Magdalena Kozena brings great intensity to this performance, and Gardiner provides an accompaniment of comparable feeling. One of my very favourite Bach recordings.

Since Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau I cannot remember a singer who is naturally gifted to Bach music. Kozena voice has the heaven gifted voice that Bach Cantatas want.

I once heard a singer talk about how she felt 'her heart opening' when she sang this aria, and I honestly don't think there is a better way to describe the feeling this aria gives... Unimaginable beauty!

Magdalena Kozena singt und ist so schön wie ein Engel. Diese herrliche Kantate hat sie vor knapp 12 Jahren während der peregrinage mit Sir Eliot Gardiner in einer abgelegenen, imponenten Kirche in Schottland aufgeführt. Was für ein Privilig für die Hörer! Wie schade dass Aufnahmen der Bachkantaten mit Magdalena nur begrenzt im KZbin zu finden sind!
