Some facts about the movies! Psycho was the first movie to actually show a toilet on screen, and the shower seen is the most famous scene in cinematic history. The exorcist was the first horror film to be nominated for the best picture oscar. Ellen Burstyn permanently injured her spine in one of the scenes. The shining. Jack Nicholson was a firefighter before he was an actor. They had to film that one scene over three days and used over 60 doors because he got through them so easily. Halloween, the script was written in just 10 days and it was filmed in 20. Its also Jamie Lee Curtis' debut. Michael Myer's mask is a William Shatner Halloween mask painted white.😁 Scream. Drew Barrymore was supposed to be casted as Sydney Prescott but she fought to take the role of the first victim.

In the mid 80’s I lived in Phoenix with one of my older sisters and her family. I was reading Children of the Corn for the first time and my sister's husband decided that we should load up the kids and all go riding around on the back roads, so I took my book with me and continued to read. When I got to the part where the kids were attacking the car…the front passenger tire blew out…which is where I happened to be sitting. My sister just about died laughing, she said I screamed and was trying to crawl over her (away from the door) while still wearing my seatbelt. Any time someone mentions Children of the Corn around us…she just starts laughing like crazy, tears streaming down her face, pointing at me the whole time.

At 4:47 one of the girls asked if that was an origin of jump scares and the answer is; kinda, not really but kinda One of the earliest jump scares was used in The Phantom of the Opera (1925), when Christine removes The Phantom's mask. However, silent films did not really lend themselves to the technique. The first significant jump scare from the sound era is from Cat People (1942), as Alice is being chased down an alley and a bus suddenly appears at the end of the alley, accompanied by a loud hiss and screech; this technique of a jump scare from an object that’s actually non-threatening became known as “the Lewton Bus,” after the film’s producer Val Lewton. One of the most significant and impressive jump scares of the black and white era was from Howard Hawks' The Thing from Another World (1951), when the creature attacks immediately upon the characters opening a closed door. 1976's Carrie has one of the first modern jump scares. The scene, which occurs at the end of the film, is credited as the inspiration for the use of a final jump scare in the 1980 movie Friday the 13th, to show that an apparently dead villain had survived.

Wasn't it also a thing for people to come and go in movie theaters? Like if they missed the first 45 minutes, they would watch the rest of the movie, and then come back another time to see the beginning and then leave when they reached where they came in at. (Where the saying "This is where I came in" came from" and that one of the marketing things they did for this movie was to tell the theaters to not let anyone into the theater once the movie started. It kept people from being confused since the main character dies early in the flim, and 2. it peaked so much intrest that it got more bodies in seats.

I despise Horror stuff but hey; Love them or hate them, there’s a reason why there’s a lot, and I mean A LOT of horror movies and films, because in the Film industry it’s so easy to scare someone, it’s quick to make, and cheap to make (I learned about it in theater/film class). Halloween (1978), Jamie Lee Curtis herself said that it was on a low budget and was filmed in 17 days (and it’s ironic as well because Jamie Lee Curtis said herself that she hates horror movies and scary stuff because she gets scared very easily [I don’t blame her because I’m the same way to], yet she’s very great at it)! Speaking of Jamie Lee Curtis I would like to share some Fun Facts with Y’all! Also Jamie Lee Curtis won an Oscar for her Roll as Laurie Strode in This years 2023 Oscars (Congratulations To Jamie Lee Curtis)!🎉 Another Fun Fact: 5:31 When She said that Jack Nicholson’s Face looked like the Joker in the Shining, That’s because He Was the Joker in The Batman Film in 1989, which has been said to be the most Terrifying and best Portrayal of the Joker (Until Heath Ledgers’ Joker came into picture In the Film ‘The Dark Knight’ in 2008 which unfortunately lead to Mr. Ledger’s death). My mum snuck into a showing of the exorcist as a 16 year old. Every night after that she made her mum look under her bed and in her closet for years. So yeah it scared them back then. Reagan running down the stairs upside down and backwards still scares me.

The shining scene still makes me scared knowing what happened to the actress behind the scene, what the director did to her to make her perform genuinely.

You guys gotta react to John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982). One of the best sci-fi horror films.

They should react to sci-fi horror movies, like Aliens, The Thing or The Fly all classic 80's movies. I think they would enjoy it and be grossed out at the same time

In the future do:- The Fog (1980). A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984). The Hills Have Eyes (1977). Child's Play (1988). The Howling (1981). Poltergeist (1982) Hellraiser (1987). Or perhaps the most frightening piece of acting that was ever put on film Showgirls (1995).

I think that since classic horror films couldn't be made to be over the top like ones from the last 15 to 20 years, their charm comes from the buildup of suspense. Less violence, gore and horror, but because of that first time watchers would probably be more on edge I imagine.

Need to react to Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Child's Play, Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Hell Raiser. Leprechaun 1 is also a classic.

I love the reactions but i wish you would cover the context and some of the build up for some of these scenes. that scene from the shining was great but its so much better when you know the slow build up and suspense that hass been growing. The scene from psycho was incredibly violent for the time and was a huge deal back then. Scream killed what appeared to be the main star in the first 10 minutes of the movie. There is a ton of creepy stuff surrounding the exorcist.

It's so funny because a lot of these movies were parodied (The Exorcist, Scream, Saw etc.) In the movie series Scary Movie. When I see them now I don't even get scared cus all I'm thinking about is the scream mask going "Wassappppppp 🤪" lmao

The Shining is a slow burn and you really have to watch the whole thing to truly appreciate it. It doesn't have those same standalone scenes like The Exorcist does. I mean, that scene was still scary in itself because Jack Nicholson is amazing and his facial expressions alone sell it, but you don't get near the same impression if you haven't seen his slow descent into madness. It's more of a psychological thriller than a typical jump scare horror movie, which I think makes it even scarier!

Exorcist has been heavily edited to be played on television. If it’s on tv, it usually doesn’t have parts of the scene you watched. The most graphic parts. Making the movie was actually BRUTAL and frightening. It was based on a true exorcism story of a boy in a hospital. The set of the house caught fire before filming could happen (everything burned but Reagan (the possessed girl) ‘s bedroom). Blair was only 13 at the time. Her voice was actually her lip syncing to a voice of a woman who was older and smoked very heavily, like 2 packs a day to have that voice. Linda Blair broke her back filming because she was thrown to the bed so hard. When Reagan’s mother was thrown to the ground in the scene you watched, the scream she lets out in the film was actually genuine, as she was thrown so hard she was injured (and still feels the effects of the injury to this day). Multiple people surrounding the film died when it was being made. The film had very lasting effects on the public as well. Many were angry and sent death threats to Linda Blair, causing her to have security guards around her constantly. One woman was so frightened while watching the film that she fell and broke her jaw. It is rumored to be a cursed film (though not like Poltergeist was).
