I used to watch this video to get hyped for tournaments before I met Kron, now Kron is my coach!

Nice one. Why’s he not competing anymore? Always so entertaining to watch on the mats.
@gswizzle37147 ай бұрын
@@kaiguevara3272to my knowledge he switched to MMA because he said that people were stalling too much in jiu jitsu. His last fight was in the UFC against Charles Jourdain back in May. He also seems to be focused on teaching and living life out here in Montana.

No matter how many years I train, there must be some sort of mental freak out when they announce your opponent's last name is Gracie at a tournament. Kron is a monster.

I had a football coach growing up in Pee Wee Football that treated us like adults and made us get the most out of our talent the same way Rickson does. My coach, who played D1 ball in college, coached HS to state championships and then had his own twin sons that ended up being my good friends and d1 players themselves. The way Rickson is with his son is like the way my coach was, bigger than life and a true warrior in spirit. Rickson is such a savage and inspirational figure to me as a new guy that got into the sport in the last 2 years started training. Finding out about all of the aback stories to his legend are real was even more eye opening. And for a great man to have a great son, is one of the rarer thngs because it's so hard to stand in their shadow and live up, but with Kron he's got a man that has character and integrity along with all of the athletic accomplishments, much like my two friends had. I love the parallels.

I don't think that's what he said. I thought someone asked him why he was smiling and he said, "It's a good day to go to war, why are you smiling?". But I could be mistaken, that's how I took it. Cool either way.

@@SuperNinja757 to us non-elite plebeians Kron is on almost a god level, but if you are a young blackbelt who has also competed and won at the same elite level, why would you be scared? The only thing to really worry about is if your style can keep Kron at bay with how dynamic he is.
@SuperNinja7574 жыл бұрын
prodigypenn i get that the only guys competing with him are equally worthy of being on the mats themselves... my comments was based on the fact that I’m a lowly white belt who just tries to survive regardless who my opponent is. Love the videos though.

To everyone who is embarking on their grappling, BJJ or any martial arts journey, I wish you all the best. It has been said many times before but results come from working your ass off every single day. No glory, just sweat. Don't expect progress to come quick and easy. Instead, be methodical. Think of it like chipping away constantly with a hammer. You may not see immediate results, but when those days turn into weeks and months, you can look back and be proud of what you have accomplished.

@RANDOMalec8 жыл бұрын
I believe that the no gi clips are from free grappling matches where people can use judo if they choose. but they use mainly bjj because of ground and submissions. either way, people who specialize in judo are going to beat bjj people in judo, and vice versa.

@joah45 jiujitsu style that has maximum effectiveness in self defense and street fighting on top of simply tournament effectiveness
@garretttringale4364 жыл бұрын
@joah45 basically, the takedown, top centric jiujitsu, along with closed guard attacks, are what is considered effective and efficient jiujitsu. In ricksons words, jiujitsu is gaining efficiency, but losing effectiveness. It is easier to get medals and wins with berimbolos, but scooting, stalling, etc, but this style of bjj does not translate well to the streets, mma, and self defense. The 4 principles of jiujitsu, in the words of danaher, are take fight to ground to remove all dynamic movements, get past the legs, move to dominant position, the use chain of increasingly dominant positions to work towards a submission. These tenants are bastardized in modern competition.
@garretttringale4364 жыл бұрын
@joah45 that's a great video! Everyone should watch that when getting into bjj. What's really been lost is step 3 in my opinion.
