Never have seen this very good, I miss this ride very much wonderful to hear the sound effects of that time.

Here's what I've been able to infer so far in terms of Okee voice roles: *Marty Krofft:* Mr. Fox's half of "Beware, beware! Go back, go back!", Fox and Bear panting (presumably) *Lennie Weinrib:* Owls, Mr. Fox laughing, "Not me!" bird, Mr. Bear's half of "Beware, beware! Go back, go back!", Mr. Rabbit cheering (presumably), Fox and Bear panting (presumably) *Joan Gerber:* Screaming chicken, "Not me eithuh!" bird, rabbits in cow-milking scene, Mizz Rabbit, Laughing Sun

Just wondering about this but was the butterfly track ever recorded for this ride? I don't know if it was used at all.
@okefenokee_rabbit5 жыл бұрын
The butterfly is actually the, "Not me eithuh!" line. As it turns out, there was only one "wild bird", as one of the two voices was apparently intended to be a butterfly.
@okefenokee_rabbit5 жыл бұрын
And I'm not sure how I managed to mix this up so badly, but Sid Krofft actually _isn't_ the one voicing Mr. Bear's half of, "Beware, beware! Go back, go back!"; it's Marty, who you can also hear briefly at the beginning of the reel bringing up Joan's "fat lady laugh" for the laughing Sun.
@okefenokee_rabbit5 жыл бұрын
Mr. Bear was voiced by Marty Krofft, while Mr. Fox was voiced by Lennie Weinrib.

Here's yet another update on the voice roles, and once again it's something totally obvious that I somehow misconstrued: I had the voices in the "beware" role flipped around. It's actually Marty as Mr. Fox and Lennie as Mr. Bear. Now we know that the casting for those two characters wasn't consistent, if nothing else. (Although I doubt they were exactly intending on being consistent to begin with.)

What an insane find! Props to you for finding this absolute treasure! Just when it seems like we can't dig up anything else, something new comes up!

Right?? Such an unexpected find....I was listening to the Krofft theme park stuff and then all the sudden they were mentioning "Southern Rabbits" and I nearly screamed! I ended up getting in contact with the gentlemen who originally posted this file online, he said it came from a storage locker and was the only Krofft related reel.
@okefenokee_rabbit5 жыл бұрын
And it looks like it's safe to assume that Mizz Rabbit was voiced by none other than Joan Gerber of the H.R. Pufnstuf voice cast, who sings the show's closing song as "Lady Boyd".

The recordings that got cut would be the takes that ended up getting used. Sad that minus Okefenokee thanks to Tim, the outtakes for the other attractions are the only audio that exists

This is BEYOND cool!!!! Gives yo a real insight of how many creative talents involved in such a project. I worked for the now defunct AstroWorld Houston, Texas. I watched them re-program The Great Texas Longhorn Review in late 1988. The show opened in 1982. Very interesting process on the animatronics. Also the Krofft's did animated figures for the flume rides in Texas and Georgia. Sadly, they no longer exist.

Thanks pal! That's a super cool story about Great Texas Longhorn! Was that for when they changed up the voices and songs? What did you do at Astroworld? The Great Texas Longhorn Review was designed by the same folks who made the ride that came after Okee, Monster Plantation!

@@reed14567 I was in food service, ride operations, & sign shop. 1985-89. Yes! they did change voices. I preferred original version. I "may" have audio of it somewhere. Do you collect commercials of SFo Georgia? I'm looking 4 one from 1988 boy on porch swing daydreaming of a day @ the park. Tough one to find. SpeeLunkers Cave (sigh) I really miss @ SFoTexas. Glad they "still" run steam engines!

@@michaeltaylor9977 That's awesome man! I think someone has audio up on here of the original show, but not the re-recorded show! I recently found out those figures are out rotting in a field someone in Arkansas or something crazy like that? I hate it! And I'm afraid I don't collect any commercials! But I have a hunch I might know a few folks who do, there's a pretty active Facebook pages for SFOG and SFOT history if you aren't already a member on there! Lots of cool footage gets shared on the page!

Reed Randolph, some sources say that the Krofft redesign of the ride was done for "reasons unknown", while others say that Angus Wynne was personally unhappy with the small sizes of the figures and wanted it re-done. Have you run across any definitive material that could be cited as an authoritative source for the reasons behind the re-design? Obviously Six Flags was enamored with the Kroffts at this point, but I'm hoping for some sources to satisfy scholarly standards. Many thanks for posting.
@reed145673 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, I've heard the same thing over the years. I can only imagine Wynn saw alot of creative potential in his collaboration with the Kroffts to do something even more exciting than what was currently there. I think the closest I've found to an actual source would be from Tim Hollis, who I know has spoken to many of Okee's ride operators and maintenance folks. I can only assume the story has been passed down via word of mouth. I've always found it interesting that the original designs for Mr. Rabbit, Fox, and Bear were featured as walkarounds and in publicity photos for decades after the original iteration of the ride.

Just wondering but are there any song outakes for Tales of the Okefenokee? Also the butterflies that they where talking about weren't in the ride. It might be unused. And we can conform that the "Not me not me either" from the ghost scene was going to be in that scene, but they scrapped it.
@carterdunlap99572 жыл бұрын
Maybe the Not Me scene was its own thing and the butterfly was also scrapped

Ferrocarril Fiesta Train at Six Flags Over Texas, which the Kroffts were responsible for redesigning in 1968 just as they did with several Six Flags Over Georgia attractions.

Sid Krofft is the one directing the voice roles; Marty is the one with kind of a sedate voice who you can hear speaking several times.
