As to the trade, the Raiders can get younger and cheaper (at least in the short term) while they look for their QB of the future, The Jets get to have Green Bay East (until they break down), and the 49ers get DE 3 (at best), TE2, WR 3 (at best) and a couple of high day 3 picks. I only do that deal if I can't find a better deal out there and BA says he is going to walk next year (for which we would get a 3rd comp pick (unless we sign big FA's which I don't see since we will be paying Purdy a bank).

I get the import of going back to the bowl this year but I think you have to look at scenarios that likely play out beyond this year. Even if they sign BA and he's in the fold, it is pro football. They could incur one or more critical injuries to key players that put the ability to return to the SB in doubt. In the event they have to trade BA, right now, I think they're far more insulated at the WR position than they were in 2019, when they were led by Deebo (a rookie) and Kittle in receptions and a trio of RBs who all ran for at least 500 yds. Beyond Deebo, they had Goodwin and Pettis at WR, neither of whom did much to contribute, and Bourne before adding a veteran receiver in Sanders around the deadline. Granted, their Dline was better in 2019 with Buckner, Armstead, Bosa, Ford, et al, but is Will McDonald IV going to elevate that line to the 2019 level or even close to it? I don't think so. He's a pure pass rusher you're adding on pass sets. And as you've pointed out, they have a stacked RB room. Do you think there's the possibility, especially after CMC's heavy workload last year, that Kyle makes somewhat of a return to the 2019 season and multiple headed RB attack? They certainly have the opportunity to do so and use it to open up the passing game even more. Back to the trade: To mitigate the loss of Aiyuk, you're essentially getting a rookie draft pick in Corley back at WR, and this does little to make up for the loss of BA and keep your receiver core at a contention level. Corley is a gadget guy who is compared (in projections) to Deebo but hasn't even played 1 game of NFL football yet so who knows if he'll come close to comparing to what Deebo brings. He can't run routes. Even Salah admits his route running is far from fine. Even if they lose BA and trade him this year, they have a deeper WR room than they did in 2019 before picking up Sanders. Pearsall is not BA, but he's far more refined and technical than Corley is and much more likely to buffer the loss of Aiyuk. He may not break tackles but he's by far a much better receiver than Corley. That's before you even consider that Jacob Cowing could surprise this year if given the opportunity. And I actually thought Conley looked really good when they used him in the playoffs so I wouldn't be surprised if the 9ers have receiver options they just have had the luxury to not have to explore given the multitude of go to options and Aiyuk, Deebo, & Jennings getting the lionshare of WR targets.. I think if the opportunity to cash in on multiple high round draft picks comes around and SF isn't going to meet Aiyuk at the minimum he is asking for, then take the higher stock draft capital if a team is offering it. You're going to need it for cheap talent when Purdy starts making top tier QB money. That extra 1st round pick could be used in one way or another to draft Trent's eventual replacement (either by packaging it with your own 1st rounder to move up in the first round) or to take a guy that's there at the spot. It'll be a challenge to bring in Trent's replacement when he does retire given their likely cap restrictions with the new Purdy contract, and still being too good of a team to draft high enough to get a plug and play tackle. They may not think they need to replace McKivitz, but if they're unable to afford signing a free agent LT, they're only option is going to be drafting one.
