Hi, I am a Japanese new user of an old Radias. I bought the Rasias as the secondhand just after watching this movie. To express my thanks for Mr. Ujiie's performance I would like to make Englith subtitles for you all by my primitive language ability. Sorry about my poor English, but please enjoy below! (above?)

i have a kronos 2 and im getting a radias today after watching more than 20 youtube demo. The radias is excellent specially the knobs are usefull editing and mixing. Kronos and radias is a great combination.

What an absolutely gorgeous sounding synth! I have a Korg Kronos, Z-1 & EXB-MOSS on my Triton, Alesis Fusion, Kurzweil PC3K & Yamaha EX5 & Motif 6 w/PLG150-AN. (same engines as the AN1x) They all have amazing analog modeling & VA engines, but the Radius sounds incredible.

5:11 Also on this brass sound, the sharpness of filter is very nice! *as he is turning a knob of the filter section. 5:23 *as indicating TYPE knob Filter 1. It is an unique function of Radias that you can change continuously the character of filter such as low-pass, high-pass and so on. 12dB to 24dB, you can change value continuously. YOU CAN CHANGE VALUE CONTINUOUSLY! It's a KILLER! 5:49 *Mr. UJIIE's play

I am still enjoying this synthesizer without getting tired. I use a rack type connecting to KROME by MIDI. Sounds by turning various knobs on the RADIAS control panel in real time are nice decorations on KEOME sounds and make sounds more fantastic. Yes in truth, at first, I felt the color combination was a little strange. But I think now the combination is one of the unique characters of RADIAS. Anyway, beautiful sounds from RADIAS are just the core-design of this instrument, I believe so.

You do really have nice demo videos, even if I don't speak your language they are entertaining and informative. Seems that you have some other sounds and drum patterns in your Radias than in mine. Any special downloads or own compositions or just standard banks?

Interesting to hear something different from the Radias, although I still love and regularly play Gattobus's Endorphins demo. I was so impressed by that demo that I bought a Radias myself. I don't think there is anything comparable to the Radias on the market today. Synths are just trying to sound like Minimoogs and arranger keyboards like orchestras.

I like the design - Somehow got used to the colors - The only niggle I have is - they represent it as being " Modular" But if you pay for the keyboard and the module - You can't really use the keyboard separately - because there"s no midi out. You have to use the short propriety cable to connect to the module . It would be the perfect keyboard for a laptop setup --- even matches the finish on the macbook pro I don't have ! - Excellent demo - even by MJP standards - ! Love E.piano comping !

To me the Radias takes a bit more time to learn but is worth the effort. The newer M3 is a great synth to combine with it although the quality of sound not even as good as the Karma and the newest Kronos is now an additional thousand from what it was a couple years ago for the same synth.

I'd still go with a Radias. Even in Master Ujie's capable hands, the KingKorg did nothing for me.It'll take something more than shoving a vacuum tube into a sized-up microKorg to blow my skirt up, especially for what they're charging!

Although I am interested in the King Korg too, I hope it sells under 10 units world wide, so we might get knobs, another filter and the sequencer back in next synth! King Korg almost feels like a down grade in many ways.

TBH, the very best software today sounds fantastic. Uhe Diva can sound extremely close to 30 year old synthesizers that cost thousands of dollars. Its the best sounding virtual analog, SW or HW. When it comes to digital or VA synths.....there is little difference, HW vs SW. The Radias is digital. IMO, there is still some magic to be had hitting FX pre-convertors. Running a simple VA hardware synth like this or a Nord Lead into a some analog distortion, analog phaser or chorus, can sound fantastic. Also, working with hardware, knobs and sliders, is also just enjoyable. Having real tome control without having to click and drag is fun. Don’t go HW for sound alone....you’ll likely be disappointed by anything other than a VCO analog mono synth, which IMO....software still can not touch. Its just the total experience. The interaction, the hardware FX chains, its all just making music though in the end. There is only one way to find out if its for you. Luckily, there are fantastic sounding synthesizers for very low prices these days. The Behringer Model D and Toraiz AS-1 sound as good as anything ever made, and can be had for well below $500. If its gotta be poly, Deepmind 6/12 and Korg Minilogue are both extremely nice instruments. Try one out.

I do not cry for sequencer, you can use computer if you are home. I cry about drum machine essential for live playing. More keys, 3 timbres and ability to do 3 way split would rock.

Still trying to decide between this or a Waldorf Blofeld rack... And videos like these aren't making the decision any easier!
@rhythmdroid
@rhythmdroid 10 жыл бұрын
I've owned both. This one is more meaty and real sounding - and frankly, having more controls make programming fun. Blofeld programming is kind of tedious. The only thing the Blofeld can really excel at is those "morphing" waveshapes...but they didn't wow me as much as I thought they would. the sound was just soooo VST-ish
@christolbert4841
@christolbert4841 10 жыл бұрын
Does the Radius have a similar sound to the Triton? I owned one for a little but sold it as I never liked the synth sounds, too plastic sounding. I was hoping the Blofeld would give me a more luxurious sound but on the cheap...
@rhythmdroid
@rhythmdroid 10 жыл бұрын
Chris Tolbert Well, to be honest, what I consider meaty, you may consider plastic. I think the Radias just has more of a "hardware" sound cause of the very present midrange. If you compare the two side-by-side, Blofeld will sound more luxurious than Radias. Check out my Soundcloud page "Rhythm Droid". 90% of the synth sounds there are Radias.

hi guys i know what your both saying as the first synths i ever owned werd 2 roland d50s and ppl that herd my tunes were amazed at the sounds i got out of them so it is realy down to the programmer and not the machine in most cases but ease of use is a main issue also being able to edit the sounds and make them sound difrent is a major bonus but with the radas i find that the sounds remind me of virus ti sort of sound mixed with genral midi sounds as thay just dont sound as nice example things i like in the radias are base sounds and some strings but when editing the string sounds when i change the sounds i find i can only mix different parts to gether and not change the wave forms of the sounds to make them sound different or better another for instance is i have just aquired a motif 7 to replace my korg triton my korg triton has trance attack and dance extreame installed it it when editing i can change the waveform of the sounds but thay dont sound any better than how the preset sounds for some reason and when i look in the motif its so limited to editing and also having read about the synth the new motifs were fitted with not so good sound chips as the older ones so im sure this must be happening in a lot of synths as the ti suffres the same issue

I will never sell my Korg Radias monster synth :-) HOT TIP Try to run the Korg Radias with MIDI OUT from a Korg M3 and MIDI IN on the Radias and you get a shock of patterns from the drums, sounds and effects when you choose the Combi mode and KARMA on the M3. A real knockout combination :-)
