Not a fan of the 1 finger stuff but other stuff is really nice. Was going to d/l the demo but wondering the name of some of the pad types so I jump straight to it? I still have the original WS AD...some of it is very close to original. Be great if it lets you detach the animation and make it control/realtime by user

And it's $800, what a damn steal (for what it is)! I'll probably get an Argon8 if anything though, that synth is sooooo amazing, I really really want it. But the Minilogue xd too, and the Moog Sirin before the price skyrockets, and the Behringer Model D + Neutron, and the Volca Drum, and Arturia Microfreak, and Elektron Digitakt... Sooo many great synths and equipment coming out recently/soon, it's driving my hungry wallet crazy!

Thanks Bo, Your video of the new Korg WaveState is the best in-depth review I've seen for this amazing product. great review Bo, well done. talking of alternatives , original wavestations are easy to find for $250 and superior in some ways (aftertouch, 61 keys, pro build quality etc) and for $50 (regularly $25) you can't go wrong with korg's own VST, highly recommended!

Now I see what's going on with the Wavestate Bo! Actually, it's not that dissimilar from my Montage, but without the FM engine, added features and build quality. The Montage has motion control with lanes that can be rhythmically automated like a sequencer or controlled with the super knob. I'm glad I saw your video before I considered this as my next wavetable synth. It has more in common with my Montage than a PPG. I'm looking for a modern take on old school, Waldorf style wavetable synthesis in my next synth. From what I see, the Wavestate isn't the tool to get me there. The Hydrasynth seems the best bet for me.

@@BoBeats 👍🏻Agreed!! I Don't!..well, I Usually do not.... I Mostly do not😬 but... IF... it is a bit pricey & I really Really "need" it🤔😶.. Then I'll buy it online from American Musical (AMS) Highly Recommend them!! No, I'm not an employee or sponsored by 'em (I wish!)..but, they're Awesome! I own some of the gear I do, because of them. I would've had to wait years otherwise & having to wait a year or 2 is like Forrrevvverr in "newest synth" years! lol They do 0% intrerest payment plans 3-12months (& 3 or 5mo w/No credit check!)..pay using my bank/credit card, no store credit needed. I pay the acct balance monthly. So instead of say, letting $800 go at once for a Korg Wavestate.. or if my budget didn't allow it, but would allow 300.. then I can say hello to the wavestate now & bye bye to only $267/mo for 3mos or $160/mo for 5😀😎 But Again, ONLY if can pay off monthly! I also use a 0% interest cc or VERY low at least.. Otherwise.. yes Bo, I agree!! Not good to buy stuff on credit!! Once Again, You are 100, right on point!! Just like your videos!!👍🏻

Any idea when it will be available to buy.

The manual is available at Korg's website. Each sound can be 4 layers deep but it is not a multi-timbrel instrument. It really needs aftertouch and at least 61 keys to be taken seriously as professional in this day and age. So basically you need to connect it to a controller and keep it close enough to reach the knobs. 3 octaves is what a minimalistic mono-lead synth should have, not a poly-synth.

it's funny you've mentioned Jupiter XM, that's the one I had on my mind for a while, until Wavestate came out, it really grabbed my attention and price wise it is almost a half less than Jupiter XM

Is everyone loving this born in the late 90s? Because yes, it sounds nice, but it doesn't strike me as anything we couldn't make in the 90s and 00s with the digital synths that were pretty much the only things you could buy new back then. It is cool enough, and I would use it if it was sitting around, but nothing really impressive here as far as sound engine goes IMO. Not ragging on people who like it AT ALL, it just seems to me that we got over these digital sounds back then. Now that we have them new analog synths again, I assume the younger people who have grown up making music with them feel bored with analog stuff. I'm sure guys who were making music in the early 80s were bored with analog as well, and were surprised when my generation craved vintage analog gear! It is interesting.

just like music sounds will also go thru its cycles. we've raved about analog monos for about 10 years now. so maybe its time for the digital stuff.

I was buying old analogs in the 90's. I miss digital synths. I think this is pretty cool. Time for a decade of digital.

I think it's more about deeper access to- and editing of the components of the sounds, real-time performance and programming controls and workflow. Would love to see novation come out with a knobbier, multi-timbral Ultranova 2 for example. Maybe using bs2 tech to add a mono analogue layer to digital wavetable stuff.

It’s a classic synth, more powerful, portable and cheaper. Nothing wrong with that😇.

I'm fully behind the idea of remakes of older digital synths that can be improved on with modern day connectivity and controls.
