Internet cafe(aka PC bang) is a place where you can pay to use a gaming PC. While it is mainly for playing games, they also have AMAZING food, comfortable seats, and super friendly staffs. It is simply so awesome to spend time in there, that you almost don't want to leave.
In this video, I visit an internet cafe for the first time in almost a decade, and find out why a lot of Koreans are obsessed with internet cafes.

I worked at an internet cafe from 2002-2004. Best job ever. Counter-Strike 1.3 was our most popular game and we had 3 servers running it. Used to charge $2/hr. Miss that place everyday. Our cafe wasn't quiet by any means. We played music from our log-in computer (I played Trance and worked the graveyard shift to keep people playing longer). As far as food, we had snacks and a soda vending machine.

In the Philippines, we also have Internet Cafes. A few years back, I still hangout with my friends in an internet cafe even though we had our own pc and own internet connection at home. Its always like this since I was in high school, then college and even when I had starting working already. It's always better to play in friends. Losing and winning together. It's just something many people do not understand. When COVID hit, I think most internet cafes closed. I can see some of them opening up again. I hope the next generation of gamers get to experience what we had experienced. This video bring back memories.

I love seeing this internet cafe content because I have good memories of internet cafes in my high school years. Since now I'm a full-time employee at IKEA, sometimes I give myself a chance to come back and play again in internet cafe when I'm off to work, but it feels so different and I didn't feel the same way before I'm playing. I used to play for 5-6 hours a day, playing only League of Legends with friends. And now I'm almost giving up in 2-3 matches. I want to play again but the responsibilities first because of adulthood and got bills to pay and mouths to feed. And now I am playing my own game life :(

Internet cafes in Korea are still alive and well, but as time goes on, their enthusiasm is waning little by little. The biggest reason is that as the average computer specification in Korea has increased, it is possible to enjoy games together while talking on the phone with friends through Discord at home with better computers than Internet cafe. In fact, if you want to play popular games like LoL, PUBG, or OW2 with your friends, you don't even need a high-end computer. (Like GTX 1060 3GB)

It's wonderful to see this gaming culture continue in south korea at least. Here in New Zealand we had a big internet cafe gaming culture 20 years ago, but now that most people have good internet and comptuers at home most places have closed and it's died away. When I was young internet cafes were such a social place, I met so many of my life long friends there. We would go out and do other social activies afterwards too. Good on you Koreans! Keep it up!

PC bangs are cool but can be off-putting for non-Korean speakers because there is often a total lack of language options on the PC's making it inaccessible to 98% of the world. The staff are generally cool and can help you but PC bangs in Vietnam, Thailand or even Japan are easier to use because they always have a clear language change option on the login screen. Would help a lot.

Growing up in SEA, Internet Cafes after classes are A MUST experience for any kid here. The memories of your group of friends playing side by side, shouting callouts or bantering, it's some of the best. Yeah, it's literally just sitting in front of a monitor clicking a kb and mouse but goddamn those are very enjoyable and memorable hours of fun.

I never seen them in New Zealand my home country, was not a popular thing here i guess at least is my city. I went to argentina in 2020 like a month or 2 before covid hit and I played at a cyper cafe with 4 of my friends, was such a cool experience.. all of us as a 5 man on league. They are certainly fun, I wish we had more of them around these days.

What makes me sad is that PC Shops here in the Philippines are shutting down due to the on going Pandemic, I really love the culture of playing games with random people, it really helped me develop my communication skills and overcome my shy attitude. When I have time to go to Korea, I'll definitely go to PC Bangs to play for hours!

Uhm no the pandemic is not the main cause. It's just that most kids nowadays are already satisfied playing games on their mobile phones, and cellphones can do a lot now, so an internet cafe is not really an ideal business to hold on to. Plus some other reasons. Wifi vendo is more profitable.

And my god the Internet Cafe there at South Korea is SO MUCH better than some of our internet cafes here in my country, and when I go to South Korea I will definitely visit that internet cafe, 100% So Seoyeon is Bronze, LOL same 😆 Also, uncle Jimmy I just ate my breakfast and when the food you ordered arrived, I swear to god I was hungry again TvT Anyway, good video as always uncle Jimmy :3

Internet Cafes are also really popular in Turkey (there are about 30000 cafes) so I was very surprised when I learned that people in Korea also have this. It seems that Koreans and Turks are really similar as people also say that the languages are far but from the same root.

The US is too rural and with the advent of pcs and game consoles, making people enjoy time at home. I believe arcades are the closet we would get like at a mall, FAR away..., or "lan" parties, the fortunate ones. High density areas are more lucky, as these ideas are more accessible, like korea, japan, etc.
