And here we had Korra in full Beast Mode. Korra in Avatar State while raging is scary as F... Unfortunately, she got hurt real bad this time. Since Korra first came to Republic City the action has been just coming at her. There was only a 3 month gap between seasons 1 and 2, and only a few weeks between 2 and 3. She's been fighting, getting bodied, getting back up, and getting bodied again. Amon took away her ability to bend 3 of 4 elements before being defeated, it was only her connection to her past lives that fixed it. Unalaq ripped the Avatar Spirit out of Korra and all of her elemental bending with it, it took a lot of effort and spirit shenanigans to fix it. Zaheer blew Korra's father off a cliff right in front of her, chained her up, poisoned her, and then tried to rip the air out of her lungs and suffocate her. This time she's been hit so hard that she needs to spend real time recovering. And not just physically, poor girl has been through some serious shit. Comparing Aang's Team Avatar to Korra's Team Avatar is difficult. Korra's enemies are a step or two above most of Aang's. That and the relationship drama amongst Aang's crew was pretty low-key compared to Korra's... I blame it on them being teenagers. Teenagers suck. Great reaction vid, guys. Looking forward to you knocking out the final season.

I wouldn't say that Korra's enemies are a step or two above Aang's. Azula is a fucking beast and wields a lot of firepower, same goes for Zuko though Aang almost always gets the better of him. And Aang fights a lot of generals and high level soldiers, not at the level of some of Korra's villains, but he defeats them almost casually so that says a lot about just how high-level Aang is. Then there's Ozai. Fucking Ozai man, even Iroh doubts he could face him in battle. And when Ozai was an active villain, it was as he was being boosted by a comet.
@destiny483 Жыл бұрын
@@phoebusapollo8365 Azula and Ozai were powerful, I admit. But come on, how can you compare them to a powerful and ancient spirit? I would also like to say that the villains in season 3 are comparable to azula, so imagine korra against 4 azulas? It’s madness tbh. The villains in LOK were definitely tougher and korra was always crippled in each villain fight. I love Aang but if he and korra swapped times, Aang would’ve had it rough too.

Quick reminder about this series: The creators of LOK didn't originally intend to make more then 1 Season, but then they were essentially told by the network to make 3 more Seasons that would air in roughly 2 years because Season 1 was so popular. However, because they were rushed to make them the show wasn't as consistent in quality as TLA was, and by the end of Season 3 the network was tired of the series and didn't even air Season 4 on tv. I personally enjoyed every Season of LOK and feel Season 3 was the best of the 4, but it is sad to hear how Nickelodeon's decisions held the series back.

While traveling with the strongest metal bender of his and most if not all of Korra's time... Nor would he want to learn blood bending... Which korra might think also as being a little much...... Lava was something that only happend at the end of aangs time... / Only in Korra's time... Just like metal bending lava bending is not not something common... As bolin states that 1 of every 100 earthbenders could properly metal bend others might be able to do a little... But don't have the right mentality... Korra can heal... She can turn water into ice and probably steam... Sure we have seen an avatar bend lava before... But that was in the avatar state.. or atleast with the help of it... Like roku only actually bended lava in the avatar state... And she could technically lava bend... Season 3 fight against the red lotus... But again in the avatar state... one thing people don’t seem to remember (and the show is also at fault here for letting us forget about it easily) is that in the first episode of the show it is said that korra has proper control only over fire, although she lacked restraint. that means she was very advanced at firebending, but at the other elements not so much. which is like, the NORMAL. roku took years to master all 4 elements, just like every other avatar before him. aang was the exception.

At the end of ATLA...the Fire Nation had no leverage or negotiation to exploit. It was a race to the goal...and Team Avatar cut off each of the necessary heads before they could achieve victory. Here, the ages of conflict and bending have made the Red Lotus (formerly White) informed on the Avatar's and bending limits. Hence, imprisoning her in platinum and using an irresistible poison. The fledgling Air Nation ARE weak, probably better equipped than some village of non-benders....but these villains have the same bending strength and resources as much of the Fire Nation by the end of ATLA....so they had an overpowered offensive at the Air Temple. Protecting the defenseless is sort of the Avatar's deal.....it's as similar as any of the countless skirmishes that took place with the Fire Nation back in ATLA....all those Earth Kingdom villages and towns? There plan to defeat Zaheer and secure the Airbenders was nearly successful....they took out P'li and nearly arrested Zaheer, but he KO'd Korra in her platinum shackles ans....achieved flight. Absurd odds and unforeseeable circumstances. The main problem here is underestimating Zaheer as well. For any Avatar, he'd be a challenge, because he has complete freedom and Airbending almost beyond the Avatar. Because of this, really, only Aang's ultimate Avatar trick of controlling all the elements while inside a giant Air Scooter for flight....or fire flight with elemental ammunition...is a viable strategy. Zaheer is too elusive and fast....you need speed and flight on his level....and you need a creative elemental flex to disable, KO, or imprison him. Aang's trick achieves this, and it was MORE than enough for Ozai's limited techniques and movement. Korra almost has that level with her fire flight, and ice attacks were a good idea.....but just MORE. Earth was a bad choice, and air is not only her bending weakness, but would probably be neutralized by Zaheer. Only someone like Tenzin or Aang...or all those Airbenders using a supermove....can counter Zaheer with Air. Korra's strengths are water and fire....that's why they got her so far in the fight.....but, the poison deprived us of her true potential.

The problem is Korra is too strong for her supporting cast. Aang didnt learn all the elements until the last season and never mastered avatar state during its run so he needed a supporting cast. Korra started the series with three mastered elements and the avatar state, then mastered air at the end of the first. That makes her the strongest bender before the start of season two. If it wasn't for the poison and fear of using the avatar state she would have took out red lotus solo. The entire show is based on the writers having to nerf Korra to the ground.
@kpuda77222 жыл бұрын
I partly agree with your comment. I don't think Korra ever really mastered air, just learned to make a few basic punches with it (which is much different from the "proper" way of airbending, but it served her in the moment) at the end of season one and gradually became more proficient with time. At this point she could probably teach airbending basics and use a glider (as even Ikki can) but she's far from a master. If she was, especially since mastering the last element is an important sign of the Avatar's complete development and air was very difficult for her, the show would have found some way to say that, just as ATLA did for Aang with air (tattoos) and water (Katara comparing him to a master and solemnly bowing to him). She couldn't go into the Avatar State until the end of season one because of the same spiritual and personality barrier that affected her airbending. I also don't think she was nerfed in the first two seasons. Amon (a man who could bloodbend with his mind and force his opponents' bodies just enough for them to always just miss him and give the impression of being untouchable, as well as casually fling them through the air and take their bending away) and end of season two Unulaq were major threats in their own right. But when the main villain is basically a rookie airbender who can fly, you need a way to make the fight less one-sided than Avatar State Aang vs. Ozai, and the writers decided on a hostage situation and poison.
@LemmingPriest2 жыл бұрын
@@kpuda7722 *Minor spoilers* You're right she's not a true master but just by being able to use more than one element with any proficiency puts her above most just from sheer versatility. She's leagues above any of her companions at least. Nerf might not be the right word. What I mean is Korra was so strong early they had to find interesting ways to give her any challenge. Which ended up being the great villains we got. Amon was a limitless bloodbender that could also take bending. Season two was all about spirits which Korra has no proficiency in and the spirits were pretty much immune to bending except for spiritbending. Season 3 took a turn from overly powerful villians to expand on the side characters. The red lotus is a team of strong benders but they aren't OP. They're good enough to give the side characters some kind of action and growth outside of Korra. Korra never had a fair fight against the red lotus. She fought them once on the mountain while chained up and later while poisoned and still managed to break out before they came to rescue her. She's nerfed all of season four with poison remnants and then PTSD, only to arrive at the final fight back in top form. Korra's like Captain Marvel in endgame. She's so strong having her fight in top form before the very end would make it a short story.

He only seemed weak because he fought Aang who's a prodigy and one of the youngest airbender masters. The only non-avatar firebender who could maybe beat Ozai is uncle Iroh or firelord Sozin 😭 Aang is OP. -mastered air with 12 -He learned 3 elements in less than a year -learned with real dragons fire -His spirituality makes his avatar state powerful af Main villian's strengh list: 1. Amon (mindcontroll daylight bloodbending) 2. Ozai (can spam lightning which can one-shot) 3. Zaheer (can fly and mostly escape a fight when losing + prodigy) 4. Azula (blue flames + prodigy + smart) 5. K****a (Spoiler) 6. Unalaq (spirit bending is not strong technique for fighting) 7. I love this season and this episode is great, specially with the animation Still, I wish they didn't included a metal mixture that can induce the avatar state, why is that even a thing. Something like a hallucination inducing drug would be more fitting, and zaheer just has to cause a powerful emotional reaction that triggers the state

@@megaultrasonic Hmm, not quite perfect. They didn't say the purpose was to endanger her life to activate the avatar state (After all, Roku was in a lot of danger in is last moments and it didn't activate) They said it was a poison they created specifically to induce the avatar state, as if that isn't something no one should be able to do. And your question about how would they extract it, that's actually only makes it worse. Because the poison was only made metallic by the show-runners so it could be extracted, not with any in-world reason

@@Marcel-qb9ge what are you talking about, Zaheer literally says that it will induce the avatar state in an attempt to save her life and fight the poison, and towards the end thinks that she has died because the poison was already in her system for too long... also, you do realize psychedelic mushrooms act as a poison when you consume them and that is a big part of how/why they effect people in the hallucinogenic way that they do, right?

I'd like to amend y'all theory as to why Aang seems stronger. Yes Aangs team is better but also in general the villains Aang fought were weaker than the ones Korra did. Korra fought a psychic bloodbender who could take bending, a Dark Avatar and an elite team of super benders whose leader unlocked the power to fly. So Korra has a worse team and is facing off against stronger foes, she's just got it harder. Only thing I can give Aang is that he had to defeat all his villains while mastering 3 elements in only 8 months whereas Korra had many years to master those same three elements before she ever encountered a villain.
@askyeyv70392 жыл бұрын

If ever there is a series on the Avatar after Korra, I predict Meelo will be one of the villains. Not due to malice or anything, but out of a poorly understood sense of duty. We've seen how effective and ruthless of a leader he can be when he's motivated. And now he's effectively among the elite of what could be considered a global police force. He'll grow up with that as his formative experience and with his talent will likely take up a leading role as soon as he's old enough... I imagine it like this: By the time of the next Avatar, the Air Nomads have split into two loose factions. One is following Jinora's harmonious teachings (who by this time is too old to act in person, but she can still fulfill her leadership role via Astral Projection) while the other rallies behind old man Meelo, much more strict and militant and seeing their role as "the Avatar's peacekeepers" as more important than local customs. While the latter are technically pursuing a positive goal - fairness and order - they do so in a way that often comes off as tyrannical, and they have a tendency to overshoot the goals. Fed with misinformation from various social elites, carrying an unhealthy amount of overcompensation for Zaheer's anarchist actions, and having a claim to being "the Avatar's chosen" (as well as being led by the descendants of _the_ Avatar), they end up somewhat removed from the reality of life outside their temples and end up doing more harm than good. Meelo as their leader however is convinced that his methods are correct and his sisters are unrealistic in their "harmony" approach - after all, if the Air Nation had been stronger back then, they could have prevented so much pain and suffering!

I think Korra seemed a bit weaker in the fight overall, not only because of the poison, but she didn't have any of the other Avatars to help her while in the Avatar state, unlike Aang who had all his past lives available. Also when it came to Ozai vs Aang, none of the supporting cast helped during the actual fight, they helped to weaken the attack but didn't intervene in the actual combat. I do agree that the Gaang overall was more powerful than Team Korra in their time.

Kya was fighting someone that uses innate waterbending. Bumi against the lava bender. Thats without P'li taking shots from above. Korra was forced into giving herself up because of Zaheer's planning not the lack of strength of the supporting cast. He forced the party to split by demanding Korra at Laghima Peak while the "airbenders" were inside the inner rooms of the temple. Close enough for radio signal, but not close enough to provide back up to each other. With the lava man in the temple alone he could destroy (and he did) the whole building taking that group out.
