I seriously need to start learning through here than on Duolingo. The pronunciation they use are pretty off with the characters that sound similar. Which caused a lot of confusion and frustration for me. This makes it so clear and understandable. I now feel a lot more confident, thank you!

@@rmarita2839 I watched video from "Talk to me in Korean" and for ㅐ sound you have to open your mouth a little wider than for the ㅔ but usually people don't notice the difference so no one probably will notice if you mix them up in speech

아마도 ㄱ 읽는 법 알려주는데 갑자기 ㅋ 나오고 해서 그렇게 느끼시는 것 같네요 ㅎㅎ.. 그런데 이게 이유가 있습니다. 예시로 나온 '고기'라는 단어에서 ㄱ이 두 개 들어있고 한국인들은 두 가지 ㄱ을 모두 똑같이 발음한다고 생각하지만 다른 언어를 쓰는 외국인들 입장에서는 명백하게 서로 다른 발음으로 들릴 수 있습니다. (음성학적으로 보면 두 ㄱ은 각각 무성음/유성음이므로 실제로 다른 음입니다.. 모국어 화자인 한국인들만 동일한 음소라고 인식합니다) ㄱ-ㅋ-ㄲ, ㄷ-ㅌ-ㄸ, ㅂ-ㅍ-ㅃ, ㅈ-ㅊ-ㅉ 발음 구분은 실제로 외국인들이 정말 어려워하는 부분이기 때문에 이런 식으로 바로 비교하면서 차이를 느낄 수 있게 알려주는 영상은 한국어를 배우는 외국인들에게 정말 유익한 영상입니다. 한국어가 모국어인 사람들은 '한국어는 한글 써있는 그대로 읽으면 되니까 발음같은 건 금방 배우지 않나? 문법이 어려운 거 아니야?' 생각하지만 외국인들 입장에서 보면 한국어는 문법만큼이나 발음법도 무척 난해한 언어입니다... 본인들 모국어에 없는 발음, 변이음도 헷갈리는데 본격적으로 문장 읽고 말하기 수준까지 들어가면 상당히 복잡한 음운규칙까지 있어서요..

I know you can't understand this most likely but still, I just think it's so amazing because we are the same. I've lived with English my whole life and always wanted to learn Korean, and I can't imagine people learning English because it's so familiar to me. By far the best video I've watched explaining how to pronounce the letters. I kept thinking how relatively easy Korean is to read and pronounce compared to English but didn't know my pronunciation was still a bit off.
