Yeah I started in 2012, and the wife and I have a monthly budget to either spend or save towards our garage gym. Now we have a 6 post Rack, Reverse Hyper, GHD, Ski-erg, Bikerg, C2 Rower, Airdyne, and well over 500lbs in weight in our garage. Ideas for the pull-up bar is i learned that I used 2x6 stringers running horizontally on the wall, then I mounted my pull-up bar to the 2x6 stringers for a stronger support. So instead of just using the 2 studs, the stringers distribute the load across multiple studs in the wall, just my 2 cents.
@patrickoconnell23804 жыл бұрын
Thats awesome. grabbing stuff when you can def adds up over time.You gym sounds sweet. I like the stringer idea as well.

patrick oconnell yeah I learned it from some guys on reddit. I posted my pull-up bar installation on the /homegym community, and people were more than helpful in instructing on a better install than what I originally put up.

Great advice about a sandbag, so many functional movements for the cost- I'm going to add! I've found that if I wait patiently for things to appear, nearly everything can be found second hand. Sometimes gyms/boxes will unload stuff that was ordered by accident, so new items can be found without paying for shipping.

Just getting started again with my home gym after having a major stroke which caused quite a bit of nerve damage. Muscle and tissue damage are minimal but because of the brain and nerve damage, what I knew and felt naturally must be relearned. Not a problem, at least I have a second chance and will be ecstatic with any recovery and strength regained. A chance is a chance and any gain is great. Sure, I get frustrated occasionally, take breaks, find an innovative approach or technique. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hey Kristi. I have a gym/garage super similar. I have a question for Patrick. I want to insulate the garage but I have drywall up already (previous owners put up drywall but no insulation. Looks like yours is similar) I was told the only option was removing and replacing it all. Is that what you guys are doing? And cheaper ways to get fairly insulated without removing and replacing all that drywall?
@patrickoconnell23804 жыл бұрын
hey! The areas in our garage that were already drywalled did get insulated but nothing els. I did insulate before I drywalled the rest witch is the def the cheapest. the two options you have that I see would be taking drywall down like you said but that also means your garage is going to be under construction, the other option is Foam insulation. it probably the cheapest but for a couple garage walls wouldn't be ridiculous. you can have someone come in and they will drill holes in the drywall between the studs and spray foam to fill the cavities with just some small holes to repair. hope this is helpful!
