lithium reacts with water like that : 2Li + 2H2O-> 2Li(oh) + H2 .Lithium in reaction with water produces hydrogen which reacts with atmospheric oxygen : 2H2 + O2 + ( high temperature that is the result of the previous reaction)-> 2H2O. That reaction is very abrupt and thats what causes the ,,explosion".

Firsttly, maybe the statistics regarding Autopilot safety are a bit on the positive side. Okay. But just look it up, Tesla model S, X and 3 are the safest cars (crash ratings) in the world. www.theverge.com/2018/9/20/17882634/tesla-model-3-nhtsa-five-star-safety-rating www.tesla.com/de_DE/blog/tesla-model-s-achieves-best-safety-rating-any-car-ever-tested drivemag.com/news/how-safe-are-tesla-cars-5-facts-and-myths-explained Oh and one more thing, just because a BMW M3 has higher fatality numbers than a normal sedan does not mean the car is less safe. It shows that different drivers choose different cars and if someone decides to read a magazine while driving on autopilot or does not react even if a warning comes up, he is just acting stupid.
@Z-Ack5 жыл бұрын
Safest car per crash rating? Nope. Try a smart car. Those little fuckers can hit a metal wall going 130mph and the cab still be totally intact like a shell. But no matter what car or what protection is there, unless you can defy physics law of attaction than your stomach would dropkick your tonsils and you would eat your buttcheek at the same time from the sudden change in motion. Would be like 500 g or whatever. But testla. No dice on safest car. Plus the turnaround and milage maintenance are non existant just because of how unsafe they are. They had a recall with their contactors one year and deales refused to work tochange them out like any other recall would. On top of that they deemed it against all warrantees if anybody other than the dealer change them. So those sorry fuckers who spent over 70k on those cars were calling elon asking for rides...

The main thing is use common sense when dealing with charging electric devices, phones, mowers, snow plows, e-bikes, EV vehicles, etc. I always only charge any electric device when I can watch over what it is doing. Only use what cables that come with/recommended for the batteries. And I never over charge any of my devices or EV. When done charging, I unplug the charging cables. I don't leave the device plugged in all the time. I don't do Supercharging on my EV, only home charging via 220 volts. Lithium batteries can be very dangerous if not handled and charged properly. They have warnings in each manual that comes with the device. LOL!!!! Well one thing I learned from this video, never hit a lithium battery with a hammer. Great video, take care.

Yeah but the difference is gas atleast dont self explode as battery do over time. So i rather take my chances with fuel than actual batteries. To make gas burn you have to try more. Like shooting gas tank so that it leaks gas, and put a match on fire and burn the gas line. Like thats basically how it works if you wanted to put a fuel tanked car on fire.

Elemental Lithium is pyrophoric. When you charge the battery, I assume it makes pure Lithium on one plate of the battery. Expose that to air and good-bye. If Lithium touches air or even water, it will release immense amounts of energy. Such batteries also used to give off cyanide gas when burning, but I think they have fixed that feature.
@drkastenbrot2 жыл бұрын
There is no elemental lithium in significant quantities, even under fault conditions. What you are seeing is just an internal short circuit dissipating all the charged energy very quickly, igniting the liquid electrolyte and causing fire. Different chemistries and electrode designs can be more or less severe and some batteries only produce some smoke with no fire at all.
