Wow, Kristine! This lesson has been an “eye opener” for me. When it appeared last week, I must admit I was not particularly attracted to the subject… shows how much of a beginner I truly am!! I look first at, complex and colourful flowers. But, this important part of any beautiful botanical painting, is explained and demonstrated exceptionally well. Thank you so much for this great teaching moment. I have learnt so much watching this lesson!

Thank you for this comment. When I was at the beginning of my watercolor journey I went for complex paintings and was mostly disappointed with my results 🙈😅 and when I started to explore other artists who are painting for a long time I realized how ambitious I was and not quite smart 😂😂🙈🙈 all the best to you ♥️♥️♥️

I like your point about taking time with the little detail. Often I have taken so much time with the flower and then the stem and leaf are an afterthought. Never have I taken time on the stems or leaves. Thank you for your point of view!!

It is as much important as the main subject

fantastic tutorial, love your tonal values and attention to detailing. It's about what you see, not what you think you see. Thank you

I have not yet dealt so intensively with the stems of the plants. It was very interesting and I learned some new things. Thank you very much for sharing!

Your comments are so helpful, especially your emphasis on *patience* (not my strong point) and taking time to build up to darker colors, instead of just going for it in the first pass. You are really helping me to understand how this medium works and how to work it. Thank you so much.
