To be fair, this is not the best demo of such an instrument. I KNOW that it sounds better than it was being demonstrated. Maybe they just got it, took it out of the box, and put something together really fast. This demo does not really showcase the full potential of the machine. Additionally, the three demo songs that Korg has on their website for this keyboard are also not all that overwhelming. I am considering this one as a bottom keyboard in my live rig, because it has Korg sounds and a 5-pin MIDI out. I think that the price is pretty good, and it will be sending MIDI to my other gear. I think that in the right light, this keyboard could shine. I know that it is not a PA series instrument (I have a PA700), but for live, this would be nice to have. I would love to hear more demos for this instrument before I make the decision to get one.

Korg i 3 with Korg pa 60 and 80 technology since 2002, i have a KORG PA 60 keyboard for many years. I wonder why Korg launched such a Worstation in 2020 under this name? Korg i 3 was a masterpiece at its launch in 1993.

Korg is lowering the bar for what qualifies as a "Music Workstation." The EK-50 sounds similar, includes speakers, costs less, and is correctly categorized as an "Entertainment Keyboard."

Another Korg keyboard with dated sound engine from the PA50, like the Ek-50. Yeah, the keyboard looks amazing and I like the design, but why Korg can't at least use a newer sound engine in their cheaper keyboards, like the one in PA300 or the Kross 2. That's why I still prefer the Casio CT-X5000, because has amazing sounds, many features and powerful speakers, being cheaper than this keyboard. Come on Korg!

I actually love this demo, so thank you, and I think in this demo the i3 sounds amazing. I'm listening on Adam studio monitors. I'm a guitarist looking to learn keyboard to use for new ideas for instrumental tracks to solo over, and this looks very good for the price. I'm considering the Korg PA 300 or 600 as well, but maybe don't want to spend that much. I know this doesn't have a step sequencer, which I'd like, but that's fair enough for the price. Do the PA 300 and 600 sound as good as the i3?

Like I'm watching a synth demo from the 90's, only dated cheesy sounds. Looks like an interesting instrument, but would have loves to hear a piano, rhodes, wurli, acoustic bass, synth bass, violin, cello, stuff like that.

I agree - It would have been nice to hear some solo piano and the use of the joystick on the lead sounds ti give it more life and realism. Even with this early and somewhat mediocre demo, I am still interested in the unit as a backup for my Korg Pa700 and also as a bottom keyboard for my live rig with the band I play in... the price is certainly nice as well :)

Because it has a 16 tracks sequencer. But it is a real-time sequencer, not a step sequencer unfortunately.

i recognize the voices and styles of the PA80.... Other than scaling down and making cheaper hardware, Korg doesn't seem to be offering anything new...It's only interesting if you've never played a Korg arranger, and need something inexpensive and highly portable. Then this would be perfect.

It belongs to a low class but the price is justifying it. No, not a pro instrument, therefore pro's should not feel injured by it. It is for those who are new to the music, want to try some composing with 16 channel sequencer and solid sounds. No synthesizer section, but who cares, you need to learn first to play and compose. For 6 grand, nothing comes close for people who want to try music.

I am not sure that I completely agree. For one, the demo does not really showcase the sounds in a solo situation. Additionally, there was no use of the joystick, this giving the demo here a very sterile and consumer sound. I am a professional and am seriously considering this instrument as a backup to my Korg Pa700, and also as a bottom keyboard for my live rig with the band I play keyboards in. There is no reason why an instrument like this couldn't be used by professionals in almost any situation. I know that it is not a true PA series instrument, but the addition of the Keyboard Sets layout and the ability to layer up to 3 Upper sounds makes it a cool option. I am also considering the XE20 as a bottom keyboard, as it has 88 weighted keys. It too is a consumer level board, but with a USB Host Interface, it can be a nice controller for legacy 5-pin MIDI gear. In addition, it has great piano sounds worthy of the stage. Both are good keyboards. Not everyone can afford the PA4X, the PA1000, Kronos, or even Krome. These are serious possibilities for lots of different users. The so far seen price of the i3 is $599. The price of the XE20 USD is $799 USD.

This might be the cheesiest keyboards performer I’ve ever heard. Those of you blaming on the keyboard, know that a tin can can sound wonderful played by a good drummer. This is far from a tin can and a very usable keyboard. Just compare the tacky elevator music here with the musictrackjp demo of this same keyboard.

If this is Adam playing the demo, he plays keys really well. He is their main on staff demo guy and he can really play a piano/keyboard. I suspect that he did not have a lot of time with it before his company was asking for a demo on the keyboard.

I'm almost ashamed to say I own a KORG PA 900.. This Korg i3 sounds like a $ 100.00 Casio I played on when I was younger ..... It might make a good beginner keyboard for some kid wanting to learn.. But it has no professional potential...

I think you guys who mostly use presets need to learn how to edit sounds , these are the basic sounds to please the home market guys there are other demo's out their by Korg demonstrators who know how to make good sounds, I'm interested in this if it can play audio in a playlist and if patches are easy to get to for live playing.
