MASSIVE COOL!! I’ve never even CONSIDERED pinching as a technique. Even stuck flat on the back in a prone position or ground guard position, it seems extremely effective. Thank you. I will DEFinitely teach it to my daughter!

Could you make also a coverage of what techniques judo and aikido share?

Nice demo. I have studied Aikido and Judo and I really like koshinage as it is similar to ogoshi. Pinching the skin under the upper arms also works as means to get the assailant to release or at least loosen their grip. Even if they don't let go, it distracts them enough so you can move into position to execute the koshinage.

I've always loved Aikido, don't study it, but love it, never doubted you guys lol But one question I do have is, since Aikido is, or seems more the reactive martial art, what about scenarios where you have to get past a couple guys down a narrow hallway? Say they're blocking you, and know you're an Aikido student who doesn't do drop kicks or anything else lol, knows about as much offense as the average person? You have to get through, but whatever you chose to do will be amature bc you only do aikido. See what I mean? In a general sense, this art seems to have the shield but not the sword. It seems to lack applicability in the wider scope of things, I wonder if it isn't the byproduct of Buddhism... But idk

This is why i think it is important for aikido practitioners to learn how to punch , kick , elbow and so on in order to evolve the art .

I like the technique and I think it would be interesting to see how aikido would break judo gi grips. I think inorder to have effective aikido you need to know the weaknesses of every jujitsu/judo technique so you can diffuse and counter it.

From the time of his youth (Osenseih, he studied various martial arts, eventually including sumo, swordsmanship, spear technique, staff technique, and various styles of jiujutsu, particularly the Yagyu and Daito styles. Knowing sumo and jujutsu and judo makes sense of making aikido functional. Watch a sumo fight and you tell me you can't see certain aikido principles there

Hell yeah... it's direct, explosive and everything is done for a functional purpose, so it basically just does what it's supposed to do, so you get to go home. Unfortunately, aikido like this is beyond my reach (not found near me) I enjoy the class I take but all the traditional fluff just.........wears me thin and I don't feel safe. That's why I'm going to leave for something better.
