I love that the instrumental feels like its always changing like it starts off as a trance R&B song then transitions into a soft pop song that builds into a stadium pop song at the end. And the Sulli reference is also beautifully incorporated

@@AZODi it's the vocal part that transitions the first verse into the pre chorus 43 seconds in. It's the same part from Sulli's song Goblin. It's really quick so a lot of people understandably miss it. I only caught onto it when a musician on twitter pointed it out

My favorite part in terms of music is the second pre-chorus, and in choreo the outro/double chorus. Seulgi's arms (she's center and wearing the most black lace) accompany the music so beautifully. Aesthetically, this MV was gorgeous. Thank you for always breaking down everything so nicely.

Not my favorite part per se but I really liked how they first tricked the audience with a hinted sudden false ending (when the door shuts) then the second repeat of the second chorus for the rhythm and overall music simultaneously going contrary to one another: the beat turns more intense - rising the tension - while the instrumentation slowly brings the tension down hinting the end of the piece. I also enjoyed the other elements you've pointed at. Probably my favorite song of 2019. I was looking forward to your reaction/analysis. You didn't disappoint ;)

The thing with the verses is there isn't an actual bass but an 808 bass that is covering the brass in the verses. Along with the oscillation of the arps and the arpeggiated percussions which gave such a nice vibe. Finally, that chorus synth was insanely nostalgic, it enhanced the chorus feeling by a ton.

Happy New Year, great to start 2020 with one of your reaction videos, I enjoyed the tune greatly. If I am not mistaken, the "spiccato" technique is when one bounces the bow on the string (not as much as ricochet or sautille though), whereas "staccato" would be the detaché articulation, which is normally less powerful in terms of attack, unless played marcato. Happy to stand corrected if I am mistaken 🙂
@AZODi5 жыл бұрын
HNY to you too! yeah ure prob right tbh haha I only know how it sounds from listening and playing around with orchestral libraries, but I never see HOW they are played! Across the board tho staccato would be the most aggressive sounding sample, thats going off libraries like ALBION, Kontakt and 8Dio. Spicc yeh that sounds more right, sounds bouncy lol I thought marcato was more of a sustained playing style as opposed to an attacking one? not sure tho!
@MusicalWizardryMarcoIannello5 жыл бұрын
@@AZODi it is most correct to say that certain staccato samples in Albion sound very powerful, I can confirm that for Albion ONE for certain. Marcato applies to both short and long notes, in Spitfire libraries it is classed as a longer short articulation, in other libraries it is available for both short and long notes. And of course one can layer marcato with other artics for an even more accentuated effect
@AZODi5 жыл бұрын

i would say that the Pre-chorus is always more of a climax for me than the Chorus. i would put most Choruses as the least interesting parts of the song *until they finally add the ad libs*. The most important part of the songs is the bridge. You can't go wrong with an IU type bridge, so i'm pretty happy with that current trend.

Very nice breakdown of this great song. After seeing this video, I am now curious as to what you would say about the Dreamcatcher song, "Deja Vu". It would be great if you decided to give Dreamcatcher a go, as they are a unique sound among K-pop girl groups, being more Rock-oriented. "Deja Vu" is less heavy sounding than their earlier stuff, but still different than the usual K-pop.

Do you guys think this kind of song and it's huge (and quite unexpected i dare say) success might bring a fresh air into k-pop?
@AZODi4 жыл бұрын
It is a good and innovative song no doubt! No idea about it changing the air in Kpop as we don’t decide, the internet / market decides right! Interesting thought tho!!

Great review as always! It’s just such a shame that the MV song is different from the Spotify and iTunes versions :( the bass isn’t as prominent and the strings are cut (both my favourite parts of the MV version)
@AZODi4 жыл бұрын
kylepop thanks Kyle glad you enjoyed the video!! Yeah I heard about that, the mix is different right? Some elements missing?? Never heard that happening before, a MV mix separate to an Audio mix!!
@kylepop43714 жыл бұрын
AZODi I know right? It’s really strange... normally I’d think it’s pretty cool but in this case the MV mix is far superior 😩 which is a shame!
