I always think this is a convo between Sebastian and Ciel. At the beginning, their relationship was just all about the contract. Eventually, after spending time together and going through dangerous situations; they started to care for each other. Ciel would still like to have his revenge yes but he also likes being alive and spending it with Sebastian, Lizzy and others. He started to feel alive again and enjoy life. Sebastian still wants Ciel's soul since he thinks it is still the most delicious one he'll have but started to really care for Ciel and saves Ciel not just for his soul but because he wants Ciel safe. Sebastian had also started to enjoy the life he has now. Ciel and Sebastian knows that they wouldn't have the life they have now if not for meeting each other. They would protect each other. I know season 2 is really not manga canon but you can see that Sebastian doesn't like the fact Ciel became a demon. Part of it is because now he can't have Ciel's soul but I like to think it is also because he knows Ciel being a demon means he has to leave his life behind as what has been shown by his fake death.
