Finally a comprehensive presentation of this instrument which shows a big potential, I hope we'll see demos of more sounds, the ones I heard so far sounded outdated and less impressive than Montage for example.
@truthmanifestingtruth4 жыл бұрын
It’s the sound shaping and editing capabilities along with user interface at the price point that gives this board an edge. Montage and Kronos has the better sounding presets, but the PC4 is enough for someone to develop their own current and professional sounds.

Great demonstration of my new keyboard!! How about advanced tutorial Part 2 show the sequencer and the arpeggiator also out puts A & B how do you use them?

Since this video is titled as being an advanced tutorial,I was expecting this segment to touch on the inner working of the song sequencer.I loved my old & former PC3LE6....but due to the terribly small display screen,trying to record song was very frustrating.That being said,how is the workflow on this particular model??

Thank you for the demonstration .The editing " modular" aspects of the instrument really appeal .I can assume that the instrument would articulate individual strings .I use Native Instruments session strings 2 and would like hardware to be able to do similar .Specifically the articulation of strings in a sequence .Would this articulate strings well ? Viola ,Double Bass ,Cello ,Violin ? I like that the presets can be saved to a thumb drive .

Nice tutorial. I’m a blind song writer, so wondering if it’s accessible to blind people if you hook it up to a computer. Would have enjoyed hearing th flute or saxophone, since I play the sax. Lol! Probably too much money for a starving musician, though. A blind one!

What are the main differences in a Forte and a PC4?
@Screaming-Trees4 жыл бұрын
kurzweil.com/pc4/ - scroll down to the FAQ section. You'll see the Product Comparisons sub-heading and under that a Feature Comparison Chart (just click the plus sign to expand). That should give you a comparison across all of the range. Some notable differences are: Forte is metal and has the same keybed as the PC3K (Fatar TP40L). PC4 is plastic and has a Medelli keyboard I think. The PC4 has 256 notes of polyphony the Forte has 128 (that's a pretty big difference). The PC4 has 4096 user patch slots whereas the Forte has 3072. PC4 comes with 1000 or so factory programs the Forte has about 320 or so. The PC4 has 2Gb of user sample memory the Forte has 3.3 I think. PC4 has knobs above the sliders. Knobs that you can use in a Midi controller context (in addition to the sliders obviously). The weight obviously. The Forte must be around 25kg. I think the PC4 is 12 or 13. The Forte is considered the flagship but obviously the PC4 outdoes it on some features (256 vs 128 polyphony for example and others).

Here: kzbin.infovideos Check out Vortex part 1 and 2. Pulse All of Them as well as Pulse and Pulse 2. All 3 parts of the "mooseattack" series is a must too. Then move on to Electro and Pulse for Forte etc. Actually just check them all out because they're all great. This just covers VAST thought. There isn't much 3rd party content for the DX7 FM engine at the moment but there are 300k plus DX7 sounds already out there so that can get you started. You really do have to dig into VAST and roll your own. Deciding on the best methodology and then figuring out VAST to implement that is challenging but doable and ultimately rewarding. I think of all the workstations Kurzweil has the best sound. It always has. For me at least. Even just using the low-fi sample content will give you great results but you have to get your VAST chops in order. Good luck.

Yeah, but at what cost? I'd much rather have all those nice physical controllers like the knobs and faders and switches. Yamaha MODX has less than half of the PC4's controllers and the Korg Krome has almost none at all. And for that you get a touch screen that doesn't work as good as the screen on basically any tablet or smartphone anyway.

I'm a Kurzweil user for 25 years, and their interfaces have never let me down. They do a lot to ease the player, display an indication for every controller movement in real time, they are rock solid. for the player's convenience, the allow for safety menus (such as those that eliminate transposing mistakes in performance scenario) the orchestral sounds are beyond compare. I am sure that the knob spinning noises will be eliminated in the next OS.

@@shai-sinai-vilozny I humbly think this guy's an hater...just doesn't make sense what he says. I already read him critizising the Forte OS 4.0 announcing video stating something weird and not true according to my experience. Besides, he states the keybed is very good...which is actually in contrast with the fact that, buy Kurzweil admission, the keybed is mid quality (Fatar is higher quality), in order to contain both the price and the cost. I've been Kurzweil owner for 15 years, but I also own other stuff from Korg and Roland. Nothing is perfect like everything, but the flaws this guys is bringing up really...how in the world?

much nicer than the Forte..but overall nothing thus far surpasses the Korg Kronos...audio recording, sequencing, 9 synth engines, features, effects..etc..although its keybed is clunky, not good.

The sound is the most important thing to buy a synth for me.
@St_Modler5 жыл бұрын
The Kronos might have 9 synth engines... but on a Kurzweil (PC3-series, Forte and PC4) you can basically design your own synth engines ;-) The Kronos is also an extremely nice keyboard though, and it was an important game-changer as it really shook up a pretty stale market of workstations back then.
@miguelrejas50345 жыл бұрын
9 old engines.. they put together all of their "old achieves" in one box. But the key bed? The after touch? The gradual sensitive? Does it sport graded keys? Dude, if Korg cannot manage to improve those basical features, in a premium rank model for the money you paid, I'd certainly pass w/the Kronos. I'd prefer the Forte or Montage by far.

The PC4 is not meant to succeed the Forte -- it's made to succeed the PC3K and PC3A. Compared to those it doubles the polyphony, doubles the number of effects blocks, adds DX7 FM, and increases pedal inputs, in a lighter weight and for a similar (lower?) price.
@dajie31975 жыл бұрын

@thedarkestrainbow4 жыл бұрын
Snupps Synth channel Forte def bests it in the build quality and the sample size department. Oh and also the price department. The PC4 does have some advantages over the Forte. It really comes down to your needs I’d think. If you really need that extra fidelity that the larger samples offer and prefer a more solid chassis then maybe the Forte is better. But if you don’t mind the reduced sample set, still think it sounds good, want a light weight board with more control options then maybe PC4
