Krav Maga can be effective, only if there is real live, non-scripted, sparring involved. If you are not getting punched in the face and/ or hitting back against a resisting opponent than it is not effective training.

km is basically a sick Savage combo in sucker punch motion to a guy that would be there taking it and not doing much. That's why I don't like it that much, cause it only allows you to be the first striking and to be the agresor, is not meant to counter punch of handle a guy that can wrestle you out.

@@richardfranek4335 Every martial artist trying to master every martial art you can think of with the exception of Krav Maga. That's who. Including UFC fighters. You can't poke someone in the eye and kick them in the nuts. Especially not during sparring.

@@Diogenes69Sinope most people train so that they can be more powerful in real-life fighting situations, if then someone decides to make a game or sport out of it, that's deviating from the point of given martial arts. If you train for scripted or non-real life situations, then your training loses much effectivity. I guess it depends on the practicality of your mind, but you can't say the comment has any valid point because Krav Maga doesn't care about the game part. Krav Maga wasn´t designed for streetfighting, it was designed for Army Self Defense and Killing. The problem is, that most KM Organisations don´t teach the military style ( which is not wrong because in a streetfight you don´t wanna kill somebody just because of your trained reactions ). Actually there are two Krav Maga Styles you can learn in Israel. The "civilian self defense" and the "real" Krav Maga Military Style.

I'd love if any YT video showed how KM training actually looks like. This is how KM looks like in clubs that just want to sell as many tickets for self defense seminars where there is a bunch of guys who would love to do MMA but they are afraid to get hit. 50% of any respectable KM training is punching and takedowns, 30% is reaction training: which is actually kicking the shit out your club members either as an assailant or as one defending in relatively safe environment (assailants wearing blue suits, and having padded sticks or thick gloves and you hitting them as hard as you can without falling or getting trapped in the corner) and than when you are pretty exhausted 20% of technical moves. So please show how the training looks this is not much really. It is normal for KM training to get out with bruises.

What pisses me off is that for many people, who either train or are MMA, they tend to look down on anything else. "Oh, so you Box, eh... I`d take you to the ground...", "oh, so you train Judo- i`d kick you to the face...", "oh, so you train Krav Maga? So you kick balls and gouge eyes all day long, no?". it`s like talking with those katana retards from few years back, when there was no good HEMA itructors on youtube, or true metalworkers didn`t yet started to show off proper made armor or swords, that easily rival Japanese ones- as long as there was nobody to shove evidence to their faces- it was almost like religion for them... So i sparred with friend who trains MMA- he mounted me, i grabbed his groin(not really strongly, just pointed i can do it). He went for my legs, i leaned on him, forcing him to kneel, "kneed" him to the face, and pretended to hammerfist back of his head. "It is not allowed"! In octagon? Yes. On the street- i will do whatever i can to fuck you up. At once he changed his attitude toward Krav Maga- now we just compare specyfic techniques for specyfic situations, hoping to learn from one another. Wish more MMA people were like that
@heretyk_13376 жыл бұрын
Fred Duwe- read my mcomment one more time- first sentence... I got SAME problem with MMA people, who get religious, whenever you point out that it is a user that counts, not a tool(style in this case)
@heretyk_13376 жыл бұрын
Fred Duwe- and i have "met" MMA people- both in our flesh world, and on the web, going on and about how their style is the "bestest" thing ever for any type of situation- be it a ring or self defense. And i point to them- they don`t fight on wet concrete, asphalt, or ice where slipping while high kicking, or landing on our back may render us useless and out of breath, hence different falling techique. They don`t fight in heavy winter clothing. They have no idea how it is, how draning and constricting it can be. They don`t train fighitng mulitple opponents- and that is why we train; not long rolling on the ground, looking for balaha, but by getting rid of the guy as soon as possible, and getting up, before his 3 pals decide it is time to take us to boots, level hard.They don`t train gun defense, or using tools in the fight- like knife or bottle. They don`t train simple mental tricks, like asking questions, to get attacke busy, or even stuff like stabbing guy with his own knife, while screaming "drop it!", because people around may see that one preson attack the other, and decide to help the wrong guy... They don`t get when i tell them about muslce memory, when i point that in the fight- and i mean proper fight, not a duel, where i know at least few minutes before, that i am going to be dealing with pain amd stress in a moment, and that there will be no judge to separate us, when one guy has enough. I mean proper fight- fight, that one was surprised by- people then tend to do stuff they nailed into their muscle memory. Fighting dirty is fine and dandy- when you remember that you can do that- but what if you talk to the girl, and suddenly some guy grabs you by the shirt and launches a punch? This isn`t a duel, a ring, or even mano a mano. You have professional boxers and MMA fighters, when they loose their shit during that talkdowns before the fight... Any of them uses that pretty foot work, powerful punches, or complicated grappling methods they display in a ring? Nope. Most of them goes to the ground, like a two drunken idiots, tugging and pulling by the shirts It is not the question what is better- each tool is fixed to do it`s job. You can drive a screw with a file`s blade, but why bother when you have screwdriver at hand? MMA is very specialized style for dueling in specyfic situation- octagon. There are no cars, or walls to bump one`s head Krav Maga is not for the ring- i`d even say that going on the ring would get us killed, or at least badly mauled- as we literally have to give half of our tools away. MMA has the same problems- look at MMA sportsmen fighting specialized styles, like judo or boxing on their terms... As soon as you add whole arsenal, both judo and boxing user get nervous Our mentality is surviving, not fighting. If i`d pull a knife out of my pocket, or smash a chair into someones face in octagon, and then fucking ran away- would that be what watching people want to see? If i`d head butt the guy trying to display some pretty punch, bit him in the neck, while he tries to take me down, or just walked up to the guy, just before the fight put forward my hand, saying "do i know you?" to make guy think of an answer for a split second, so i can kick his nust or smash my elbow into his face- would that be considered a fight??? I never considered Krav Maga to be the "bestest thing evah" but it has it`s uses, and if it didn`t work- they wouldn`t teach it to special forces. What i want is for people to see it honestly, for what it is, instead of laughing at it because "dere ain`t no Krav Maga fights in the ring" or some shit like that Not to mention- Krav Maga in it`s basic core IS a MMA- it`s creator Imi Lichtenfeld was boxer and wrestler- that is a definition of mixed martial artist :) I have gifted trainers- both trained different styles- one has boxing and Muai Thai after him, other some kind of grappling style- and it shows in their fighting methods, in solutions they pick, despite they both teach Krav Maga I get defensive, because i heard too many times "yeah, i`d fuck you up", or "so you just kick balls and gouge eyes all day, no?"- from people, who just want their favourite thing to win, and that is it

@musashidanmcgrath6 жыл бұрын
The problem starts when you think like this. The 'system' in a real and dangerous street situation is whatever works. The main principle in KM is to escape safely from the situation. How you do this is always going to have endless variables. Even in this choking example, nobody except maybe a mummy in an old horror film is going to attack like this. It's unrealistic, but the principles of striking the face with the open palm, controlling the centre of gravity, gouging the eyes, and trapping the foot are all valid concepts to understand and apply for any amount of real situations.

I do not like to let opponent have his hands on my neck for any length of time, so in my book this is the first thing to be addressed. And the easiest and fastest way is: [tense your neck muscles], shrug, and rotate your upper torso, this throws off hands immediately. After that you can do other things. I like Krav Maga many other things, but for this choke thing I prefer to do what I described above.

How is trying to grab the guys face going to work if your opponent has a longer reach than you? also how is this technique superior to simply kicking the guy in the groin or a straight punch to the solar plexus, or even neck? Also nobody even remotely trained in anything would be dumb enough to extend both arms and standing square to his opponent.
@drhkleinert32456 жыл бұрын
Wrong. When you say "Nobody do this or that" you can go to Las Vegas as a Mind Reader and Wizard. A real opponent will do what he want to do. Its right that nobody will straighten his arms while choking but thats because its an unnormal position where no pressure can be given. And a serious chok gives you time under one second and what you say (kick to the groin, Plexus, neck) shows me that you never was in that situation or trained that serious way. On soft training many fancy things will work, but i can tell you while a serious choking at the throat you forget your moves, all will fade to black after one second.
@domzbu6 жыл бұрын
Maybe all of those could work depending on the situ, and pretty much every one of those will also be part of a good krav class. Most of krav is improvisation to the circumstance, and is flexible. You make the choice. Krav gives you more options and helps you to think outside the box a bit more if you're otherwise used to training a lot of sport rules.
@drhkleinert32456 жыл бұрын
In my opinion nearly every style teach only techniques for to learn (imitate) and not variations. I try to teach with the different situations (what will you change on your move if the attacker moves that way so the first move wont work?) but of course that way you can teach 2 hrs by only one situations and its not practicable for exams or belt programs. My former teacher calls that Plan B, C, D...first Plan is Plan A but when it not work use Plan B.
@alik59726 жыл бұрын
If you learn a martial arts that says do X under that situation and do Y if your attacker is like Z. You simply won’t be able to remember it. But if your martial arts teaches you how to kick or punch you will successfully do so. If a person tries to front chokes me I will simply punch them in the face or front kick them away. It is that simple

Its a nice and helpful move, but: In too many styles they teach bxshit moves (try to grab the hands, try to push the arms down etc). And they ALLWAYS just only lay the hands on the throat/neck without any pressure so the defender learns that he has much time for useless mambojambo. When there is a serious choke (and you dont have the throat and neck like a Bodybuilder) you have less than one second for to escape. I had two black belts as students and ask them about a move against a choke, the shows what they have learned (one TKD, one Kung Fu) and after that i say "OK, nice. And now once more." Than i choked them real and after one or two seconds they lay on their knees and were really scared. They wasted their times with fancy but useless techniques and never knows what a serious attack is, so i told them "THAT is a choke and THAT is the maximum time you have." There is no grab the Hand, take a lock etc. Short, simple, hard and REALLY fast. Thats the answer.

You don't always want to go high-damage. You're not always covered legally as well. Plus if it's someone who knows where you live (say an unruly neighbor) - if you punched him you'd humiliate him, and he might come back with friends or with a weapon. But if you only submitted him with a joint lock, somehow it wouldn't feel to him nearly as humiliating and he' d be less likely to get back at you.
@arnolis018 жыл бұрын
Ok I half agree. Because in my hometown if the opponent can survive, someday he will take revenge by attack from behind wherever we go.
@MisterBlueSky10008 жыл бұрын
That would be true if you humiliated him too much. If you know enough grappling, you have an option of how far to go with the hurt and inevitable humiliation you put on an attacker. If you know only striking, you have to hurt him more. I think you'd agree that being put in a standing arm-lock while being talked to respectfully - is significantly less humiliating than being knocked out by a punch. If you live with such people who would look for revenge and could not be reasoned with - it might be a good time to move man.

In real situation, you must move in split second speed punch or kick as an oppening, this such technique will not work.
@damstevieray7 жыл бұрын
The problem is that it's only work with someone who doesn't move man vs a stronger person if you are close he will catch you and throw you like a pilow and if you try to hurt his eyes man he can move his head even if you hurt him bad. Man think about that you always work motionless person when people is moving it's not the same i think.

I've been training in Krav Maga for over two years and other than when I'm learning how to do a technique, I've never trained with someone who isn't moving. I don't know where the Krav haters get this stuff. Another good one is that there is no sparring in Krav Maga. Lol. Damn, I must not be training in Krav after all 😂

@PeterK19848 жыл бұрын
Half of that was BS. And that comes from somebody who did Krav Maga. For starters, blood chokes are more effective than air chokes. Blood chokes knock you out in less than 20 seconds, air chokes can take up to 2 minutes (Because you can hold your breath for a while before you pass out but cutting the blood flow to the brain is a really quick thing). Second, if you use a balance breaker (like he did) you have to move off site of your target and circle him down. The (almost completely) frontal move we saw here would allow your opponent to turn his choke into a grip of your lapel, shirt of back of the neck and pull you down with him. This was just bad.
@YiffMonsterGaming8 жыл бұрын
I dont know what Krav you do but you need to work with people who are a bit more physical with you and can actually resemble a proper attacker heres why... Blood chokes take 20 seconds? You clearly have never had a properly applied blood choke more like 3-10 depending on what your state is before its applied. However in a frontal choke its very hard to actually apply a proper blood choke hence why air chokes are more effective here. Get someone from behind with a guillotine and they are gone within a few seconds. Air chokes generate a sense of immediate urgency and panic but are more easily applied in this position. most people cant hold their breath for 2 minutes underwater and thats with divers reflex you pass out quickly because you are being attacked so your heart rate spikes quickly using up oxygen. The defence isn't one that the School i train under (KMG) uses, i'm not a fan as it doesnt deal with the problem (choke) directly. I also think standing on a foot and trapping it is too difficult so i agree with you on that. We tend to use a2 handed pluck at the wrists, chest out pulling back with a simultaneous kick to groin. Or the one handed explosive pluck other hand pushes at chest fingers into throat.

Mix MMA with Kali and you have Krav Maga, because Krav Maga is MMA is with weapons training such as stick ,gun,knife defense etc., which is exactly what Kali teaches.

@ישעיהובן-תורה4 жыл бұрын
@@aliasalias9768 it really depends on your preference. Krav Maga is definitely well beyond the more known techniques which you mentioned. There is also in class training learning about the anatomy of a fight and body parts to target etc. In my opinion, I agree with Jocko Willink when he said that you should always have the basic boxing techniques coupled with Jujitsu or BJJ; afterwards Krav Maga is good for fending off multiple attackers etc. If you learn Krav Maga from a recognized instructor, you should do good in learning the more advanced techniques as well. Just keep in mind that Krav Maga was developed for the IDF. So it focuses on delivering the strongest possible blow in the shortest amount of time to end the fight even before it begins.

In my 10 years training I have never seen any MMA fighter or BJJ guy strangle someone like that... I don't think we will any get a good video surrounding the question of which works better because i can never find a video that isnt bias towards krav maga. In my opinion ( remember kids everyone has got one) if it is not used in mixed martial arts, then it's not effective enough. The day a krav maga fighter wins a ufc title i'm sold. Just don't see it happening sorry...

"mixed martial arts" is sport you was training it for 10 years and you dont know its just a sport just like chess? You can't poke your oponent eye in chess and you can't do it in MMA, but its fine in any real marial art that wasnt weakened by idea :lets make sport out of it"!

It's a good thing this dude put this on KZbin for free, because I wouldn't buy it for a dollar. Look at the "palm strike" at 2:14 or so. Notice that neither one of them is in any kind of athletic or fighting stance. I didn't watch the rest of the video, and I'm not going to. Obviously this guy is just here to sell overpriced T-shirts.

OMG whyyy every single video with KMG 'experts' have to say how it was made by an Israeli instructor and it's a military blahbkah. So are SEVERAL other techniques, styles, systems!
@davidalcala6486 жыл бұрын
this is bs , and i m a krv maga instructor, so many wrong things on this video, is funny how people trust more on instructors that are strong, this guys physice is just to hide the lack of technique, 1 nobody choke square up and arms extended 2 you cannot do any technique while your attackers hands are still on your neck, rule 1 is to remove the choke 3 i never saw the technique performed with full power, in krav maga all techniques need to be tested full power, if they don t work 100 percent, then don t use them. in my school, i made up a lot of techniques, then i test them, half of them don t work, the other half are really effective, good thing that i know in my gym and not when i m fighting out. anyay i ould love to see this technique done 100 power, then i ll say if it work or not

I trained (training) combat sports and Krav Maga (Krav Maga Global / Emil Yalinov) My conclusion: For street fights > Boxing - as simple as that MMA will also work of course. Krav Maga? I don´t think so. I´m an average boxer and I dominated my instructor in sparring and he is a Level 5 graduate. You don´t learn to fight like a Boxer, MMA fighter, Wrestler etc. Combat sports people have better timing, reach, distance, power, mindset. Krav Maga doesn´t turn the average Joe into a killing machine, that just nonsense. And as for the knife defense, I utilize my footwork from boxing and try to parry and and if I´m lucky I can create an opportunity to knock the aggressor in the face. But a Krav Maga student has not the best foot work, no proper punching techniques and so on, you name it... Boxing, MMA etc has rules bla bla bla yeah yeah yeah. I sparred in MMA against hooligans, that was what I would call a challenge. Krav Maga sparring? Watered down kickboxing. Krav people always say, in MMA the wear gloves, but at least they 4 oz gloves. In Krav we sparred (always light sparring to protect the yuppie payers I guess) with boxing gloves and shin guards and guess what, no pocking in the eye no kick in the groin allowed...hmmm... As for self defense in general. If you a little girl and Brock Lesnar comes to rape you in a dark alley, he will rape you in a dark alley. Solution: Avoid the dark alley. But I will give Krav Maga credit for mimic the mindset to be prepared in self defense situations and that they empathize the fitness aspect, most of the time they are also open minded about progress.

By definition Krav Maga is a Mixed Martial Art. It mixes techniques of all the major martial arts. Anyone that goes to a Krav gym that's affiliated with KMW gets BJJ training, Muay thai, Boxing, Karate, TKD, etc. It's a Mixed Martial Art. Bas Rutten agrees too and wrote and advised KMW curriculum. I'd still address the choke first. Using your logic of "you might not hurt the guy" if he's bearing down on your airway with a choke and your palm strike to the nose doesn't work? Doesn't take much for that strangle choke to put you out. Address the choke first. The rest I agree with
