I mean, throwing something on the table and saying the players are fighting it is a time-honored tradition in D&D. That's how Gygax, Arneson, and company created some of the game's iconic monsters: Throw a plastic dinosaur on the kitchen table and make stats for it.

Best DM Goblin fun, was running a Pathfinder campaign, the party were pretty well established in the main city, going out on adventures when needed, but mostly just hanging out doing their own thing between those. Near the end of the campaign the party Bard built his own theater, constructed and staffed entirely by Goblins (Said bard was not a Goblin, he just really liked the little guys). At one point, had a session where the Bard challenged the party Rouge's thieves guild (because of course the Rogue set up his own thieves guild...) to try and break in as a test for the various defenses his Gobby's had built.

At the mention of Yugi cheating disregarding anime shenanigans on card effects/interactions.... the Millennium Puzzle's special ability was a luck boost; the more desperate a situation Yugi was in the puzzle allowed him to essentially will the card he needed to the top of his deck to remain in the duel for another turn or whatever was needed for any other game he was playing. It wasn't always the 'instant win' card but it would always be a card to keep him in the game.

Goblin monk is actual a pretty decent idea, you can use the goblin abilities to save on ki points. Fury of the small is a one a rest attack, but at max level that's 20 extra points of damage. Perfect for a death punch.

I actually made a goblin monk I named Angy. Let me tell yah, he is by far my most powerful character I have ever played. He's so agile and resiliant, he avoids most attacks and dishes out incredible damage that i've only ever seen on my cleric characters. I made him to be the god of monks in my homebrew world.
