The closest comparison I know of is the Jomox MBase01 ( www.vintagesynth.com/misc/mbase01.php ) which was $300 and had buggy MIDI implementation. These V-Kcks gonna be half that price on sale, given a little time. I'll picke one up for $150 absolutely. I can't believe how good this kick sounds on a sub-$200 machine. Korg crushes it again.

What do you play these instruments through? I just ordered some Presonus Eris E8 monitors because I wanted some decent monitors that could extend into the low-end well (and also because I got a great deal on them). I'm hoping the 8" woofers will be big enough to give decent bass without coloring the sound at all.

Ummm well its really how you use it! In this set up I would layer the sounds...let the tb3 do the riffs & the tr-8 for the beat and then bring the kick in & out for bass lines and to layer over the tr8 kick randomly through out the sequence...or to emphasize a certain point in the composition.

I'm primarily a dark techno producer, which is a genre that is ANAL about percussive elements. I use the punch box 90% of the time for my kick. so versatile! :)
