This does not correspond to a real knife attack. After all, the attacker with the knife would stab you to death on the street and certainly wouldn't wait for you to block his arm. I recommend thinking before teaching your students how to be stabbed with a knife by an unrealistic defense

VEDI IL PROBLEMA è CHE L'AGGRESSORE DOPO AVERTI COLPITO TENDE ISTINTIVAMENTE A RIPORTARE IL COLTELLO VERSO IL PROPRIO CORPO PER SFERRARE UN'ALTRA COLTELLATA, QUINDI O RIESCI A BLOCCARLO PRATICAMENTE NELLO STESSO MOMENTO IN CUI TI COLPISCE NON LASCIANDOGLI IL TEMPO DI RITIRARE LA LAMA O è MEGLIO CHE LO COLPISCI NEGLI OCCHI E SCAPPI VIA. PS: LA MIGLIOR TECNICA PER COMBATTERE CONTRO UNO STRONZO ARMATO DI COLTELLO è NON COMBATTERE CONTRO DI ESSO, CERCA QUALCOSA CHE POSSA INTERFACCIARSI TRA TE E IL SUO COLTELLO, UN MANGANELLO, UN BASTONE, UNA SEDIA, QUALSIASI COSA RIGIDA E LUNGA CHE TI CAPITI SOTTO MANO O TROVI PER STRADA. IL COLTELLO è L'ARMA PIù POTENTE PER IL CORPO A CORPO RAVVICINATO MA HA UNA VULNERABILITà E CIOè LA LA SUA LUNGHEZZA, IL COLTELLO NON SI ESTENDE PIù DI TANTO DAL BRACCIO DELL'AGGRESSORE PERCIò SE TROVI UN ARMA PIù LUNGA DI ESSO PUOI ARRETRARE E COLPIRLO SENZA CHE LUI POSSA FARE NIENTE, QUESTO è IL METODO MIGLIORE PER FERMARE UN ACCOLTELLATORE ARRETRARE E COLPIRE DALLA DISTANZA CON UN QUALSIASI OGGETTO, ANCHE COLPIRE IL SUO BRACCIO GLI FARà MALE.

B1oodAngel SI A MENO CHE NON BLOCCHI IL BRACCIO DELL'AGGRESSORE NELLO STESSO MOMENTO IN CUI TI COLPISCE, IL CHE è MOLTO DIFFICILE VISTA L'ADRENALINA E L'ANSIA IN CIRCOLAZIONE.

I'm not sure if he mentioned this or not but control of the knife hand and disarming is critical in the first moments or the attacker can do very violent counter strikes. Very important to block and grab the arm in a very fast and swift motion before counter strikes happen.

Great video, but i have a couple of notes i'd like you to comment: 1) The attacker's hand recoils back to make another stab after successful block. Why not stop it right there - bend your defending hand's wrist in a hook (hope i am understood) and catching attacker's arm using his recoil? You will control his knife arm this way and easily open him up for devastating counterattack. Also you won't let him slide down your arm and make an unpredictable stab. 2) It would be great if you would mention lowering your upper torso a bit while blocking. Any increase of vital distance might give a few inches which can save your life.

For the first technique: the first steps are good, but when you’ve blocked his arm, he could possibly move the arm back and attack again ? So I’ve learnt that you have to grab his arm and close your thumb around the other side… cause probably he’s gettin to your left and your punch misses. And then yeah… know what i mean ?

I have to say I disagree. The first thing the victim should do is move to the outside of the arm wielding the knife. Staying on the inside greatly increases the risk of serious injury. Move to the outside and force the attacker to slash "backhanded." This is far more awkward for him, and gives you a fighting chance to attack the knife wielding arm, preferably breaking his elbow.
@DianosAbael

every weapon in every stance has a proper angle of attack. A knife in very close range (grappling to give you the idea) is the second "best" situation you can face it.. trying to stay out of reach is very difficult and give the agressor full thrust and access to your vital areas.

There is one point he didn't point out, or maybe he doesn't even know. If you turn the palm of the hand you're blocking the knife with slight upwards you will be able to generate more force than if you were to block it the way he shows you in the video. By this I mean to turn your palm so that it is facing in front of you instead of the floor. It's like a push up, you don't do it with your pinky, you do it with your palm. If you're still lost just imagine the attacker's hand is the floor and you're trying to push away from it, because if the attacker is stronger than you and you blocked your hand the way he teaches you in the video, your forearm will collapse and the blade will make contact with your body.

Knife defense is the most difficult to attempt. You're likely to get cut. It's best to practice awareness, avoidance, and escape. Baring that, try to pick up anything expedient, like even a chair. If you've ever watched the 1992 prison movie, "American Me", that kind of sudden, close-in, ambush, machine-gun like stabbing attack is impossible to defend against. Avoiding it is the best defense.
@wolverine2551

Best defense when you get attacked with a knife, RUN, create obstacles, throw stuff, use your shirt, hoodie, whatever to wrap it around your arms and legs but most importantly, make sure it never happens, be observant, watch the world around you, if you get surprised make sure to create space between you and attacker. Its lot easier to say, I know. I have never been attacked, thank God, I am just using common sense here.

Nice dance they practiced. Trying to fight of an attacker will get you hospitalized or worse. If the attacker wants your money hand it over, in all other situations RUN.

What if he holds the knife differently and aims straight for the gut? Don't encourage people trying to engage in a fight when things can change too fast to be judged adequately for a non-trained people. Just run, only do this will back to wall situations

Krav maga is not about being robbed or having the opportunity to run. Its a last resort. against terror attacks for example. People in Israel are being attacked by palestinians with knives many times and krav maga saves many lives.

@@tryme8066 Palestininians are living the good life, everyone knows that. Or wait, maybe it's just Israel's point of view i might have mixed that up. Still, dude, instead of trying to give me this speech just answer the fucking question what one has to do when the attacker goes straight for the guts? This video is made like some barbie girl could take on a knife fight which is effin dangerous which i guess you could know.

@@notgonnagetmydata8221 its a bit more difficult bu basicly you do the same hand motion downwards and bounce back with your legs a little to keep your mass center as far as possible from the knife. You throw punches with your second hand to the face or back of the head until you gain control. You should also know that Krav Maga states that theres a big chance youll get stabbed. The question is how many times and if youll be able to survive due to your action. Its a defence teq against murder attampt.

Most of people wont be that expirienced,so i think as soon as you block and get one punch to the neck or heart,you pretty much can grab the knife and bring your self in a safe position.

Tyler Lalonde I call this "DoJo Techniques" because its nice in the Dojo and worthless in real. To stop a knife like that(with a moveless block) is a guarantee for to take a big cut in the arm. In Fact an "Ice-Pick" is not striked like a baton/stick. Its a bow motion .

@drhkleinert3245
@drhkleinert3245 9 жыл бұрын
Sorry, not native english speaking...i mean a bow, a curve, not straight. In this case a curve from above downwarts and the sharp side of the knife would cut the blocking arm. A stick stands still after blocking, a knife moves on. With a straight block. Thats why so many styles teach round motions, not "Karate" Block style.

One thing I don’t like about KZbin Krav Maga training videos is this: the knife arm doesn’t automatically stop when you make your defense take an empty water bottle (via Master Italy Gil) and go at about 75% percent speed and you will see what happens. This is called the 360 defense you have to take your blocking arm when you do this defense and intercept the knife arm before he gets halfway thru the swing and your arm and body need to be in the block and push his arm back not only does this affect his swing but it always puts his balance out of whack watch at 2:01 how the defenders arm collapse’s if his training partner kept moving his attack he would have been cut

haha, this is exactly the same technique as in HEMA! More kneeing the groin though P.S. Against the multiple stabs, if the attacker knows what he's doing, won't he grab or push you with his left arm (like at 3:50) to stop you coming forward? Of course, being counterable doesn't mean it's not worth doing.

i think whats best is to always remember basic ideas. there are things that work and things that will get you killed. im no expert but ive learned that the best approach is to find a good sparring partner and simulate the scenario in full speed and full contact. then and only then you start to learn what works and doesnt
@jacobharris8240
@jacobharris8240 7 жыл бұрын
and of course to simulate it DO NOT have steps. simply have your sparring partner swing at you as fast as they can in any and all directions.
@jacobharris8240

the idea should be catch and control the weapon as soon as possable by breaking distance. once youve done this attack the groin, face, dont stop, throw the opponent off balance all the while keeping the weapon under control. it wont look perfect and it wont be the same every time

from 2:11 when he catches his wrist. from my own experience if you can do this against an attacker youre very very very very good. i personally wouldnt try that. but just prior when he blocks and immediatly attacks the face this is more believable. especially if you have a knife as well obviously. in Krav Maga the defence and counter attack can and often times should seem indistinguishable

Don't forget in a fight they have two hands not just one. Focusing and getting the knife from one hand, by that time he has hit you with the other hand like 3 times. To block like that you must have a strong fore arm and be really fast, hardly anyone can do this without getting stabbed in a real situation!

AKUMA538 If someone comes straight at you like that it isn't all that hard to do, especially if they aren't trained with a knife. And if you hit them in the face right as you block their attack there's no way they're going to smacking you up lol they would probably be in shock unless you hardly tap them.

I have used this in training but also do an outside defence..turn to side and use their momentum to sweep arm down past their body slicing as it goes. As a women if it is a big guy I don't want to try and stop arm in case I can't. Men r stronger.

The best thing to do if you can't run is to kick .. throwing a kick has more range than your hands and will do two good things for you : it will stop his momentum and protect you (beacause he cannot reach) and it will hurt him. I suggest doing this while protecting your face with your hands or positioning your body sideways while kicking to get out of the line of the knife. If there are many agressors try to hit and run otherwise stop the aggresor from knifing you more. Again everything depends on your situation just make sure not to underestimate the power of surprise.

agree if in the situation u can't flee (in elevator, car or other smal spaces) otherwise I suggest to keep the legs stable on the ground cause u need stability. Try to imagine sword and knife figters of past eras: 4000 years of blades history and they almost never used to use legs to strike..

All the experts say the same thing: if you can't or don't try running away, you will get cut, stabbed and maybe killed. Almost impossible to avoid. (one trainer gave a little kid a magic marker instead of a knife and told him to attack him. The trainer ended up with ink on him in multiple spots).
