The old KITT(Knight Industries Two Thousand) while not quite the omniHacker as the Three Thousand, it at least didn't break unless you either had a Fully loaded Semi(Coated in the same Molecule Bonded Shell(MBS for short), aka Goliath) smash into it or disabled the MBS. This new model traded durability for 'wiz-Bang' morphing and limited if not useless weapons(look to the vid showing the 3000's gatling gun(only 7 secs of firepower(too fast a fire rate?)). To be fair Most aircraft only have around that for the built in guns the F-15E carries around 500 rounds with a gun that fires 6,000 rounds per minute or about 5 seconds of firing time. so if Anything he is greater capacity then a modern jet fighter.

I think the Knight Rider series should have introduced The Ex or Former Knight Industries Two Thousand also known as KITT to the modern Knight Industries Two Thousand with the Same Name, KITT and the former KITT could be a backup in case the new one and The New Michael Knight are in trouble or serious sticky situation but nevertheless I still loved the Knight Rider series both the Old and the 2008 Knight Rider
