Those banchan look very fresh and legit! The eggplant is making my mouth water. I have made Galbi jim - expensive and time consuming to cook at home. Special occasion you are right! We tend to automatically go to Koreatown (Christie/ Bloor) or Yonge/ Finch. I love that you highlighted a local gem in Richmond Hill. So important to support local. Great concept and content Clark!

For anyone who doesn't know Hongdae is a neighbourhood in Seoul near universities that is popular with students and foreigners. Clark what are some of your family's fave Korean dishes?

@@skatingcanuck9837 my kids especially enjoyed hanging out in the Hongdae neighborhood when we were in Seoul last year. My youngest is partial to ttukbaegi-bulgogi and KBBQ. My oldest loves KBBQ too and many of the different stews including galbi-jjim. My wife and I really like bibimbap but I can always go for the stews too. What I missed out on when we visited South Korea and kicking myself for it, is the samgye-tang (ginsing chicken soup). Any suggestions to get that here in Toronto?

@@IGetFood Samgyetang is easy to make, but just takes time to stew. I love making it in winter. In Korea there it seems to be a real specialty dish where the best places draw big lineups. I will check out Toronto places for you two.

@@IGetFood In Korea there are restaurants that specialize in Samgyetang and draw line ups. There is one the famous place that slowly roasts the chicken on wood fire churning racks (unique since it is a stew). Here in Toronto you won't find specialty samgyetang restaurants - your best bet is to go with a restaurant knowns for stews. KoSam Restaurant and bar has come up a few times in my searches - will keep searching. I often make it at home.
