15+ Removed Features That Could RETURN in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

I'm sorry if there are any audio pops or issues in this video, it's stormy winds that are deciding to blow my house down.
New Horizons has a fair few features missing that were in previous Animal Crossing games, but what if those features could come back? In this video, I discuss my ideas on how that could happen!

characters with the same personality types are all the same, too. they leave the same notes when they're sleeping, when they're not home, they say the same phrases (just change the catchphrase) have the same reaction to when you say you have a gift for them, etc. i honestly think it should be more like they're different people and not just clones with different appearances.

Yeah, even just increasing the number of personalities to twelve would help so much. I would also recommend giving each individual villager at least one unique trait, which could be anything from their favorite food or favorite color, to their biggest fear or a childhood experience, just as long as they’re different for each villager (or at the very least, different for each villager with that personality type)

As a new player, I'm shocked that the franchise still has this much to offer from the previous games while it already has a bunch of mechanics in new horizons... I love everything that was mentioned in the video, however I'm also quite sad that I missed this amazing franchise. I wish I'd discovered it sooner T_T

Yeah. This video doesn't even say half of the features missing from NH that were in previous games. Like villagers visiting your houses or you could buy their furniture sometimes. You could have a credit card to make big purchases at Labelle's store since she sold really nice, but expensive stuff. There was also this magical fountain where a character named Selena would show up and I loved her. Also finding Mr. Resettis surveillance center and seeing his brother. There was a city in animal crossing city folk where you could buy cute balloons and it was just great

With Brewster there should be Easter eggs to other Nintendo games for instance while working there Mario comes in to the shop and orders a coffee. I loved how in new leaf Gulliver would talk about his trip to Delfino Plaza. I also want Cat Mario, Peach, Rosalina to be villagers as cats. We could get a toad and toadette villager a daisy villager that is a yellow bunny with a Daisy dress. I love Nintendo themed villagers. If we could have 15 villagers on an expanded island that would be great.

I think the thing I miss THE MOST in New Horizons is being the mayor. Idk, without that feature, I feel that the whole experience changes completely. In New Leaf, I felt that the town was mine in some sense, and I was always keen to come back and play because I needed to take care of MY town. I didn’t mind paying for bridges and public renovations because it was my duty as a mayor, and I always felt great satisfaction for improving the landscape for my villagers. In New Horizons I feel ripped off and that the Island puts way too much responsibility into a normal villager. I can’t imagine the people enjoying my town when I’m not playing like I did in New Leaf. Now, I feel like the game freezes in time until I come back. It doesn’t feel as immersive anymore. I wish, at least, there was a way to progress through the game and became the mayor of the island eventually.

The big glaring problem with trying to add more characters is that there is limited amount of space on the island to add more shops and having them be visitor characters means Jolly Redd becomes even less likely to find. They will likely have to either make everything extra rooms within existing buildings, or they might do what they did with Harv's island and just have a "City" island people fly to for more shops.

You see ... Nintendo is taking with New Horizons the same approach they took with Pocket Camp: each update will bring new things to do. We still don't know how the shop will look like when fully upgraded, or what pourpose the small dock serves. New Horizons also doesn't feel complete: compared to New Leaf, it seems to not have as many different furniture sets and clothing as New Leaf had. I am sure that some of these features mentioned in the video, as well some of those characters, will be added in the future in proper time.

Most of the other petty drama bait arguments are in fact BS. i don't care about cloud saves and the sharing the island argument is a moot point and shows you are probably far to young to have played the first AC or the sequels you had to share your town in the first one and most of the sequels as well. Besides the potential to lose everything and having to share an island with others it’s ridiculous that what is fundamentally a design game only let’s you undertake the process once. On the pier, you should be able to take Kappn’s boat (for 2,500 bells - open all day) to a Main Street island, It will have these shops on it; Gracie and Labelle’s Style Shop. (Where Gracie sells brand new furniture types and types of furniture from past games, and Labelle sells Gracies’s clothes designs and new, fashionable clothes - open from 9am to 9pm, Labelle’s area would be shut if she is on your island) Kick’s Shoe Shop. (Which would be above Gracie and Labelle’s Style Shop, where Kicks would sell new, fashionable shoes and bags - open from 10am to 9pm, if he isn’t on your island) Leif’s Gardening Shop. (Where Leif sells Rare flowers and New bush types - open from 8am to 8pm, if he isn’t on your island) Chip’s Fish Store. (Where Chip takes you on a Fishing Boat and Let you catch more Rare fish - Open from 10am to 8pm) Nat’s Bug Store. I loved being able to kick the soccer balls with villagers in the GC version. Sometimes a neighbor would even ask of you cpuld find them a ball to kick around and that was really fun for me as a child.

Since we can create fences and hedges in New Horizons we can now stop the ball from going into the river and the sea by building fences and hedges around the area we want to use the playing field to play football (or Soccer as the Americans call it due to American Football just being called Football over there). But we now need the abilty to throw balls as well having basketball nets that can be interacted with so we can then play basketball with the villagers or our human guests.

@Hollie We can bounce balls. But we can't throw balls (e.g. We can't throw balls towards the Basketball Net item after it is placed or to each other) or kick them about (or even kick them into a placed Soccer Net item).

We can have up to 8 people on an island but all we can do is bounce balls. If we enough Jail Cell fences and 2 placed Basketball Net items we can create a Street Basketballl area but it means very little when all we can do is bounce balls and not be able to throw them at the net or towards other people.

I want a future update to increase the villager cap to 15, like how it was in the Gamecube game. Maybe expand the map so that there's a smaller second island, maybe just introduce houseboats, I don't know how they would do it, I just think they should. Also, apparently in one of the Japan exclusive updates to Animal Crossing, you could shop in the store after it closed by banging on the door and waking up Tom Nook (with the caveat that items would cost more and you sold items for less). Now, while the drop-off box covers the latter, I feel that the former should be implemented somehow. Instead of waking up Timmy and Tommy, you could be given a key to the store; if you wanted to buy something, you would need to leave the money on the counter and then leave (and lock the door on your way out).

I definitely feel kapp’n will return. There’s gotta be SOME planned thing for the small jetty, like the private beach had a function. Also, it seems pretty strange that a whole model and animation set was coded in for kapp’n, just to have as a character to take photos of when you scan his amiibo? Especially as his model is exclusive to him, and not used by any other character in the game, I.E. his family etc. I dunno, just seems like a weird choice for a developer.

I’m okay with a lot of the missing features, as personally I hated a lot of the old characters like doctor Shrunk and the dream suite, Katrina, and don’t even get me started on how much Harriet messed up my hair for 3000 bells! I definitely miss diving, more buildings to create a more “town” feel, more villager dialogue and more villager games, the cafe, and the mini games. The mini games were one of the best part of New Leaf for me as sometimes it felt like there was nothing else to do on a particular day (a statement I feel very strongly about in NH as most of the gameplay is customisation) so being able to escape to the island and play mini games with my friends was the best. I wish we had the same amount of content and things to do in NH as in NL, just personally, not the same things as previous games. I love NH, but I feel as though I’ve ‘completed’ the gameplay already, as all buildings have been unlocked etc, whereas NL I had for years and I still hadn’t finished unlocking everything last year. In essence, I just wish there was a bit more to do other than the same old things like terraforming (though I adore the amount of customisation we have available it’s amazing). Sincerely, an AC addict with a very short attention span. Edit: Something else I remembered - I actually miss being able to read information about creatures donated to the museum. Blather’s facts are basically rubbish now, as all he talks about is how much he hates bugs or one fact about the creature that isn’t even interesting. It’s also annoying having to talk to him to find out about something. I loved being able to read about the creatures whilst seeing them, it made the museum feel a lot more real and interesting. And with theNH museum being so realistic, it seems like something that is really missing to me.

Agree with the list. I have no idea why they removed perfect fruit!! I even tried planting my native fruit at a glowing spot early on to see if that's how you got it, but alas, no luck. I also miss villagers visiting your house!! They had way more ways to interact with you in New Leaf :c like I'd be in my house and they'd randomly knock on my door! How cute was that. I love New Horizons too, but I sincerely hope they add more, cause now I'm only stuck in a terraforming loop. And I miss the old furniture sets too!

Another missing villager is Meow and (im going to guess its Bow?) The robot cat and dog. People have modded them onto their switch, but modding your switch is VERY illegal.
