I would rather take a zero on a vault than risk getting paralyzed or dying by not popping off the vault correctly. She probably thought she would get another attempt. I don't blame Kramarenko, she had so much momentum running that she probably couldn't stop and why should she risk her life if she couldn't start the vault properly?

I wish they would go back to the everyone on your team goes and you drop the lowest score...plus you got to see everyone and the All Around was more fun when you never knew who was going to go until the final day....I miss those days.

It's extremely hard to find 4 strong all-arounders for one team nowadays. I mean, USA can, but even Russia and China would struggle. And the rest of the world even more.

At .45s a pissed off Zamo pushes her teammate.

No-no, she didn't push. In Russia it's like "it's okay-it's okay" hahah. Kinda supportive.

Perhaps you are right, but every gymnast knows this rule. It's just like getting an automatic zero if you go before the green light. That's what happened to Pavlova in vault finals. It may not seem fair, but you have to know better at this level. I'm thinking that maybe she didn't stop soon enough and didn't have time to go run to the side. Otherwise, I can't imagine why she did that, other than a complete lapse in concentration. How devastating to lose like that.

This is old and everything, but I hate how everyone keeps trashing on Kramarenko. Its gymnastics. Things happen. I agree she made a mistake, but really, do you think she was thinking of the rules as she was running down? She made a mistake, but seriously? People don't need to trash her. Especially when they aren't elite atheltes training with that kind of pressure. I can't do a level 1 vault with no pressure. Let alone and elite one at Worlds. Get off her back.

It’s also a matter of trying to stop and control your direction- when running full tilt down the runway. That’s very hard to do.

That was a way of learning rules for Russia. In 2007 that happened, in 2008 Pavlova got a zero on vault cause she started before green light, and in 2010 Aliya was late on her inquiry, so it's wasn't accepted.
@saragrant9749
@saragrant9749 2 жыл бұрын
Aliya wasn’t late on her inquiry, it was just rejected because it was an effort in futility. Her vault was so obscenely obviously piled it was laughable- so the judges rejected the inquiry to avoid wasting unnecessary time.

Zamo cried because she knew that her vault wouldn't count for anything, since Kramarenko fucked everything up.

"(...) China and United States in final rotation on the floor, Russia and Romenia will battling for what is likely the bronze and then Italy, Brazil, France and Great Britain... oh no!" I think hilarious how Tim is saying the way the competition will end, as he prepotently always does, and Ekaterina just fails, changing all his articulation.

I suppose you could argue that point but is it really that hard to just run past the table? I haven't heard of any other gymnast doing the same thing, I've just seen them run past if they need a re-do.

@GlobalGal1976 she COULD have been paralyzed. unlikely but she could have been, had she decided to do her vault she most likely would not have had enough momentum (it was clear her step was off) to get her vault around, possibly causing paralysis or death.

it's not a ridiculous rule. yours is ridiculous. it's not difficult to not touch the board. what counts as "attempting" anyway? if the gymnast's hands slip and cannot go over the table, does that count as attempting?

once she stepped on the blue mat just in front of the springboard she didn't have THAT much momentum to divert her last jump and go to either side I think but I have never been in the same situation and can only hope I would not touch the apparatus and therefore ruin the chance of going again...such a shame when things like this happens...unfortunate

I also wanted to say that this is a ridiculous rule. Maybe that is to prevent that if a gymnast attempts the vault and falls, she can't say, "My vault didn't count. I need to do it over." The rule should be, "If you touch the vault but don't attempt the vault, then you get another chance to vault."
@intldawn
@intldawn 15 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but she only started bailing on the vault when she was a step or two before the board. You can see that she started to hurdle and then balked, so all momentum she had would have been going forward at that point. It would have been hard--and perhaps dangerous--to stop dead in her tracks, but she still looked like she had a bit of room to run to the side. IDK. Just an opinion.

@intldawn True, that's how it looked but everything happens so fast in this event, the run only lasts for some seconds. I guess it all happened so fast that she didn't realise her run wasn't enough until it was too late. I'm sure she was aware of the rule but I guess her mind froze at the moment.

it looks like she could of stopped or jumped to the side before touching the table. poor thing though maybe she just blanked before she was about to start

Regardless of if she didn’t take a zero they wouldn’t have even medaled anyway right? Still maybe higher than 8th but they were quite low in terms of scores compared to other teams here
