Nothing to fear but fear itself.
@LocalGnd Жыл бұрын
He's saying, inquire into what you fear, and fear will disappear. Not after the inquiry ends, but in the inquiry itself, there is no fear. It's not about doing what you're afraid of while being afraid, to numb the fear, or say, "I've gone through it. It wasn't that bad". It's about inquiring about fear, from a place of non-fear, just through interest and the desire to know more, in which there is already no fear because there's desire, and then the desire will move you through the object of fear without even being afraid. Inquire is the answer. Ask. Be Interested to know about it. Suppose you've built a wall around you and feel isolated because of fear of others. In that case, it's not about running through the wall with your eyes closed to the outside world and putting yourself in a situation in which you're terrified, day after day, to kill isolation and your societal anxiety. You should first examine the walls, then examine yourself, then examine the people standing closest to the walls in a way in which you can still sit within the walls and feel comfortable, and slowly but surely, the illusion which made you build these sturdy walls in the first place will disappear, fear will disappear, and all you're left with is healthy logic and understanding. And in understanding, there is no fear. We only fear that which we do not understand.
@Criggeda Жыл бұрын
Yes he's saying that in the enquiry into the objects of fear, fear disappears, but only for the while we're enquiring into them. Therefore, enquiry into the objects is the wrong approach, since there are innumerable objects of fear one could enquire into. Just like with any other form of concentration, like into job, career etc, fear is abated, but it hasn't been worked out. So enquiry into fear itself, not the objects of fear, is the way he suggests. The enquiry into what we fear is only a trick we play to distract ourselves from it intellectually.

@@Criggeda Yap! Although all enquiry ultimately leads to the enquiry of fear, for fear is the root of all evil.

Great analysis. Although, I wish they posted the full talk of these videos. I get the value of uploading clips, but right when the conversation gets interesting, the video ends... and there are a LOT of videos of Krishnamurti that are like that on this channel and elsewhere. As a courtesy, at least include the link to the full unabridged video/talk in the description.

The most terrifying prospect for entire humanity,save the minority of thinkers and philosophers,is that of losing the gross body apparatus to death.Our entire chase of pleasurable experiences is through the five sensory organs,so, losing them to death is catastrophic for an entity,as a mind,that has no other dimension to his life other than this activity.Dividing into illusory images and seeking pleasurable experiences through duality comes to an abrupt end if death snatches away the main apparatus through which this is achieved,so an average,non- introspective human being is mortally scared of death,which is synonymous with losing gross body apparatus.

Fear comes from insignificant connect early in life with the mother. From that, like branches on this tree, ornaments of individual fears attach.
