There are directions on GOOGLE on how to clean gourds. The mold is natural and when you soak them for about 15 minutes in the sink and use a plastic or Teflon scrubber it comes off. They suggest 1 part bleach to 5 parts water when you soak them. You might want to cover them with something to hold them down in the water, since they will float on top of the water. They are so easy to grow also!
@kellichandler2752 Жыл бұрын
Yes bleach , water, scrub!

What they said lol. And I have read to put a wet towel on them in the sink to hold them down in the bleach water :)

I was absolutely stunned to see how many are not subscribed, Kristen!! After watching you the first time, I immediately clicked that bell☺ Soon to turn seventy one, I'm delighted to support young ones, especially those walking with Jesus. I have time to watch videos in retirement and know how expensive supporting a family is in this day and age, as we have three kids of our own, each with families to provide for. Goodness, groceries, school supplies, shoes and clothes - dollars coming in evaporate so quickly just for basics! Anyhow, I hope many viewers decide to subscribe to your channel, Sweetie pie! Love all your finds for your beautiful home! You have such a great eye to furnish your surroundings so lovingly inviting💖 Loved our visit!!! Until next time 🤗🤗🤗❤

You ‘raked in’ (Ha!) an amazing Fall Haul! These items will capture Autumn in all of its glory in your home, once you do your thing & place them. Kristen, I lean towards real/natural things in my home. There have been times when out driving, that I have spotted non-residential fields overflowing with beauty (e.g. maybe wheat) & I have pulled over & cut some. As for your beautiful brown dishes, I felt so bad that there were 2 place-settings when you thought there were 10. I would love to have seen them in your hutch for fall, but for me, nothing surpasses your blue set! Clean those gorgeous gourds & Enjoy your precious family! Thank you for showing us how to celebrate God’s countless goodnesses in all of the seasons! ❤️🙏🏼

LOL I wash the gourds off in the sink with soap and water first then let them dry really good outside on the porch. Next I rub brown shoe polish on them and it gives them a very nice patina and also seals them so you can dust them. Hope this helps!

Kristen, just use a stiff brush & you can get a lot of that flaky dried skin off your gourds. Yes, you can soak in water as well. If you choose to do it with the brush, be sure to wear a mask so you don’t breathe in the dust. Also, of course do that outside. I have purchased gourds like that and cleaned them to where they are smooth. Great price!!!! What a wonderful thrift haul. Really like your bean pot; the brown & cream pot. You’re right, that wooden lid isn’t for that. It should have a pottery lid in the dark brown. In New England & other places as well, those were used to make baked beans in. They are oven safe. Ok, sweet girl, see you next time. 😊❤😊❤

Your Fall dishes are such a find. I am sure you will enjoy them mixed in or styled on a shelf. You could do just one shelf in your cabinet or display on the table or fireplace. Love the gourds, and the gunk should clean right off. I use my EO cleaner on anything mould. Even makes real pumpkins last longer. I also use my eo diffuser, and get those wonderful Fall smells. I saw someone on KZbin use a small bundle of grasses from Hobby lobby, $4. And she created 2 bundles of sheaves. You have to open and carefully line up the heads, then spiral out, to make the full looking sheaves.

To clean the gourds, soak them in your sink for aboutv20 minutes with either hydrogen peroxide or bleach, about a half cup of either, and warm water. Either solution will take care of the mold issue. Use a wire scrubber, wear gloves and goggles (don't ask how I know, LOL) and scrub away. Rinse them off and dry naturally outside in the sun. This can take a couple days of drying. Don't bring them back in until they are completely dry. Have fun and what a score with those gourds!

Loved your Fall Haul. Still in the 90s here yet and will remain HOT here in FL thru October/ November or beyond. Watching autumn items at least makes me feel a bit cooler. Take the gourds outside, and with a stiff brush, brush the mold and flakes off, when you get as much as you can that way, get a bowl of warm water with 1/5 bleach water ratio, and a damp scrubby and clean the rest with that. I suggest not to soak them as micro cracks can get water inside (and seeing as you plan to not cut into them and clean out the inside) which will take forever to dry properly and could creat more issues, and mold. Stick them in front of a fan till fully dry.....like a good day. And then i suggest rubbing some wax on them and buffing them. It will make the colors richer and really pop, and i also feel it protects them and makes them last longer and collect less dust. FYI, these are super easy to grow (get the kids involved), and you can grow many different kinds and shapes, you can grow some loofah too.

Hi Kristen. I love your channel and subscribed the first time I saw you. Most people don’t realize why they need to subscribe. Remind people why once in a while. Omg I loved all of your finds, loved the sack of dried gourds, loved the crocks..one maybe a bean jar ?? , loved the fun leaf pumpkin and your find…the Johnson Brothers plates. You can be on the hunt now. I want that ALDIs candle. The Woodwick candiles crackle when burned . I know I am crazy early, but have started decorating for Fall. My husband is having his second knee replacement in September and I will be the nurse😮 and we will have company visiting and family staying a few days. I am not doing pumpkins yet, but brought out some beautiful copper pieces and old Fall bowl that was like one my grandmother had, changed out some ceramics to fall ones, brought out orange and amber Blenko glass, doing more of an orange, amber and blue for something different..copying from Thrilled Thifter..utuber . I want to do more natural things this year..not so many Hobby Lobby type things..which I love but want more authentic. I have some old fall pictures and a beautiful fall print by Gauguin ..Van Gogh’s friend…big framed print for one dollar at an estate sale. I love your channel so much. You inspire me to be a better Christian and to spend time in prayer..lots of hugs to the girls. Those boots for your little one ❤❤❤❤.
