MS2000b owner since the early 00s--one thing to remember with this synth is that the MIDI clock drfits. Clock it externally with your DAW or drum machine to fix it.

It’s a killer synth, one of the best. The sequencer is really the star of the show here imo, especially for ambient stuff.

Love this synth and still have an original MS2000 and MS2000R. Definitely have a "sound" but the mod sequencer and built in delay/FX and relative ease of use with all the hands-on controls still makes it a fun and expressive performance instrument for me.

Have you ever tried to poly-chain them both together?

The digital artifacts kinda make this synth. It is impressively analog sounding for 2000 VA, but when the zeros and ones start showing it's quite charming. I've always loved this since the first time I saw someone play it on stage.

I’m really intrigued by the MS2000 because I got a Korg Radias for really cheap a few months ago and found out that I really like early 2000 virtual analog synths. I see a lot of similarities between the MS-2000 and the Radias but somehow the MS-2000 seems like it can sound more analog than the Radias. I think I’ll grab one someday if I can get one at a good price.
@tritonrecordings Жыл бұрын
I have both, and they are simile but different. The Radias sounds much more polished than the MS2000. I like both enough to keep both haha

My path was similar too, Reason taught me how to use hardware and I bought MS2000 around Reason 2.0. I found the MS2K to be very similar to Reason's Subtractor + Matrix!

I've been trying to figure out how to get my ms2000b hooked up to my PC so I can load some presets. The Korg driver on their site doesn't list any ms2ks as compatible with the driver... And my systex program can't find my synth. It's set to external. Either I have a bad cable or I am totally doing this wrong or have the wrong driver?

Other than only 4 voices, the only real drawback is its lack of user slots (only 1). About half the presets are only so-so, so I've overwritten them, but it would still be nice to have at least a bank of user slots (16 patches). The MS2000 sound is underrated and the functionality better than most circa 2000 VAs. I actually like the chorus and delay effects but admit the distortion button is crap except sometimes as a signal boost.

Got my hands on one of these about 3 weeks ago. Trying to figure out how to get it hooked to my digital piano (not sure if my keyboard has the right plugins on the back). Also stumped on how to get this hooked to a computer to record in Ableton. Any advice?
@dodgingrain3695 Жыл бұрын
I struggle with the sound and 4 voice poly. It is easy to use and easy to learn on though, just wish it had a better sound and 2 more voices. And then there is the midi timing issue with the arp that's a pain.

What is that oscilloscope called that you have there. Its really cool!
@Bloom_Music Жыл бұрын
It’s called a Heathkit 10-12, but it’s just a prop. The waveform is added in post.

they should do an analog version of this.... or digital oscs and analog filters and effects
@Bloom_Music2 жыл бұрын
Yes, a modern analog version of this would be amazing. While the 'Logue family is cool and helped to usher in this golden era of affordable analog, their relative simplicity compared to the 20+ year old MS2000 leaves a lot to be desired!
@meilstone10 ай бұрын
The MS2000 was already modelled after the analog classic MS-20. If you want a current analog counterpart you can get the Minilogue.
@benbauer106510 ай бұрын
Honestly the monilogue xd has a lot in common. Less modulation.

Can you assign an envelope to either lfo? As in make it have a faster/slower attack.
@Bloom_Music6 ай бұрын
You can assign either envelope to control LFO rate, but you cannot mod the envelope times with an LFO.

I want to know if the adapter of Korg MS 2000 is 9v, but how much amps should it be? Because I bought the second hand MS 2000 needed it, and it was not included in this equipment. I want to know Amps

@@Bloom_Music 😢…. I know. Had the keys + desktop 2kB latter release linked in past, where Korg have a feature implemented in the 2k where you can set one as ‘Master’, other ‘Slave’ and then receiving (playing) only ODD or EVEN Note #’s I guess as a get around 😮. Worked fine. Eventually sold the keys, kept desktop as found in reality it can make a lot of noise with only 4 note polyphony!! 💥🎧😃👍🎹🎵🍻

As said above, you can hook up two MS2000s to get 8 voices. It's also worth mentioning that the synth is multi-timbral with two timbres per voice. Plus it has a nice delay effect. So you can layer sounds and use the delay in a way that makes it sound as if it had more than 4 voices.
@AlexReyes-bj2br2 жыл бұрын
Is there a way to hook it up to a newer midi controller?
@Bloom_Music2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it has a standard MIDI din, so any controller with MIDI out (95% of them) will work with this.

The oscilloscope is a Heathkit 10-12, but it is just a prop. I bought a non-functioning unit, and then I generate the scope digitally and overlay it in post! It's a very cool looking unit and I would love to have a working example, but it was HUGE before I modified it to be a prop. The tube was like 20" deep!
