Just as a quick note, I know that the afterburners engaging is when the thrust nozzles are wide open and not tapered. I accidently mixed that up during the recording, and missed it during editing. Hopefully that doesn't affect your viewing experience of this review, and I apologize for the mistake.

I actually pre-ordered this thing last year, and this was the first release of the Mihaly version which I think is all sold out. There is however a re-release of this version which is coming out in August, as well as an Osean version of it. I did a quick check for you and it seems you can still pre-order the Mihaly version on Amiami.com since Hobby Search reservations are closed.

Waterslide decals are awesome! Try spraying uv-protection dull-coat and they’re pretty much sealed in! (and gloss dullcoat for the cockpit)

Yeah, I know what the weapon is called. It is essentially a railgun though by function, as railguns use electro magnetism to fire projectiles or energy

To be completely honest; I really love the idea that Cipher 032 called this most special powerful weapon a railgun, or the E.M.L. which is stand for [Electro-Magnetic-Launcher].

Thanks for making and sharing this review, I've ordered a model from hobbysearch for myself now. Just FYI though, the thrusters actually open up when the afterburner is on and close up at normal speed, you got them the other way round.

I love this thing, but I don't understand how every Kotobukiya product is so bloody expensive. This thing is tiny and probably cost them a few bucks to produce, if that. Their quality is second to Bandai in most cases, but their prices are always at LEAST double or triple what a Bandai kit would be.

Yoooo this is super cool. I didn't know some models come pre painted. The idea of painting one of these kinda ruins it for me. But now I might have to give building one a try.

I agree! I don't like painting (I also don't trust my hand with a paint brush), but that's why I like Kotobukiya for designing both a painted and a "for modelers" edition for both audiences.

Their is a way to keep the decals from sliding off the model. You would need to get some varnish spray. Varnish spray is basically a clear coat that can keep the models paint and stickers/ decal from coming off.

I just found out today that the ADF-11x (white) and ADF-11 (black) is available for preorder. Unfortunately Adf-11 (black) is sold out but the white version is still available on HobbyLinkJapan

heads up, closed nozzle means afterburners are NOT engaged. Open nozzle is where the after burners are engaged.

Thanks for the review but... waterslide decals are the staple for model kit building. You need to clear coat once they have been placed.

Yeah, I realize that now. This is the first aircraft model kit I've dealt with, so I wasn't used to this style of decal since other ones I've assembled were just normal stickers. But, don't get me wrong. I didn't fault the model kit in this review for having waterslide decals. It was only a personal gripe for me since I found them difficult to handle for my first time, but was not indicative of a fault/bad side of the product.

That would've been a cool idea. It's just a shame that the good collector's editions for the Ace Combat games are usually exclusive to Japan. Ace Combat 7 actually came with a Jacket, and a few squadron patches.

Even so that's still no excuse for them to treat everyone else different the least they could've done was to give everyone the same edition japan had. When I think about it bandai has always done that with their collector editions. I don't understand why. But hey at least I'm thankful that we got an actual ace combat game again. I only played 5 6 and 7 and I gotta say 5 is my favorite one.

Yes, this is already pre-coloured. There is another version of this model named "For modelers" version which is unpainted.

Yeah, honestly a 1/72 scale Strike Wyvern would be perfect. Just the right size, and maybe with some diecast metal parts. Who knows if that will ever happen though
