to talk to her about becoming a team member.

My dad was a pilot in Vietnam who was saved by a Korean unit called The White Horses during one of the times he was shot down. They made a big circle around him to defend from several waves of attacks, but when he tried to use his own gun to help shoot they sat him down and handed him a beer that one of them had brought in their bag. They had apparently learned how pacify an American at some previous point, so there he sat sipping on a beer as the chaos continued all around. He said they were the most impressive soldiers he had ever seen, and either from seeing them in action or the beer kicking in he stopped feeling scared, because he had no doubt they were going to handle it (which they did as he tells it like they were just showing off). Then here this woman is so humble, but I bet she's not to be messed with lightly.

Many outside the USA describe conditions in the USA they have no way of knowing are correct or true. Of course with 330 million people in the USA, isolated examples can be found for any negative behavior, but cannot be used as common behaviors of USA people. American soldiers are tall? Me, in The ROK in 2005, standing a whopping 5'7". 😆 Seriously though, I'm glad she has a favorable impression of America, and Americans. The sentiment is the same, for Koreans, from me. I enjoyed my time in Korea, and if I ever have the chance to return, I would gladly do so. Second To None! Keep Up The Fire!... and... Katchi Kapshida!

Korean Soldiers: *eat candy one by one* American Soldiers: *E A T* Lmao. I love it. Yeah, I'd party with her. The US has it's fair share of derogatory nicknames for soldiers. It's just that the soldiers more often than not take those very names and turns them around as a badge of honor. One of the prime examples (and perhaps most famous) is "Devil Dogs" when referring to the Marines. Germans were reasonably religious (at least up until it was outlawed when Hitler came to power) so them calling the Marines "Devil Dogs" was meant to be an insult. One, why would anyone want to be called a dog? And from hell at that? Well, the marines REALLY liked that name.

I'm surprised. I would have thought South Koreans would appreciate their military more.

All men (except for some special circumstances) goes to the military. It is just a normal thing to them. I guess it just waters down the specialness of it when everybody does it.

It is only right to honor anyone who protects their country. They are sacrificing for their respective country. I honor anyone in any country doing such a thing. I salute you. Thank you for your service.
