Kraanlei, Ghent, Belgium - A Marvelous Treasure in the Heart of the City

The Kraanlei is a street and Quay in the heart of the medieval city of Ghent, Belgium.
It was named after the wooden crane that once stood here from the 16th century onwards.
The sight of the medieval building standing at the banks of the Leie River is pretty astonishing.
The "Dulle Griet" canon resides on the opposite bank near the Vrijdagmarkt, one of the most beautiful squares in the city.
