I am very much of the opinion that Carl wasn't going to Paradise Falls to live there, but to die there. He's old, probably not gonna live for too much longer, doesn't have an unlimited food supply, and doesn't seem to have any living family, so dying in Paradise Falls probably felt like the only thing left for him while honoring Ellie's dream.

@@miysoi Didn't you see the emotional scrapbook scene? Ellie wouldn't have wanted Carl to die alone at Paradise Falls - she wanted him to continue living on and finding more friends and loved ones to cherish, which he does with Russell and Doug.

I feel like this is obvious, but in the end Carl chose not to die and go back to civilization because he feels like Russell is closest thing he'll ever have to having a kid. And in the end, I think Russell has the same mentality that Carl is the closest thing he'll ever have to a father/parental figure. So I think Carl was very contempt with his life after the movie. He granted the love of his life her last wish and found a new family in Russell and Dug. And in the finale to the Disney+ series 'Dug days', Carl starts dating again. Up is truly one of the best animated films (if not film in general) of all time.

My guess for why Carl and Ellie never went to Venezuela like they originally planned was what was shown during the emotional Ellie scrapbook scene. Even though they didn't have kids, their relationship was still very eventful and close, so being married was already so much of an adventure that the Venezuela trip was forgotten. Also, love your commentary (the dubbing you did for Carl, Russell, and Charles was hilarious)! XD
