Really sad about the passing of Willie Garson, seeing Kristen tear up was moving. I'm pissed that so many people are critical of the diversity of the cast. It definitely is realistic to see a rich black women being friends, via their children with a rich socialite like charlotte.

I think the issue is moreso that Hollywood is still having to showcase diversity by saying, hey look we have a colored member joining our all white cast and she will play the token black. Now our show is woke. 🙄😒

@@iacobus4227 I hear you. At issue is, *you can't set your show in New York and genuinely expect to have everyone be lily white and no one complain about it.* That's not a thing in NYC! Rich or poor, there are a bunch of Black and Asian people so not having diversity was always stupid. They needed it. The problem I have with it, is that *when they DO bother to include the "token Black person," they make sure it's someone who is 'barely Black."* The person has to be light-skinned, light eyes, straight hair. THAT is what pisses me off. The colorism has to stop, too.

@hev spring, I couldn't agree more! The reality is, would producers bother with "colour" diversity if Samantha didn't turn the show down. SATC had diversity as they had a number of gay characters. Lets not force colour for the sake of being "diverse". As a black woman, I felt this is forced and not sure it can be a success without Samantha! She was everything about the show. Since I have time, I will spell it out: Because predominately white casts have existed since television media has been in business due to white supremacy. White media actually existed to denigrate and spread stereotypes/propaganda about black people and other racial minorities, (think blackface)There has been little representation for other groups, and since media is a billion dollar business, and we all consume it, it is important that people of color are represented. We have just begun seeing diversity and it’s important to implement that as much as possible.

@BrownTingz Gosh. So kind of you to spare the time to regurgitate Anti-Racist talking points.But please consider, African Americans make up 12% of the total U.S. population (far less than the truly underrepresented Latino population at 18%), and 24% in NYC (whites 60%). THAT is why tv and film casts are predominantly white, not a hidden racist agenda. "We have just begun seeing diversity" Are you remotely aware of just how many multimillionaire African American actors there are and have been since the 1980s?? How many box office blockbusters and top rated tv shows with POC leads? Ever heard of Oprah? Do some research, I think you're in for a pleasant shock. Suggest you start with the Cosby Show, #1 rated sitcom for 5 of its 8 year run... wayyyy back in the '80s.

@@johniii8147 as I said, it's obvious that they exaggerated it on purpose and it's a TV show. Get a clue. P.S. I will acknowledge my blackness anywhere and in whatever setting I want want and the people who are Karens online keep their mouths shut in real life. Diversity has been norm since you were a child? That doesn't mean you like it. In fact you seem to have a huge problem with it Karen. No offense but I just blocked/muted you. People like you really annoy me.

We just moved to the USA from Denmark. And it is really difficult to make friends with the clicks that are already established. It does not matter that our kids are only 9. The ladies are not welcoming, and although the population where we live is somewhat diverse. The click does not welcome other ethnicities. So I would say that although I did loved Sex and the city back in the day, I do miss Samantha. I think the new plots are a bit forced, considering that Miranda is gay, why wouldn't her character explore that? And now everyone is rich in this new version and over the top. How out of touch could this new iteration be, women spending crazy amounts of money on clothing, only living an elitist life? Has that been how the lives of all American women have turned out to be after 30 year? I wonder how relatable that is for everyone. People had to leave NYC because of so many reasons during the pandemia. NJ is filled with people from NYC. The prices of real state in NJ are out of reach. Now there is a new NYC in NJ.
@diwi5823
@diwi5823 3 жыл бұрын
Your comment is all over the place in thought mentioning your issues with them being “rich” “over the top” “out of touch” “Elitist”? Sounds exactly like Samantha yet you miss her character? And NJ? Did you want them make the new setting New Jersey? You started out by saying you do not feel welcome in your new environment but finished by saying that ppl from NYC have filled NJ. Is that not hypocritical? Aren’t you from Denmark? 👀 I’m so confused

@@diwi5823 I guess it is called democracy and freedom of speech…. Fact, Most of Women in America don’t turn successful and rich. Maybe that’s the reason why Sex and the City sitcom is so loved. It’s about the three remaining ladies with their own ups and downs within a world of glamour, style and money.
