RIP Steve Clark. He was Def Leppard. He contributed 90 percent of the song writing’s and guitar solos from when the band got together till he passed away 1991. Gone but never forgotten. We love and miss you.

Haha, 25 years ago, I also expected the title track to this album to be heavy, and instead found this. It converted me from a big fan to realizing they were my favourite band - that’s still the case to this day. …and you’re the first person I’ve heard in all these years that also loved the “dream me off my feet” line - perfect.

Maybe somebody said this. But, the drummer lost his left arm in a car accident. The band stuck with him and he is still playing in the band, including this song. 🙂

Back in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit, Rick Savage ( bass player) put his jacket up for auction he wore it at the 1988/89 MTV Awards... it's a beautiful light blue leather jacket!!! I ended up paying $1000 USD for it!! I seen these guys 18 times, and they're doing another tour here soon!!!

Def Leppard were a quintessential 80's rock band, but they said they felt musically closer to pop bands like Duran Duran than heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden... Their 1987 album 'Hysteria' actually outsold Michael Jackson's 'Bad' album by 1989. It came after the tragedy of their drummer Rick Allen losing his arm in a car accident in late 1984 at age 21... He spent over a year in recovery and learned to play drums w/ 1 arm & 2 feet (which he does in this music video) and returned to the stage in 1986 on drums w/ Def Leppard, and is still in the band. Musically, Def Leppard were big fans of pop rock bands like Mott the Hoople and Blondie... as well as Queen (who inspired their vocal harmonies) and David Bowie... They debuted in 1980 w/ a guitar-driven album 'On through the night'... but explored more elaborate pop rock influences w/ the 2nd album "High n' dry" (1981)... 'Pyromania' (1983) became a huge hit in America, selling 10 million copies. After a long hiatus following Rick Allen's car accident, Def Leppard made a futuristic-sounding record 'Hysteria' in 1987 that sold 12 million copies in the US and brought the band back from financial ruin. Sadly, the next album was delayed by guitarist Steve Clark and his battle w/ sobriety and addiction. He died in early 1991 after a long struggle. Def Leppard completed the 'Adrenalize' album by 1992 w/ guitarist Phil Collen playing all of Clark's parts, and then guitarist Vivian Campbell joining to take Clark's spot. 'Adrenalize' and the 1996 album 'Slang' were even more pop-oriented than Def Leppard's 80's records, and the band's popularity declined in the 90's. Def Leppard remade their rock sound in 1999 w/ the 'Euphoria' album... then tried another pop album 'X' in 2002. In 2005, their 'best of' double CD 'Rock of ages' (and covers album 'Yeah!') made a huge comeback for Def Leppard, and their concerts and record sales surged. in the next 2 decades... They released fairly successful albums 'Songs from the Sparkle Lounge' (2009) ... 'Def Leppard' (2015) and 'Diamond star halos' (2022)... Def Leppard just completed a stadium tour of the US and plan to tour Europe and South America in 2023.

Dear Rana, very nice reaction! Deaf Leppard are an awesome band and they were really huge in the 80ies. Although this is one of their softer songs and I'm more into their heavier stuff, it's still a good song. By the way, you are looking so cute and adorable with this outfit (of course you are always very pretty:-)), I love it ❤️

I miss this era so much. 😢 The women were hot, the music was great, people connected more than they do now because there was no phones, no computers, no video games. Just go cruising and listen to loud music. You see someone you knew at a hang out spot, you stop and hang out. Nowadays people don't meet people or hang out in person anymore. Life felt like life back then.

@TheRetroManRandySavage2 жыл бұрын
Not even close. By the time the Hysteria album came out they was more pop rock. Everything on their first three albums is heavier than sugar. Wasted, rocks off, let it go and high n dry is the heaviest they ever went. Give them a listen, you'll be surprised how heavy those songs are.👍

3:51 This is kind of unwittingly apropos, though. A lot of us who were teenagers who had this cassette tape when the album was released had no girlfriend at the time. It was weird. I had like 50 friends at the time. Maybe 10 of them had girlfriends. So you had people listening to music about love with no relationship and nothing on the horizon. Quite odd. Welcome to Gen X.

Music these days is just worn out bubblegum and auto tune. Talent is gone. Few pop musicians these days. Anybody with Macbook can spit a song out. Ya don't have killer vocals like a Steve Perry or Joe Elliott anymore. I mean who could even sound like Brian Johnson of AC/DC. Musicians these days are far and few between too. Show me an Eddie Van Halen or Angus Young. I could create a wider list of talent but you get my drift.
