I love how Merg's natural reaction to EarthBound was him being unable to tell what was and wasn't a meme (Like the song "Sanctuary Guardian" at 1:17:58), and just being confused in general, that says a lot about EarthBound itself Section 2 is a great tribute to EarthBound, and seeing an actual blind reaction to what the game's like was entertaining, I'd love to see Merg eventually get into EarthBound/the MOTHER franchise in general, considering how long he's been invested in Undertale

Welp I played earthbound, so I will say everything reference showed. 4:38 In earthbound you don't kill the enemies, instead It is said "the enemy was back to normal, the enemy stopped moving,ect" so nobody dies in the game, the thing for the mushroom is that It stopped moving, so thats why It appears there. 5:08 This guy was so you could give money to him to get hints of where you had to go, because there were so many points in where the game didn't tell you were to go and where VERY confusing. 5:41 This guy gives you a bike, but you can only use It when you are only with Ness in the party, so only for a moment in the game that you later have to give back if you talked to him again, susie would say that they can run and the guy will be surprised, as in the game you can't run in any way. 6:34 There is an status that the certain enemies give that makes you swap your controls in the map every few seconds, and a mushroom growns in the head of the character, and this character BUYS your mushroom in your head and heals you from that status, she says she got so many because in the original game that status could get very anoying and very easy to get. 8:18 In earthbound theenemies don't move until you move, and depending to which one of you were facing the back of the oponent they would attack first or you could get a free attack first or just start like normal. 8:24 The earthbound battle backgrounds were all like that, thats why It is so famous, as It was one of the first to use this many flashy backgrounds in the music you can also hear some things that are the voices you can also hear when starting the game after naming the characters. 9:13 In deltatraveler this attack steals TP if you are in It, It is based in the PSI magnet that Paula and this sprouts and enemies can do, in the original game they steal your PP (Psychic Points) that you use in the original game to use Psychic Power (magic). All the enemies in the area are enemies that you also get to fight in the original game. 10:08 This pencil-shape iron statues appear in the game so you can't progress any further until you get certain items, due to that in the game Ness needs to go there, check the statue, go back to get the object and go back to delete It and the mushroom at the start of the cave was already beated up, we can think that we came after Ness checked the statue but before he deleted It. 10:38 This guy appeared in certain moments and take photos of you, and didn't give them to you until the end of the game, also kris does the same pose that Ness does in the original game in these moments and the dialogue is exactly the same. 19:27 This enemy is called explosive oak because in the original game when you defeted him he would explode and deal a lot of damage to you. And the ovni and the spining robot gave you an status that make you lose health called Cold (Sniffling). 23:02 OH look is sans from smash bros! 24:52 In the game, Ness was the character with more posibility to miss an attack but had high HP and he was the only one who could use bats, thats why in this fangame that weapon is more hard to use and he says "harder to aim", because some in the game made ness had a ton of attack but miss a lot. 26:20 The skip sandwich is an similator of how an item in earthbound could make your speed increase out of battle and if used in certain way you could get outside of the map, in the game instead of using potions or things like that you heal with things like hamburgers, ect. 27:55 The reason of why It says he appeared late is because in the original game he was one of the first enemies in the game and the easiest. There was some encaunters with him because the game used flags to make you not die from status in cutscenes and the game only put this falgs down when you entered a battle, so thats why there were some in certain parts of the game. 28:55 In the original game this guys also appeared and did the same things they do in the fangame, being a cult and wanting to paint the world blue. 33:15 In the original game this also appeared, and you could also pay as much as you want. 37:04 This guy was the one who you had to pay to remove some special status like "Diamondized" who basically made you unable to do anything or "Possessed" or "Stone". 37:23 In the original game when someone gets taken out you need to go to the hospital and get then "out of sleep" by paying to the doctor, however of course, you don't need this in deltarune . 38:26 Yeah this also appeared in Earthbound. 43:03 Funny enough this ALSO happened if you didn't have the badge with you, you just instantly lose in the original game. 48:23 This also happened in the original game, Ness comes and saves Paula, but before Paula joins Ness needs to defeat Carpinter for the key to the cell and Paula gives him the badge so he doesn't instantly dies however here susie just explodes the door and Paula joins, the cave in the original isn't blocked off, so here It was so you actually need to see the rest of the history. The creator has actually listed the names of all the sections that are accompanied with a small image which hints at future sections. I’ll put unsure next to the sections that I don’t know the game of. Section 1 is called In Ruins and takes place in the ruins Section 2 is called Oh Mother and takes place in earthbound Section 3 is called Hell’s Forest and takes place in underfell Section 4 is called Shining savior and has a picture of a sword (Unsure) Section 5 is called Mirror, Mirror? and has a picture of the delta rune, and we can probably guess that it takes place in some mirrored deltarune world Section 6 is called Inside Job and takes place in Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside story Section 7 is called Gears and Gaffes and has a picture of, well, a gear. (Unsure) Section 8 is called The Dark and has a picture of a fountain, and will probably just be the finale

In earthbound when you clear an area the enemies from that area become normal and usually try to avoid you, and they're also defeated as soon as you run into them, the snake was from the first area, ness already beaten them all into submission, the snake had no idea what it was doing there.

Great video as always! I was so excited for you to play this! Even more so than usual, because this is one of the best Undertale and Deltarune fangames. It's so crazy that this game was made just because of the meme at first, but look at it now. When you played section 1 I wrote some funfacts you may find interesting and this time there's also many interesting things to talk about. Yeah, when our heroes first appeared in the world of Earthbound they were small, because that's how characters normally look in this game. Apparently, the spell that Kris and Noelle casted helped them to get used to this world and so from our and their perspective they turned to normal again. This is such a cool and interesting idea. As for how they learned this lightclear spell, well they probably did it automatically to be able to properly adjust to the new world. I wonder if that's gonna be the case in every world that has different look and rules from undertale/deltarune. The section 3 will be underfell so they don't need to cast that spell there, because it's an undertale au and things are working much more similiar to them than it did in earthbound. Even tho this update focused on section 2 of course there are some little changes or new things in section 1 as well. I think after you kill some enemies in the ruins Susie will now comment of why Kris is doing this. Before she only said something when you killed Napstablook, but now she mentions this earlier. Since I mentioned a things in section 1 so I'm also gonna say that you could get an egg in section 1 as well from a secret npc that was next to the pillar in the hall of independence. It was the case before this update, but I think a new thing is that if you interact with a candy bowl when you have an egg you can swap the egg with an extra monster candy. Of course the bowl can't be knocked over so you have to take only one candy before you do that. Thanks to that you can have 2 monster candies, but you'll lose your egg (or one candy if you didn't take any before, but most people probably would take one) Speaking of eggs, do you remember how you could do extra stuff with eggs in deltarune? Like putting it to Asgore's fridge in chapter 1 or putting it to basket with eggs in Sans's convenience store in chapter 2. In this game it's similiar. In section 2 you can put the egg in the basket with eggs in Happy-Happy Village. As for how to get an egg in section 2, after you defeat the Mondo Mole and a little more starts following you, you have to go back all the way back to the guy in the hint shop. He likes moles so he'll give you an egg as a gratitude, because you came back to show him a little mole. Interesting side quest. The earthbound is a really amazing game. There's so many to talk about here. First, this game was what inspired undertale. Well in some aspects. Toby when he was 14 (I think) made a rom hack to earthbound which was called halloween hack. In other words it was just a mod to earthbound with a new story, locations etc. You could even hear a megalovania in it, but it was a different version of it. This section has tracks from original earthbound as well as new remixes. Also this section takes place near the beginning of the story in earthbound. The locations, plot, enemies and characters are from a small part of the game. Same with a trippy visuals. All battles in earthbound have various backgrounds. It's the iconic thing in this game. I wonder if you play it someday. I highly recommend it! It's a great game and it's pretty long. As for this section being a small part of earthbound, that's why this giant toilet blocked your way. You couldn't explore the whole world and the path behind that toilet actually lead to the rest of the earthbound world (for example the Twoson town that Sans or Paula mentioned) It's hilarious and amazing that this was used to block your way as a reference to deltarune. This shroom that you found is actually an enemy from earthbound. The descriptions "beaten back to normal" and "reformed" are references to the fact that you don't kill enemies in earthbound. When you defeat them they become tame or just stop being evil. This can be a good example why this game inspired undertale where you also don't have to kill enemies. Oh yeah, the hint mechanic is really interesting. There are some situations when you can be unsure where to go or what to do so that's when the hint guy comes in handy. He basically just tells you the next thing you need to do to progress the story. In this section it works in the same way. Ah, the bike mechanic. You see, in earthbound you can't sprint so the only way to move faster is to buy a bike, but it's limited. For example you can't use bike in caves or if you have more than one party member. That's why travelling can be a little tedious in this game, but you get used to it. Actually if you talk to the bicycle guy the second time Susie would tell him that they don't need a bike, because they can sprint which is also a reference to lack of this ability in earthbound. Yeah, this game takes place right after the ending of chapter 2, because Toriel mentioned what happened to the car. Of course she meant what Kris did at the end of chapter 2 (slashing tires). Kris and Susie went to sleep, they were probably teleported to the world of Undertale while sleeping and then this game happens. Makes sense since Susie also has ultimate heal spell that she learned in chapter 2 or Noelle saying "Am I dreaming again?" when Susie tells her that they are in another world (they told Noelle that their adventure in dark world in chapter 2 was a dream) The characters popping when it's their turn in battle is a reference to mother 3. It's a sequel to earthbound. It also works the same way there. I recommend this game as well, it's amazing! Yep, you get more gold at the end of battle if you have extra tp just like in deltarune. One of the froggits in section 1 gave you the hint about that. Funny how Susie does hilarious stuff again. In earthbound there's another way to get past this pencil statue, but here our party wouldn't be able to do that so the only thing that's left is Susie yeeting it into the water. This game is brilliant. Ah, the photo guy... there's no need to comment about it. You'll understand everything when you play earthbound XD You know what? I knew this comment will be long, but I didn't expect it to be THAT long. I think I'll do a part 2 of things I have to say XD I can't help it, I just enjoy this game and undertale/deltarune in general and I want to share my experience with others. As someone who loves EarthBound, this section was such a treat to play. I loved the cute details like the Sprouts using PK Magnet (which in addition to sucking you in actually drains your TP if you stay in the thing!) and the trees using Brainshock which just moves the box back and forth like how the screen moves when it's used in EarthBound. I will say, this section is where the Genocide route (or I guess "obliteration route" as I've seen it called) gets kinda real, there's a whole disclaimer when you boot up the game for the first time and yeah, I do get how some people would need it since it is a bit upsetting.

Great video as always! Here it's part 6 of my long comment with funfacts and interesting things, because the previous ones were already long enough XD 1:33:57 It actually means something. When you parry during that attack it actually topples the mech's legs. That's because this attack is actually the legs that you can topple (make them red) by parrying them. Interesting way to speed things up without acting, but it's kinda hard to successfully topple all of them this way. 1:34:47 It's actually just Paula's attack. She has frying pan so that's why there are four bars (just like with a frying pan weapon in undertale) I noticed that it happens every time you use red buster. Maybe when Kris and Susie are doing their magic attack Paula just attacks normally, because she doesn't do anything else at that moment. 1:40:02 Look down, the mole lives and just observes everything from a safe distance I guess. It looks like the third section will be underfell (actually all of the sections were confirmed some time ago, but if you want to be surprised then don't look for that, heh) Funfact - the song that plays during the credits is actually a remix of the song that plays during credits in earthbound. From what I've seen the parry works completely different from how you deduced. It can delete a bullet, but it also makes you invulnerable for a second. Also in order to activate it, you need to be in grazing distance. If you activate it before then, or after getting hit, it doesn't work. So basically just spam Y while grazing and you're safe. You started out great but as you kept piling on wrong rules you kept getting hit more and more lol.

i didn't have time to play this until now so i could FINALLY watch this video. i originally had in mind the moments that made me laugh the most but tbh i just laughed throughout all of it so just lost count ✌🏼 however the fact that you said "i know nothing about earthbound except for the final boss" made me laugh cuz that was LITERALLY ME. i was unable to tell what was memes, what was directly from earthbound and what was original but it was still very fun to play.
