Discovered the tv show 'Family" right here on KZbin, a couple of months ago. I'd always been aware of Ms. McNichol, but had no idea what a talented and captivating actress she really was, and at such a young age. It's kind of weird, personally, to feel something for someone I've never met or known. But, I do wish her the best for whatever troubles she's suffered. And I'll extend a prayer to anyone else out there in need of peace and comfort. May you all find it.

Love this! Happy that she discovered a life outside Hollywood front and center. The child actors of the 70s and 80s were so loved by so many.

What a wonderful lady. Life is more than acquiring money & fame. Finding out who you are & striving to find peace & happiness are more important than the trappings of Hollywood. ❤🙏

Problem is most people don't reach this level of enlightenment until many lost years have past, there's a reason stories tell of an old wise man on a mountain people seek out. When one gets time to reflect with introspection, learn to just understand stand that life is one breath to the next & all that has come before or lay ahead is just a thought or collection of many. Important is better late than never one learns to live aware yet unmoved by distortions made by surroundings or others there to distract if one allows them to.

She's awesome. When she was on Empty Nest she became 13-year old me's very first crush. Such a talented actress, could do any genre. Yeah it's a terrible shame she had to quit at such a young age, but I am proud of her for prioritizing her mental health. God bless Kristy.

Very intelligent and talented person. Can't imagine what a total gong show was going on behind the scenes in entertainment business in LA with drugs, sexual harassment, pedophiles, pressure of all kinds to go along to get along. Fame for a child is just bad. So glad she took herself out of that toxic industry. I hope she is happy and healthy ❤. She was a great actress and influenced me as a younger girl for which I am grateful.

I wish she was still playing roles too, but then I realize that's a selfish wish. She's in a happy place now (hopefully), and if I really care about her, I've got to be happy for her. At least there's documentation of her past that we can go back to.

Kristy did not have a chemical imbalance.; she was molested by the producer and was horrified, and so shocked by what happened that called all her acting career and the industry into question, lost her self confidence but was never supported. Despite what happened to her some bozo even thought it would be good if she had a masseuse on set for this film; it just made it worse. We all lost a potentially great actress because someone couldn't keep their hands to themselves.

Well, it was as much as it can be. But it wasn't discussed openly like now. That's why she's talking about things people can understand and accept -- the effects of the business. But, of course, that was not the whole story.

Another non-compassionate person. First of all, actors/actresses do not get paid when they are not working. They get paid when the movie has been completed. She was ill. Have you never been ill or known anyone else who was ill? If not, you are one lucky individual...so far. If/when you ever get ill & are unable to work or know someone who has become too work, maybe then your attitude would be different. In the meantime, have some compassion for those who have not been as lucky as you.

@@brendapodell3633 The world is full of people like the above commenter. Lack of compassion or understanding. Kristy was a very busy actress starting from a very young age and was in commercials before her busy career. My goodness, if anyone needed rest at that time, it was surely her, right? Thank you for your kind comment.
