@@denisepaulsenful yeah I would definitely say you can tell the difference between Craig being friends/liking his guests, just enjoying his guest, and tolerating/disliking his guest. @acarlovonsexron19946 жыл бұрын
F E It was pretty good, but him doing it everyday you could tell it started to run him down a bit. He left a little over a year into a two year deal to do a movie in Scotland. The guests weren't always as high caliber as he got on CBS, some would say it was missing the interaction between him and Josh Robert Thompson. I don't know if it would have worked out because the couple of times early on Josh was a guest it seems Josh still had a chip on his shoulder over the LLS ending, so there was a little tension there, but he did have Joe Bolter, who was the front half of Secretariat as co host and he was adorable if a little over his head when it came to keeping up with Craig. I will say over the run of the show it seemed he was becoming more and more reclusive, saying he didn't want to ever do TV again- certainly not a late night show- and toward the end he said he was only going to write books and perform stand up live, never to be recorded- so no more specials. He mentioned he had turned a lot of things down including talk show offers, and he also quit social media entirely. He did the show from his guest house just so he didn't have to drive and said he often went weeks at a time not leaving his property. He seemed to be burnt out on both Hollywood and really just the state of the country at the moment, frankly it wouldn't surprise me he if he just moved back to Scotland entirely with his family. But also what I gathered is he is a fickle guy who self admittedly has a hard time being comfortable doing or not doing anything. A malcontent he called it. That's why he started the radio show to begin with-boredom. But the show itself was pretty good and he seemed to enjoy doing it, just not everyday for weeks at a time. I really don't know why he won't just do a podcast in the vain of Joe Rogan and most other long form "interviewers" trying to do it now, because he would blow them away. He's clearly still the best conversationalist since the greats like Tom Snyder, while also being much, much funnier and warmer.

Great to see Craig outside of his show environment. I was particularly interested because although I'm a few years older than Craig, I was born in Glasgow, Scotland; have spent quite some time in the US, but now live in Australia. I know first hand what they speak of when they talk about "now thinking as an American". For those who resent Americans because of the war situations they are now in, it's important to realize that far from all Americans are in favor with the internal and foreign politics do NOT think the same as the US Government.

+James Caldwell Thank for your insightful defense of the average American. We realize that the government we have seen evolve since the mid 1960's has deteriorated to it's current dysfunctional state. I think there is a mix of incompetent and sinister forces responsible. The sinister forces have quickened their pace since 9/11/2001. Most Americans are not tyrants, bullies, or greedy. We try to improve ourselves and the world every day. We loathe our surveillance state gone wild. We yearn for our government to adhere to the principles of our forefather's Constitution--- Not the perverse legal manipulation of it---Not the 'lip service'. Those of us that are old enough recall a time when the spirit of our cherished Constitution and Bill of Rights was in the hearts and minds of both citizens and public officials. We remember how important it is to 'do the right thing and do things right'.
@DrBliss239 жыл бұрын
Well said. I think people like yourself should, however, take comfort in the fact that you haver a constitution at all. Many so-called free western countries have no bill of rights, and constitutions which are Kafka'esque. In other words, you guys have something to fight for, and you have the right to do so enshrined in these documents. This is a unique blessing that billions do not share.

I never understood why he had such a small budget he couldnt have a band or sidekick...Regardless, Craig's personality makes me laugh - he is genuinely funny, unlike Kimmel who relies on clips, and sour-unless-he's-doing-a-song-parody Jimmy Fallon. Craig is probably getting out of the talk show business at the right time. Thx for this interview

His whole idea was to not be the same as every other late night talk show. He has the budget to have a band, a real sidekick, usual segments. All the stuff he does is not scripted, he just plays with it, its why he gets the best out the guests.

I don't think he wanted a band, he just liked to joke they didn't have the budget. Most of the CBS cracks were just jokes. I personally loved the robot and it did end being his sidekick. It was voiced by the guy that did his pre show warm up act. I also think that for the first year or so he really thought they wouldn't keep him. Once he got more confident and felt secure you could see the show make some changes. And it actually got much better.

As an ex Muslim atheist (agnostic to be specific), Craig nailed it with what America means to people who grew up in theocracies. America to my knowledge is the only country that's built on enlightenment values and I really hope it stays that way. Americans think it's the worst time now with identity politic civil war etc. Y'all have no fuckin idea how much of a heaven today's America is. Oh yeah, America today is a billion times better than where I live in. Here's how I'm gonna prove that. I can't even name my country for the fear of my fucking life. Being an ex Muslim is a death sentence where I'm at. Sure, America isn't perfect. No fucking country is. But I would gladly pick America anyday. If you disagree. Cool. But do try living in an Islamic governed country. Actually don't coz you might get killed. And that Craig Larry King impersonation bit at the end. He's the best

I think, sadly, that naturalized citizens like Craig have more love and appreciation for America than most people who were born here. It's really sad.
