Yes I agree. Drugs aren't good but here in usa more harm extends to others from hate thinking / mental health going untreated. Untreated mental health leads to drug use gambling other addictions & then plain hate speech that incites others to violence. He didn't hurt anyone just himself why punish that. Koreans head in sand not admitting to mental health issues just labeling humans needing a Dr & counseling

Yoo Ah-in one of the greatest actors ...a death of a parent can be so devastating and men very often don't know how to process this well . Korea needs to get up to date with mental health issues .

He hasn't hurt anyone, just himself. He doesn't deserve to go to prison, but to go to a detox clinic and maybe get some psychological counselling. Above all, he doesn't deserve to be treated so harshly. Some kindness and empathy would be welcome.

The waste of taxpayer's money is mind-boggling. Sleep-clinic to sort out the insomnia, then work from there. It's difficult to function properly if you can't sleep at all. Court-ordered if necessary. What the hell is this man even doing in jail?
@AbbyA-z6j
@AbbyA-z6j 6 күн бұрын
@deepestsleeep What's he doing in prison at all? He should not even be in an open prison. What a waste of money. Treat him at in a hospital or at home. Enforce drug testing if there any concerns he won't stay clean. He's not a dealer. Who is he a danger to apart from himself?
@AbbyA-z6j
@AbbyA-z6j 5 күн бұрын
@deepestsleeep "Korea is currently struggling with rampant drug related crime". But you admit to having, and using, a "harsh drug law". If the former is true, then the latter is not working. Why double-down? Rather than asking what has gone wrong, and trying a new path. Meanwhile, your harsh drug laws have not in themselves stopped other people's children using drugs. So why would they stop yours? I mean as opposed to a strong support system for difficult times. Or knowledge of and access to effective healthcare. I have a lot of time for good rehab in prison. It's a must for addicts funding their purchases through crime. There's no suggestion that's the case here. I see no logical reason why a community sentence, with mandatory drug testing, would not have sufficed.
@AbbyA-z6j
@AbbyA-z6j 5 күн бұрын
@deepestsleeep And I hope every single doctor involved in this case is also behind bars. Their conduct scares me more than Yoo Ah-in's. And as in the Matthew Perry case, I believe they are straight-up evil.

Drug use is not great but judging from many korean celebrities who've died over suicide maybe dont punish him too harsh. They probably need to figure out why their actor/actress keep to choose ending their life earlier.

I’m very anti d r u g abuse. I’ve never ever even experimented- but I somehow feel sorry for this great actor. Isn’t it better to get him help with staying clean rather than imprisonment ? It seems that they penalise stars much more severely than regular folk in South Korea. Probably because they think fans will emulate and idolise that lifestyle. I wonder though, if this won’t make other stars with addictions hide their habit, instead of seeking help.He surely isn’t the only actor with addictions as a coping mechanism. I also wonder if the law pursued and convicted those who actually supplied and enabled his addiction- because this definitely never happened in a vacuum. Whatever happens, let’s never downplay the devastating loss of a parent. My condolences to him.💐 I hope, in the future that he becomes clean, and very emotionally strong, and I hope he has a strong emotional support base now that all this is out in the open. We don’t need another actor ta k I n g their own l I f e. I also fervently hope the South Koreans will let him go back to acting once this is all over. He still has so much talent to offer the world.

I still don't understand how Korea could create a masterpiece like Prison Playbook and still not understand the point of the series. Some of them even think that someone who has used drugs (even if it's a few times or just tried to purchase) is equivalent to a murderer. Jail is full of users but most of the ones who make and sell it are still out there. Why not actually target the people at the top rather than using actors and artists as media play.

They are the one who is driving death note to some of the actors. Yes! the worst beasts is has set free only short term jail. And they are free to do whatever they liked. I'm pro-most drugs, but realize it can get out of hand very easily. It's never interfered in my life and it's been less of a habit than most people with alcohol. I was more of a binge drinker / drug user. But, Korean society isn't ready for it (yet) and it's starting to go down the wrong path. IMO, they should keep the sentence and yes, a bit unfairly as an example.
