In Kōrindō Aikidō, taisabaki is the basic practice to develop a certain mode, a certain feeling of movement. The target is to be able to move continously, round and well in balance so that a force from outside, from whereever it may come, does not find any resistance.
Although the mind-set ist most important, beginners may imagine that the the body center is like a ball that is floating on a river, rotating freely.
Taisabaki can be practiced with bare hands as well as with a sword (ken), a staff (jō), a short sword (kodachi) or any other weapon.
In this short record from 2012, Narita Shinjuro Sensei teaches the basic taisabaki in our dōjō in Munich.
