i remember reading a story abt someone who installed the horse overhaul mod. they left their horse at the top of a mountain and called it with a whistle. a few seconds later u could see the horse's corpse tumbling down the mountainside. someone forgot to turn on its essential status!

I'm pretty sure the horses of skyrim are supposed to be bigger and look tougher considering most of skyrim is 30 degrees below zero with them trying to build so many buildings with ginormous stone slabs and blocks

Yeah, this is one of the things I didn’t like about the mods that slim the horses, as Skyrim is a cold and harsh environment, so having huge wooly Clydesdales/Shire type horses makes more sense.

CONVENIENT HORSES is game changing!!! Adds tons (optionally unlimited) storage until you get back home, and you can change the tack of your horse (its saddle/ armor) at will.

The main feature of the Improved Horse Step Sound mod is that the sound changes moment by moment depending upon what kind of surface you're riding over at the time. Not just muffling the sound when running on grass, for example, but newly recorded sounds of horsehoofs on grass! And the quality of the sounds is really good. It's very immersive!

Don't get me wrong I like your streams as well, but I have to say I have missed the Lets plays and Mod compilations. Mod compilation Koubitz: Soothing voice: I am not really a big fan of this feature, but I think some of you will really like it. Kobuitz during lets plays: I WILL FUCKING SKEWER YOU AND THEN SHIT ON YOUR CORPSE! The "mild" whiplash I get when switching between videos really adds to the experience.

I just started playing Skyrim. I had been playing Red Dead Redemptions2 forever. I hated the way the horses movements were before mods ( I knew nothing about mods before this game ) fighting on vanilla horses is impossible let alone trying to get off the horse fats enough when a huge bear jumps you and then have to wait for the horrible dismount that takes forever. Being able to call your horse I think is important. Nothing worse then always having to take half hour to try and find your horse. Thanks for making this video to show which mix is best to use.

Also Apachii Divine Elegance store, it adds armor that is more or less accurate for females that ride horses. I disapprove of the height of the heels, other than that, it is pretty accurate for a Noble woman riding a horse.

As a horse lover, I love what these mods add/change. Skyrim horses look like a cross between a heavy horse and a pony, which just makes for a weird appearance. If they went with pure heavy horse look they'd actually look very good. (Pure pony would be too small for the context of most PCs and NPCs.) And Convenient Horses and IHSS are a great mods feature wise. It is a shame my PC cannot handle anything other than the feature change mods due to CPU and GPU limitations. But I will save this to a playlist for when I have a better PC. In the meantime, thanks for this video.

Good list, I stumbled upon Horses Revamped last week while searching for new horse meshes cuz the vanilla ones are lacking. I still think horses are too small overall. BTW, NKY 3rd person Camera is a wonderful mod to control all aspects of the camera, and combined with the Horsing Around mod you can set the cam for horse riding past the game's limitations. Try them out.

My personal favorite retexture is Realisitic Primitive Horse Breeds! But it really is all about preference. I would say that pretty much every other mod here is a standard for a modded game!

I'd recommend "Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul" instead of "Better Fast Travel". CFTO is well updated, very stable, realistic, and contains most of BFT's features. BFT, as of now, isn't stable and can cause save bloating as well as other issues. I'd also recommend a mix of "Immersive Horses" and "Craftable Horse Barding" over "Convenient Horses" for similar reasons. For heavily modded games, running less scripts in the background is optimal. It should probably be covered in a different video; but, the convenient horses in Skyrim SE is not the same as the version for regular Skyrim. It is loosely based on the original design, but much of the bloat was cut out, simplifying the mod, while adding more practical features as well as new saddle options that looks far better than the original saddle appearances. Also, the mod is much more immersive now, meaning you actually have to go through a physical tutorial process to learn that you have to build a relationship with your horse to improve it over time. I didn't like all the bloat in the original one, the new one is a massive improvement.

I hate that no one has ever been able to properly implement mounted enemies and mounted combat without a ton of glitches. You can have your followers have horses sure. But without mounted enemies being on a horse usually means being overpowered in open field combat.

Horses are my main mode of travel because fast travel breaks inversion. I do feel sad when I have a follower without a horse as they struggle to keep up. Yea, I have 1 million gold but that doesn’t mean I should buy everyone in my entourage a horse! There are mods that addition type of horses to Skyrim, palominos and such. There is a covered carriage mod to give travelers some protection from the elements while riding a carriage. There is mod that let’s you view the scenery while travelling by cart instead of fast travelling to your destination.

I use Immersive Horses (both for normal and special edition) because for whatever reason Convenient Horses always causes my game to crash either on saving or on a load screen. Had the same thing happen on both versions and when I disabled CH it worked fine so I know that's the cause, I just don't know WHY it does it for some reason. Thanks for the mods though I've now found a few other mods to help make my game so much more immersive!

I would love to use horses in my Skyrim, but I always crash. Even in special edition, the game simply can’t handle horse travel. I refuse to play vanilla skyrim. So I guess I am running everywhere now. (I also don’t like fast travelling)

Is there any Horse Mod for Skyrim LE you pobably know of, that offers colour variations, more realistic looking horses (not like a Brewery Horses) , is compatible with Convinient Horses and comes as an All-in-One Version?
