The irony of Farya asking Kosem how anyone could imagine that a mother would take the life of their own child. Kosem might as well have just snorted and read the history of the harem and sultanate to her.

Farya keeps saying "How was I suppose to know she would do that?" when that's the whole point! You didn't know what she would do in response to finding out she was going to be executed in secret. When you have a plan of attack you don't tell your enemies what your plan of attack is. Especially if you're not going to act on it immediately because then you're giving your enemies time to beat you. Which is exactly what Ayse did all because Farya couldn't keep her mouth shut

If there was no intent to harm the kids, there was no crime. And if it wasn't forseeable it can't really be said to be her fault. Farya probably didn't even know Kosem was letting Ayse see the kids since she was in isolation Farya did make a mistake though going to Ayse's chambers but its hardly surprising given that Ayse killed her baby, wrecked her life, she was probably still grieving. But then again why didn't Murad tell Farya and Kosem what the real sentence was & order them to keep it secret? Why didn't he order Farya not to go to Ayse's chambers since he should have known that was possible? Why did Kosem let Ayse see the kids when she was meant to be in isolation? Why didn't Silahatar do more to prevent Ayse being left alone with the kids when he saw the danger & he was meant to be protecting the sultans family?

No, isolation is not even close to being enough. Ayse committed high treason by stealing Kosem's seal and letting Gulbahar take a copy which caused the capital to burn and thousands of citizens to die, so there was no chance the penalty would be anything less than execution.

I don't really think so. If you watch closely most of the problems involving Farya are actually caused by Murad, Silahatar & Ayse - but Farya usually gets blamed. It's something of a theme. For example - when Farya first arrives at the palace, Kosem wants to send her to Uskadr palace but Murad decides to keep her there (at Silahatars suggestion). Kosem assumes that Farya talked Murad into it & gets really mad at her. But Farya knew nothing about it & she hadn't talked to Murad about it at all. In fact Farya was packed and already to go to Uskadr, and she actually wanted to leave altogether to save her mother but Murad wouldn't let her go.

Ironic that kosem trusted sanavber, who was a spy. Guess her guard was down in her hatred of farya (who I can't stand at all either). Yeah I get why kosem doesn't trusty her, but sanavber's plot line kind of reminds me of yasmin and kosem fell for gulbahar's trick just as much as humasah did with safiya. Sorry, I don't follow why quite a few viewers liked seeing a slightly built almost defenceless young woman murdered in her sleep by 3 full grown men, one of whom is supposedly a great & brave warrior. Particularly when the young woman has not done anything wrong intentionally / willingly, she is the faithful wife of Kosem's son & best friend of her daughter, she is the mother of Kosem's newbown grandchildren, she is not Kosem's enemy & she saved Kosem's life by exposing Sanavber as a spy when Sanavber had been poisoning Kosem,.The way Kosem & Kermankes' characters had been depicted to that point, it's not even plausible that they would have done it at that time. Simply put I think those murders are terrible writing which makes the show jump the shark & become a hot mess until Ibrahim becomes sultan. And if those 2 murders were such a brilliant masterstroke by Kosem, its worth asking how Kosem would have felt if Atike committed suicide because her husband & best friend are murdered in the same night or if Murad demanded that Kosem swear on her children that she did not order the murders, or if Murad just summarily executed Kosem or Kermankes out of hand on suspicion. I think the main problem with season 2 is that it didn't have a credible long term villain who could exude menace like Safiye Sultan or Halime Sultan in season 1. So the writers probably decided very late in the piece to make Kosem the arch villain for the rest of the season, and that doesn't really work until Ibrahim becomes sultan. And yes we know Farya is anything but defenceless in the daytime when she has her Katana and can see her enemies approach but that wasn't the case here

@shirereeve287

While I can understand some viewers hold to that theory, I don't see the evidence for it. We never see Farya herself do or say anything suggesting she has an interest in ruling. Farya never discusses Ottoman politics with Murad, the closest she gets to it was asking Murad for mercy for the young man who was outside without a lantern, but Murad disdainfully tells her to stay out of his business, sends her back to the palace & then comes back from hunting later with Sanavber as his new favourite. Farya didn't even know that Kosem had been banished to the old palace till Atike tells her & even then Farya did not know why. The only thing that even hints at Farya having some interest in ruling is an absurd 2nd hand comment from the ridiculous Catherine of Brandenburg character. But as the writers like to send mixed messages, it's better to rely on what the characters do & say themselves to help understand their motivations. So the idea that Farya was interested in ruling or that she may have been trying to turn Murad against Kosem is a nonsense. They are red herrings. Based on Farya's own words & deeds, her only interest is to love & support Murad & (if possible) to give him sons, to have & raise a family with him & to help Murad be the best he can be, which is exactly what you would hope to see from a loving & dutiful wife of the Sultan. There is quite a symbolic scene midway through season 2, where Murad finishes dressing in front of a mirror as Farya helps with the finishing touches & she then stands behind him looking over his shoulder at his reflection in the mirror beaming with love & affection at her husband whom she is clearly very proud of. It's helpful to contrast that scene with Murad's enthronement scene where Kosem stands in front of Murad (not behind him like Farya does) & casts shade on him. Though Kosem may suspect that Farya wants to rule as that is what Kosem would want to do if she was in Farya's place. Kosem probably also worries that Farya's primary loyalty is to her husband & not to her; unlike Ayse & Turhan who Kosem mistakenly thought were loyal to her. Sadly, the writers don't give Farya a chance to show Kosem how much she loves Murad; unlike in season 1 where the writers have Anastasia stay with Sultan Ahmed when he has small pox which shows Handan Sultan that Anastasia truly loves Ahmed. And even if you are correct, its still too much of a stretch to believe that Kosem & Kermankes would stoop so low at that stage, as there was nowhere near enough justification & as they had not been depicted as being that cowardly, cruel or evil by that stage. It was also really stupid for Kosem to do this as it could easily have backfired & resulted in Atike committing suicide &/or Murad executing Kosem or Kermankes out of hand on suspicion. But Kosem & Kermankes are given the plot armor for the murder normally reserved for Sinan Pasha's nefarious actions. So it seems clear that the murder is just appallingly bad writing done because there was no genuine long term villain; so the writers decided to suddenly parachute Kosem into that arch villain spot. And just to loop this back to this scene, Kosem's decision to murder Farya allows Farya's twin newborn baby princes (Kosem's grandsons) to be kidnapped & murdered by Gulbahar Sultan & Sinan Pasha. Because if Farya had lived, she would have protected her sons & watched over them like a hawk & prevented the kidnap. So ironically Kosem was probably more responsible for the deaths of 2 of her own grandchildren than Farya was for the deaths of 2 of Kosem's other grandchildren (i.e the ones who Ayse murdered). @@monikajain7803

@shirereeve287
@shirereeve287 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to say but the blood is not on Farya's hands at all. Its on Ayse's hands alone as she intentionally murdered her own children, no one else did. That said, Farya should never have told Ayse & she should have handled this conversation with Kosem better, but she didn't have any intent & she didn't even contemplate possible consequences. Plus Silhatar & Lalezar should both have prevented Ayse being left alone with her children but both failed woefully. And Murad should have told Kosem about the execution warrant but he didn't and Kosem shouldn't have ordered that Ayse could see her children again but she did. And Kosem and Murad shouldn't have let Ayse stay in the palace after Ayse's first betrayal but they ended up letting her stay anyway. If any of those 4 people did even one of those things differently then Ayse couldn't have murdered her own children. So its illogical and unfair for the writers to make Farya the scapegoat for this.

@shirereeve287
@shirereeve287 Жыл бұрын
This is a fantastic scene. Kosem's eye roll when she finds out that Farya told Ayse is epic. Farya should have handled this conversation better. She just needed to silently listen while Kosem vented, say she regrets telling Ayse, that she made bad mistake & she will accept whatever consequences Kosem sees fit. Had she done that Kosem may have forgiven her. Normally, Farya admits her mistakes & accepts responsibility even if it may mean her own death, like when she explains her betrayal to Murad, or when she admits to Kosem to almost drowning Ayse. While Farya is not actually responsible for the deaths of Murad's children, she should still not have told Ayse. Ayse alone was responsible as she alone murdered them, & Farya did not know what Ayse would do. Plus Silahatar & Lalezar Kalfa should have stopped Ayse being alone with the children but both failed. Also it could never have happened without Kosem & Murad making the decisions they did. Also Silhatar doesn't tell Kosem that he saw the danger but failed to do anything other than telling Lalezar not to leave Ayse alone with her children (which was completely inadequate). But Farya's refusal to accept any responsibility is still surprising & inconsistent with her character. Storyline wise the only explanation I can think of why Farya acted that way is that she had been so worn down by the terrible things that happened to her, in particular by the murder of her unborn baby, by Murad betraying her with Sanavber & by Murad blaming her for his children dying even before he finds out that Farya told Ayse. Sadly characters doing things that are inconsistent with their character in order to drive the plot line is common in season 2 unfortunately.

I don’t understand why everyone is so convinced Ayse was this selfless martyr and that Farya was this evil woman. Literally ALL of Ayse’s actions that eventually led to her taking her own life and then MURDERING her children were incredibly selfish. If you want to say Farya (in the context of the show-I know she’s not a historical figure) didn’t understand her place in the harem that’s fair BUT she was a free woman and of royal blood and made it clear to Murad she would not be another one of his concubines. Also at this point she is his legal wife. So if Farya didn’t know her place... clearly neither did Ayse. She was immediately jealous of Farya, tried to have her killed and did everything in her power to separate them, so how exactly is that her being selfless and following the etiquette of the harem? And if you want to say she was the mother of a prince and had higher rank, ok, but that all changed when Farya was pregnant. They were on equal footing. Then Ayse had an unborn child murdered, an assumed prince of the empire. Then to cover that up she caused the deaths of hundreds again in an incredibly selfish effort to keep murad away from Farya and caused a dangerous riot. Then when confronted with the possibility of being held accountable for her own actions (that no one made her do) she decided to murder her children to spite her husband and more than likely to cause the blame to fall on Farya, hence the note. Selfish through and through.

Agree 100% but sadly Farya couldn't always take care of herself within the harem, or the mansion or the bazaar. She needed more protection than she got from Murad. Compare how well Sultan Ahmed protected Anastasia/Kosem after she arrived in the harem in season 1 with how Murad protects (or doesn't protect) Farya. Farya would also have benefitted a lot from having an experienced servant who was savvy about how things worked in the harem, Anastasia/Kosem got this with Cennette Kalfa and to a degree with Bulbul Agha, but Farya only ever had Madame Margrette who like herself was also a novice about the harem. In my view, Farya should have taken Narin into her service after Ayse died, as Narin was very loyal, clever, gave good advice, knew how things worked in the harem, knew how to get information & knew how to recruit spies. And yes, I agree that Farya didn't really need protection if she was out in broad daylight, had her Katana in hand and could see her enemies approaching but that wasn't ever the case in the harem.
