@@A7XFan800 bandit is an identified enemy aircraft that is not engaging. Here's the two cases when bandit becomes hostile: 1. You're clear to engage by mission command; 2. You're being attacked, so you can engage in means of self-defense. In the movie, the NK MiG engaged the SK F-15s first, so it automatically became hostile. The SK F-15s had the right to engage, but the command consisted of brain dead people, and the pilots didn't have balls to tell them to shut up.

Миг- 29 уже старый самолет, круто посмотреть как СУ - 57 раскрошит 2 жалких F-15, в таком воздушном бою вообще ничего не понятно. Со стороны Мига, 2 ф-15 можно было сбить путем системы наведения нескольких целей, а потом бесчинствовать как угодно. С военной точки зрения, сцена наитупейшая. Как Я понял, пилот Мига просто злой идиот, который потратил 3 ракеты на 2 машины и рекламный банер, вместо того чтобы сбить 2 самолета, а по самолетам стрелял с пулемета. По маневренности Миг-29 превосходит ф-15, но ф-15 догнал бы его. Одно скажу: на украине, самолеты МИГ и СУ прекрасно себя показали, как старые так и новые. Даже современный PATRIOT ничего не смог противопоставить КИНЖАЛУ, а он пускается с Миг -31.

I know. Like brass was so concerned about civilian casualties despite the hostile clearly not caring about his surroundings. Control should’ve given them clearance the second the hostile strafed that parking lot but decided to hold off on it, essentially taking the lives of 4 airmen in the process, and risked the lives of the rest of the combat team.

In reality the enemy fighter entered South Korean Air space. The pilots know exactly what their mission is and they have no need to get permission to fire from ground control. The point is once they were launched it is automatically a shoot-down situation for the pilots best judgment.

They didn't have a pre-determined mission either since they were scrambled. Considering the restraint the South shows towards the North, it's not too far fetched.

@@delos2279 I was stationed in the 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea for a year as a attack helicopter pilot. There is one protocol, if you're sector is attack you fight back. There is no second chance. They would shoot us down in a heartbeat if we strayed over the DMZ as well as the air defense systems are always up and armed. There is no so-called peacetime protocol in South Korea is there was an Armistice signed, not the end of the war.

​@@mrgrinch837 I'm referring to ROK, not US forces in Korea. The Status of Forces Agreement does not cover military operations. US forces can do things differently but obviously they don't automatically shoot down unauthorized foreign aircraft in their airspace either. Almost no country does and pilots do not have that authority during peacetime (your first comment was factually incorrect). The decision would go way higher than that. You also mentioned the DMZ which is once again a vastly different peacetime protocol designed to help prevent an accidental hot war. Anyway the explicit reason in this case was the civilian population center which of course would be a major concern for any country. Any competent military would have different protocols over their own country's cities, if not cities in general.

This has got to be the most idiotic dog fight I've ever seen, and it's amazing because of it! I mean even the Death scene is so over dramatic, heroic and cliche! LOL This is HILARIOUS and FUN at the same time. So unrealistic, and I don't care! The Ace Combat music is probably what makes this so hilarious - the on screen dog fight is about as stupidly unrealistic as an Ace Combat game but so over the top at the same. Ф-15 сопоставим с нашим СУ-27. Это самолет завоевания превосходства в воздухе за счет большого количества вооружения. Миг -29 - фронтовой истребитель малого радиуса действия, а также воздушный боец экстра-класса. Визуально он раза в полтора меньше. Так что в ближнем бою он бы американца размотал на раз-два за счет более высокой маневренности. Любят они сопоставить несопоставимое.

Was this based on the real life encounter? Because even though the MiG 29 is superior, it all depends on the pilot. And people in movies keep saying bogey...if you engage the term is bandit 😀 Ok now I know it's fiction...ejection seat error...yea you don't want to see that. I forget if there's a manual override.

They sure did in the real life encounter. The 15s have only been shot down by one thing...time. I don't think an F-15 has ever been shot down by enemy fire, but a couple times they broke apart by (what I think was) metal fatigue. 😔
