KRIMH feat. Alexy Khoury - DECAPITATED - United

Decapitated's "Carnival Is Forever" album will turn 10 this year. Its my only album I recorded with them and I felt like it would be nice to revisit one of these songs. I asked my friend and talented guitarist Alexy Khoury from LOKUST if he would be up for a cover.
We choose "United" which is pretty intense for drums and guitar. To be honest we both struggled nailing this song but I think we did it. Its an honest live performance with all its imperfections and feel.

Well Witek and Vogg began to write Carnival Forever.... it's not clear how much but it's very clear you can still hear Witek throughout the album which is all the more unique...... Krimh did killer for writing the rest. Seriously couldn't think of a better person for it....

@@AbbyTheAbinator I think it's fair to say Krimh's natural style was massively influenced by Witek, which makes it even harder to try to pick out what ideas Witek had already demo'd and what Krimh wrote entirely himself. I'm not sure there was a better replacement on earth for Witek than Krimh.

Best track from a mightily underrated album. Best part is how clear the guitar sound is. Carnival is Forever was my point of entry into this band once and for all! I was "lucky" enough to see Decapitated live with the awesome James Stewart drumming and right before them, Krimh was right there on stage with Septicflesh at the Impérial in Québec city. What a treat that was! My friend and I were stoked by Septicflesh' performance. This video is freaking awesome!

@@skeksis1085 I actually thoroughly enjoyed Blood Mantra when it came out in 2014 funnily. I think as an album on its own if you don't judge it by the Vitek era albums, I consider it a a very solid album with some great groovy songs. Personally my favourite of the Post-Vitek Era Decapitated. I will agree that Krimh was by far the best replacement after Vitek's passing! He's an incredibly talented drummer. Maybe he was seeing himself get the Jason Newstead treatment from Vogg and knew it was best to not stick it out. Him and the vocalist Rasta are on good terms, so maybe a return to Decapitated may happen some day. Long enough for Vogg to have grieved, and grown to become a guitarist without his brother on drums, and Krimh to have matured as a musician in his own right too.

Krimh, was there any particular reason (that you would be able to share) you left Decapitated after just one album? I always thought you were the perfect fit for them.

He explains this in one of his videos here. I think he said that they are still good friends, they just didn’t work well together musically.

Krimh wanted to focus more on his own project, at least at the time. But maybe there were differences in terms of music and the direction they were going. Don't really know honestly.

@@Lordovhate But Carnival Is Forever is a great album and his drumming fit Decapitated PERFECTLY. It must have been some kind of personality or cultural clash, because CIF is proof that they worked incredibly well together musically.

@@BlackHowl1 being able to play what someone else wrote is easy (at that level) being able to collectively be creative is another. His style fits better where he is now. He’s capable of anything, but that doesn’t mean that’s what he wants to write or play.
