Finally, a masterclass in how to paint leaves: innate talent in action. I'll be watching this over and over, thanks for really showing how it's done xx🌼

Hi do you start to paint when the paper still wet or let it dry first?
@KristineArt10 ай бұрын
After first layer I let it dry and then add next layer which is more dryer

Nice work...plz try to keep reference image beside n explain the dark , light , cool shade which u pick n shadings done. It will help for newbe.
@KristineArt2 жыл бұрын
Advise for a newbe - open reference image right beside the tutorial or on any other gadget. In realistic painting it is super important to study details of the subject. You will never see details on a little additional screen inside the tutorial video. It can help when you are making quick illustrations or abstract painting but with realistic painting it is something different. That’s why I’m sharing reference to be able to download them and really study ♥️

Definitely can do that, but only in summer, when I will have access to those leaves. I paint 90% from my reference photos 🙏❤️

Couldn't you protect the veins with masking marker, after the first layer of colour, so it would be easier to colour in between? That leave looks fantastic! Thank you so much for these tutorials!
@KristineArt3 жыл бұрын
No, result wont be like this with masking fluid. Masking fluid is leaving very sharp edges and it is very hard to make so thin lines. For me is much easier to paint in between. Using masking fluid in very rare occasions

Hi Kristine welcome to Western Australia 🦘🦘🦘🦘🤭. I have just found your channel. I love how you did that leaf, that shadowing really gave depth and roundness to the leaf (eg 3 D effect). If I may be a bit cheeky I believe (so checked Google) that the Windsor & Newton Prussian Blue has 2 ss's and is pronounced 'Prushan' sounds like Russian, some of those names are quite tricky. I look forward to exploring your channel and videos, I know I will learn alot from watching (and listening) you paint. Have a great day 🤗⚘

@@KristineArt you are doing a fantastic job. I know my art will come on in leaps and bounds thanks to you. Your art is awesome. I hope you didnt think I was critisizing you Kristine because I wasnt. Some beginners take everything as gospel, like you and I know to remove the masking fluid but beginners might not. Thanks for your reply. Enjoy your day⚘🎨🤗🦘🦘🦘🦘

@@jennyc5132 I think if Kristine used masking tape for the veins, I am sure she would tell everyone when ready, to remove the masking tape. She made it look quite simple by merely running a damp brush along the leaf creating a vein and wiping brush each time to get paint off brush. I am a beginner but I have taken other Patreon classes from watercolor artists who first showed us how to remove paint with a damp brush, especially veins in leaves and Flowers and then we did it. I must admit....it took practice...lols..and still I can mess things up. I have also watched a landscape artist use masking fluid to create leafless branches and he even told us to first make sure you put soap on your brush and then dipping brush in masking fluid to create the faint branches and then washing masking fluid off before all dries on the brush.

Question.....if we take your Patreon tutorials, do you explain a little better? For instance, you started out wet on wet using the various color variations. Then you wiped out your veins. Then you went in building layers. Was that wet on dry? If so, how did you keep from getting hard edges or because of the veins, you do not have to worry about that? If it was all wet on wet, how did you keep from getting blooms? It looked like you did not have much paint on the brush....only on the tip and the paint you are applying did not look soupy. Do you explain all of this in your Patreon classes? The leaf turned out beautiful. I could not see the beauty at first, but you pulled everything together with your layers and making sure those veins stayed light. A masterpiece!

Good day! Yes I explain the whole process in my full tutorials and they all are available on my Patreon page. First layer is wet on wet and then it goes dryer with each layer. Applying watercolor layer on a dry surface and smoothing with round synthetic brush. Richness and volume of the subjects achieved by many layers of transparent watercolor mixes. I load my brush on the very tip of it. Paint slowly, gradually build layers and detailing is done at the finishing stage. Thanks 😊
