Should have just let Scott and Spaihts produce a standalone trilogy exploring the mythos of the engineers AND THEN tie it into the Alien franchise towards the end. It'd have been a rewarding revelation for the audience and not built up everyone's expectations going in.

The engineer and Human relationship is literally like a kid engineer who tried to make an ant Colony in an aquarium box, didnt like what he saw, and pour a bucket of water to drown them. some ants survived, and he tried to take a bottle of pesticide to kill them but accidentally sprayed his eyes/mouth and died. The ants then walked on the pesticide residuals and walked into the kitchen, touched some food and killed the whole household.

At this point, the only aspect of the franchise that still piques my interest is the engineers' home world and their society. The predators, Xenomorphs of various kinds, and everything in between have become old and repetitive. I didn’t even have the patience to sit through Romulus-summaries on x1.5 speed were enough for me.

I think the reason the engineers are different is budget. The prometheus engineer getup is expensive. Not feasible for a huge crowd.

Personally, I couldn't care any less about xenomorphs. The only reason why I watched Prometheus when it first came out was because of the Engineers. I mean, I never understood the logic behind the Alien movies prior to the Prometheus movie. Humans had the technology to build android, so why use humans? Sure, you can argue that humans have imagination while A.I. don't. But even if that's the case, why send a team where the majority are human? If I were the CEO of a company and I wanted to increase the success rate of the space expeditions my company is sending, I would send a team where 80% is android and 20% is human. And if I really want to be efficient, most of the androids I would be sending won't even look human. I would design them in a way where they are literal walking tools who could perform their tasks wherever they are. Anyhow, this is why I couldn't care any less about xenomorphs or the Alien movies because the logic of their expeditions doesn't even make sense to me. I hope they will continue the story of the Engineers. That's the only thing I care about.

I feel like the offspring have answered why humanity was destined for termination in Prometheus. With smiling and enjoying violence the evolved hybrid showed me why. Thank you for clearing up a misunderstanding I had concerning David's aberrant behavior. I assumed that David had been programed in a "traditional" manner avoiding the manifestations of the more unpleasant human aspects. Being an advanced form of AI he could learn, manifest a persona, but be able to dodge the toxic idiosyncrasies of highly developed personalities. Your supposition that David contains elements of Weyland's personality, (along with Weyland's personality disorders), seems to indicate that beyond traditional programing David has been "imbued" somehow beyond normal methods. Of course, I appreciate that this is a photo-play and you can't have an engaging villain who's evil is hard wired in. Then they are merely a malfunctioning machine, boring. However, humans being extremely psychophysiology complex could we ever pull someone's, anyone's, psyche and implant it with any reasonable guarantee that we would not be creating a future mental patient?

Those Alien/Prometheus stories are heavily influenced by Sumerian tablets. Engineers are closely resemble Anunnaki people and the fact they also created humans according to tablets. Even the helmet of the last engineer looks like the head of Thoth who gave humans knowledge and writing, thought them to build cities . Just like engineers Anunnaki created people and helped them to become more civilised. There is also evidence that Jesus learned his teachings from Sumerian ancient knowledge. Even Bible written from Sumerian tablets stories.

Unpopular opinion i know but I am a huge HUGE fan of this lore and storyline of the engineers and how it coincides with the xenomorph storyline and also coincides with the creation of life. The creation of life theory in this is very very similar to what I actually believe creation of life started. Whether by other beings or Panspermia, it's very very interesting and I really really really hope they carry it on as a side story to the alien films. I'm all for it

I love Scott's exploring these ideas. Raises by Wolves did it as well. I'm still angry max both canceled it & pulled the 2 seasons they had. They did it with Westworld too! Think they have something against ai!? My grand wish is that Ridley Scott would make the pkd novel VALIS into a feature film. At this point I think he's the only one that could do it. Maybe Villeneuve. I would love to be in on developing a screenplay for it. I'm already working on a Logans Run that focuses on the AI using religion to control the population.

I hope the engineers return for the future of the Alien franchise, in series, films and comics games. There's no way they're all dead, they must have colonies on other planets just like humans. I hate how this is playing out, don't know if it's studio meddling or bad box office sales and negative reviews or what but Scott should have stuck to his vision and finished the story he wanted to tell. A lot of great, bloated-budget, high-dollar actor horror films are panned when released and become beloved cult classics later on while horrible, cheap movies make a fortune and non-stop, horrible, cheap sequels.
