Chonggak Kimchi Recipe here: crazykoreancoo...
Kimchi Ingredients: amzn.to/3Wwnj8p
We're eating Janchi Guksu (Party Noodes) with Chong-gak Kimchi (Bachelor Kimchi). In the old days, Korean young men wore long braids until they got married. Because the long stems of the radish resemble the braids, they started to call this type of radish "chong-gak mu” ("bachelor radish" in Korean). Koreans traditionally served Janchi guksu at parties like weddings and whangap (60's birthday) because long noodles signifies long life or long relationships.

In a critical food shortage he would stuff his wife with green onion and eat her. No doubt about it. He's a reincarnated crocodile.

Is it called Bachelor kimchi because once the ponytail radishes are cut in half they look like a phallus? Or do they do it for call it that for fresh kimchi because bachelor's don't know how to make real kimchi like grandma? 😅😂😂 genuine question

The kimchi’s name translates to bachelor or pony tail? I’ve never heard it called by the former.

The word 총각(Chong-gahk) is bachelor and it’s my first time seeing someone refer the kimchi with the literal meaning. It’s always been pony tail radish kimchi for me growing up so I found the word play funny for being used by it’s literal term.

@@김혜미-w8b thanks….I’m Korean-American but didn’t know 총각 meant bachelor (always thought it was pony tail). This is my dad’s favorite kind of kimchi.

Haha no problem. I’m Korean-American as well so the whole time I was watching the video I was like why the hell is it Bachelor’s kimchi then realized later that they were playing with the word at least that’s what I assume.
