I remember watching 'Butterflies are free', many years ago. I thought Edward Albert was one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen. However, he was so much more than a good-looking, brilliant (underated) actor and great singer. He did a lot of charity work behind the scenes, that we'll never know about. It wasn't 'advertised' back then, as it is now....Entertainers like Edward are getting rarer by the decade. RIP to a gentle, magnanimous soul, who passed far too young.🌹

I always admired the talents of Edward but when I saw the classic, "Forty Carats" I was smitten. Besides being a beautiful person but inside and out, apparently, he had a passion for the environment and also was a caregiver to his elderly dad. I can relate to that having taken care of my mom for five years. How sad he had to leave us at such a young age. He married a fellow actress ten years older, which I thought was great, and they had a daughter. A beautiful man which is a rarity in Hollywood, so I hear.

I just watched 40 carats...twice. Edward was so very, very handsome. I'm so sad that he's gone and that he passed away so early. So touching to see the love and care he had for his father, how close they were.

Edward Albert told the story of HOW his father taught him those manners. They were dining out when Edward was a teen, and he did'nt like the many people interrupting their meal.He said his father reminded him that these people coming up,WERE the reason they had their lifestyle.I had ONLY know Eddie Albert as an older actor,"Green Acres".I found out he was in many, many movies. One of my all-time faves:"Roman Holiday" with Gregory Peck & Audrey Hepburn.

He was basically a real nice guy and down to earth. His father was like that too. He was married to Katherine Woodville for 27 years and they had a child. Highly inteligent, he was fluent in English, Spanish, French, Portugese and Mandarin Chinese, however he never showed it. very modest. Was his father Eddie Albert's primary caregiver during his final years.

Not only was he a talented actor but a good person from everything that I have read. He took care of his ailing father for years. He was a staunch environmentalist and cared about real things in life. I loved him in 40 Carats with Liv Ullman.

Just seeing this. What a beautiful tribute! Edward befriended me around 1972...I was a musician..a southern boy that had just moved (on my own) to California. Edward and I were about the same age...18-19. I would hang out at their house...Edward and I would play guitars and just cut-up like teenagers do!:>) Sometimes Eddie Sr. would join in with us. At that time he lived with his Dad, Mom & Sister...he later got his own place...and we SURE did some cutting-up there!:>) I came back to the South early 74...and unfortunately, Edward and I lost touch with each other. Many memories! A stand-out memory for me (and a story all of you that loved him can appreciate) was the night they were all going to the premier of his debut movie, "Butterflies Are Free." Edward asked me to go along with them...even gave me a cool "Hollywood Style" jacket to wear! On the way to the place I was staying (to get ready) I had a terrible wreck (the injuries of which showed up years later...complications from whiplash, etc.) I called Edward and told him my car was totaled but that I was alright...just a few bruises and scratches (little did I know!!) and I couldn't make it back to their house. Now, there he was... the biggest nite of his life at that point. Edward knew I really wanted to go. His sister came out and picked me up. By the time we arrived at their house, it was really putting them behind schedule (I remember Eddie Sr. being a bit miffed..because they were running so late...understandably!) But that was Edward for you! I was just a nobody punk kid...and Edward & his sister (I think her name was Maria) stopped the presses to see to it that I could go!!. We went to the premier...it was a blast! And they had me spend the night with them and took care of me...made sure I was alright. If I live to be 100, I'll never forget that! Edward and his family....loving, caring..CLASS ACT all the way! RIP Edward!

I think people need to see this video and read up a little on Edward and his father to understand why Edward's career as an actor, especially a movie actor, seemed to languish over the years, especially considering what a promising start he made in "Butterflies are Free". Acting was a sidelight to Edward--a way to earn a living, to get the bills paid; and at times a fun and interesting hobby as well. Edward was far more interested in living a real and loving life to the full than he ever could have been in seeking the falseness of awards and accolades and top billing. He was far too concerned--and happy--with the lifelong pursuit of learning to be an emotionally and spiritually well-adjusted human being. That's the TRUE gift his father gave him :). Being a top star requires doggedness and single-minded ambition, to the point of myopia. That could never have been Edward Albert Jr. /// I could not ever profess to know Edward as well as you do. I never had the privilege of meeting him. In fact, it was an interest in some of his father's songs from the 50's and 60's that first took me to the final interviews with his father. Then I learned of Edward's death from lung cancer within eighteen months of his father's death, and that gave me a sense of angst along with a sense of relief too, because his father didn't know about it and didn't have to go through it. Finally I came upon this tribute to Edward, while in-between reading different material on the subject. I feel I have a pretty fair idea of who Edward Albert Jr. really was now. /// Finally, I keep this in my "Watch Later" on KZbin. I still find myself strangely drawn to it at times, and I watch it again. It certainly inspires me in a deep way that I'm not even sure of knowing quite how, nor do I feel able to explain it well either.

@@michaelconnor5378 I never thought JMV was a great actor. He certainly wasn't nearly as handsome as EAJr. I will confide though, I just loved JMV in the "Mechanic," with Charles Bronson. They don't make 'em like they used to.

This "September Song" is one of the loveliest tunes I ever heard but is also nostalgic for me as well. After all, September comes close to the end of the year. A lot of versions from this song comes to mind a popular tune back in the 60s, "See you in September."
